Having stayed a number of times in the past we chose the hotel for a family get together. We understand the need for hotel renovations but we were very disappointed not to be told in advance that the main dining room was out of use.

Lovely property in beautiful scenery
Liked everything
Beautiful property in stunning grounds
One restaurant was closed for refurb which we were not told about.
Nice bedrooms and bar/public lounges.
Nice walks within the grounds.
Kitchen being refurbed, staff using Porto cabin as kitchen. Breakfast buffet limited/poor. Every yoghurt toffee flavoured 🤷🏻♀️
Fantastic decor and layout, with awesome views.
Dog friendly staff and room was great. Currently undergoing renovation but kept out of view although
One kept getting riffs of fresh paint. At time of visit, kitchen was from a temp portacabin so allowances should be made for some of the food in restaurant
Breakfast - poor selection poor location
The room was really lovely - large, nicely furnished, beautiful bedding and great views. The bathroom was also excellent and we loved the quality complementary bathrobe/slippers and toiletries. All the staff were lovely - welcoming, friendly and helpful.
The main restaurant wasn't open so we only had the club restaurant available. There was a massive telly showing the golf and live music that was too loud. Food was fine but nothing special. Absolutely fine as a 19th hole but not really what we wanted and didn't match the quality of the accommodation.
Visited recently for afternoon tea which was, in itself, pleasant enough......especially the sandwiches. Waiting staff were well drilled in their duties and kept their presence to the minimum. However, what was on offer in no way resembles what is presented in pictures and description on the website. Perhaps this could be updated so that clients get what is advertised?
In addition there was a strong smell of adhesive in the restaurant which didn't contribute in a positive way to the ambiance and left me with a running nose and watery eyes. Maybe I should have asked it but maybe management should have a notice in view explaining that there was work taking place.
Still deciding If I'll return.
Very disappointing Afternoon Tea, apparently Kitchen refit in progress the smell of glue was very unpleasant while eating.
Food obviously prepared well in advance as sandwich bread and focaccia soggy.
I did request 1 vegetarian selection, and no seafood, no difference between any of the afternoon teas, choice beef chicken, salmon and egg. (No effort to separate the vegetarian option from the meat all on the same plate.)
Only given some cream and jam, no butter, doesn't really go with a cheese scone.
Coffee very weak and lukewarm.
Sweet treats were nice.
