Great place, full of character with wonderful staff and good food.
Pros:

The staff were absolutely brilliant- very helpful, very friendly and properly hospitable. Dinner and breakfast were very good, freshly made and well cooked. The hotel is old and full of character; the bar was lovely and comfortable with good chairs and a nice open fire - it felt very welcoming. We greatly appreciated the gentle hum of chat in the bar; there was no background music which was a huge bonus for us. The beer selections suited us, with good draught beers and the wine list was also very good. The place was frequented by lots of local people and that always seems to be a good thing. The hotel is right on the main bus route.

Cons:

Mattress in our room could have been better. It was a bit hard. Reading lamps by the bed could be improved. A night light that could be left on, without making the fan in the bathroom run all night, would also be a bonus.
