This was our second time and the hotel remains comfortable and well located. The Chinese restaurant stays open until 10pm, handy for later arrivals and is excellent - try the mixed crab and duck soup. The evening buffet restaurant offers a good spread with very friendly staff. The jacuzzi, gym and swim facilities are excellent with sauna. The balcony with sea view is very relaxing. Cleanliness and decor.
Despite the busy breakfast, juices took too long to replenish. WiFi very poor.

The location and the view .
The pool was not comfortable. The steam room was not working. I expected better quality for the money .

No English speaking channels at all on TV, not even CNN or HBO...poor for a 5* international hotel.
I didn't like the deposit. It wasn't written about anywhere in the booking. It would be fine if it was small, but it was 50% of the cost of accommodation. I don't mind the deposit as such, but it would be better to warn about it in the description. Plus, the money was returned to the card for a very long time, more than 5 days

To call this a 5 star Shangri-La is a not accurate.
After checking in to our paid upgraded room we noticed the AC wasnt working in the bedroom (had a big room with seperate living room). the engineers arrived and quickly fixed so that air was coming out, however we notice that it was not cool air but just natural air as they call it. keep in mind this is in end of May where temperatures are between 22-28 degrees outdoors with the sun constantly on the rooms. I was told that cooling would not be turned on until mid June or later, which is insane. After several calls and threats to leave the hotel they finally agreed to turn on the AC (big thank you to miss Kong in the receptions, without her this stay would be a big disaster). the cooling was however not too powerful since other guest might "find it cold". So naturally the hotel lobby was never cooled either.
The breakfast downstairs is OK at most, but definetly not worthy of Shangri-La, there are not even enough seats for people to sit. the lounge room on the top floor only had breakfast during weekends, which was also poor quality.
The AC in the gym was always turned off so you need to tell them to turn it on, and it takes forever to cool down. The indoor pool had rules that you need to take shower before going in, yet it seems that nobody cared about those rules. the hotel area is a garden with some kids zoo which was too small for the animals. there are no sunbeds in the area and no beach that belonged to the hotel.
Uitstekend, direct aan de kust gelegen hotel, goed bereikbaar, alhoewel de ingang wat weggestopt was achter hekken. Ruime parkeergarage. De hal was niet echt verwarmd, zodat het een 'koele' entree was en het welkomst-gevoel ontbrak. De dag erna hinegen meerdere mensen met jassen aan in de steoleln, wachtend op een conferentie of een huwelijk - leek meer een stations hal. Vriendelijke staf, vlotte afhandeling bij inchecken en uitchecken. Ruime kamer, met balkon, uitzicht over strand en zee. Schoon. Prima bed. Heerlijke warme douche. Snelle liften. Het hotel is niet gericht op buitenlandse bezoekers: zeer beperkte kennis van het Engels, geen internationale tv zenders, ontbijt vooral chinese gerechten (met een paar internationale gerechten, zoals yoghurt en eieren en brood van een paar dagen geleden), buitengewoon onvriendelijke bediening (op het groffe af) aan het vers-station, gelukkig wel hele vriendelijke dames die de tafels afruimden. Het was fris binnen, zodat meerdere bezoekers met dikke jassen en petten op aan tafel zat - geeft niet echt een gevoel van een vijf sterren ambiance. In de lounge hele beperkte service, ook weer gericht op Chinees publiek, dat bovendien op de gerechten 'aanvalt' zodra het happy hour begint. Mooie selectie van verse thee-soorten. Al met al is dit geen 5 sterren hotel, eerder 3 sterren plus.

Wish it would have a casual restaurant for dinner.
It is really nice and the service is beyond perfect.
By international standards it is a very different beach hotel :) Expect no beach facilities, not even a place to sit and enjoy the beach in the garden, no facilities to dry your swimwear… really surprised the hotel on the beach does not have basic beach services )
