Being harassed by homeless and drug affected people upon leaving
Firstly, the standard of cleanliness was unacceptable. The property was filthy, poorly maintained and significantly below the standard presented in its advertising. Given the exceptionally high rate charged for the weekend, the disparity between what was advertised and what was actually provided was particularly disappointing.
More seriously, I experienced an extremely frightening security incident during the night
At approximately midnight, a man who appeared severely impaired and under the influence of some kind of substance was behaving erratically in the corridor outside my room. He repeatedly banged on my door, claimed to be housekeeping, attempted to open the door using the handle and returned several times. At one point, something heavy struck my door.-
I was alone in the room and genuinely frightened for my safety.
The standard of the hotel was awful and not worth the price paid. If i could have cancelled to get a full refund i would.
The cleanliness, the smell, the overall standard was very poor. It would have been an average hostel.

I would say that what makes this place exceptional is that the couple who run the place are so incredibly welcoming and accommodating.
I have stayed here quite often and coming to stay here feels like coming home.
The location is also excellent and the rooms are spacious. Do you really need a swimming pool, or a sauna or spa most of the year in Melbourne anyway?
I can’t think of anything to complain about.
Sometimes other guests have bothered me. But other guests have also made the place interesting and exciting at other times.
