The room was huge compared to larger hotels I've stayed. Beds and couch were very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was outstanding.

Good value and good location.
Pros:

Good location with proximity to the beach. Comfortable bed.

Cons:

The door keycard worked 1 out of 7 times. Really needs fixing. A microwave in the room seems standard these days, but not here.

Best budget stay near the beach stay I've had in Santa Barbara
Pros:

The location is fantastic, just a block from the beachfront, a block from State Street, in a much quieter area than the places right on State. The room was super clean and updated, the best by far of the budget stays. The value was very, very good. There aren't amenities, no breakfast in the morning (there is a coffee maker in the room though), not 24-hour checkin, but they do have free parking and everything you could want is an easy walk away. Random bonus, there was a little patio in the back of the room with a table and chairs. The fact it was quiet, which has not been my experience in the dozen or so hotels I've stayed in there (aside from the luxury resorts), is a rarity. If you walk to the beach and turn right, you can get up to a really beautiful cliffside park that's amazing for watching the sunset.

Cons:

It was great! We had to wait a few minutes to check in because the people in the front were on a break, but it wasn't a big deal. Would love a free urn of coffee in the lobby, but again, no big deal, there was a coffee maker in the room.
