Property Description

The privately-owned Abbey House Hotel is a four-star, multi-award winning wedding and event venue and a base for a leisure escape, offering a blend of elegance and modern comfort. Home to Oscars, a rosette-awarded restaurant, with rooms overlooking the surrounding gardens. Celebrating 40 years in the same family.

Important information:

Abbey House Hotel hosts weddings often from Thursdays until Sundays throughout the year. Guests should expect music till midnight. Some functions may also have fireworks.

All rooms are individually designed and the photos may not represent the exact accommodations you have booked. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian.

Comfortable, friendly, in beautiful surroundings.
Pros:

Beautiful building in attractive grounds. All staff were welcoming and friendly. We had a room in the modern section and it was clean and comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast, both meals were tasty and pleasantly served.

Veldig pent og stilig hotell, med høflig personale.
Pros:

Frokosten er veldig god. Det er veldig fint og reint overalt. Veldig blide og høflige renholdere og servitører i frokostsalen. Selve bygget er helt nydelig både utvendig og innvendig.

Cons:

Vi bestilte et rom hvor det sto at det var hageutsikt, men vi så rett ut i bakgården hvor det var bare villniss. Vi har vært der flere ganger før og visste hvordan det ser ut i hagen. Så det var en skuffelse. Omgivelsene er grunnen til at vi velger å bo der nesten hver gang, ellers er det enklere å bo i sentrum.

Lovely environment, but not if you want a quiet stay.
Pros:

The room was comfortable, the building in parts historic and well maintained.
The grounds are lovely and very close to the beautiful Furness Abbey.

Cons:

Although we we were were warned in advance that there were functions on the Saturday night. We cam with earplugs, initially we thought the music we could hear in the room was from the party, but actually was from a speaker in reception in the ceiling, this was loud in the room and the music repetitive, eventually reception turned it off, they suggested if we stay again to ask for a different room!! My advice is do not stay in 122.

Fantastic hotel
Pros:

We booked this hotel last minute and got a great deal! on arrival we couldn’t believe how grand it looked from the outside and on entering found it to be just as nice with helpful staff and a lovely modern spotless room. We only booked the basic room so would love to see what the more expensive rooms are like? Evening meal and breakfast were both excellent with plenty of choice. What a great find and would recommend.

Cons:

Couldn’t really fault the hotel at all but if I had to say something it would be there was a railway line behind our room and could hear the odd train passing now and then but not a problem for us we had a great sleep!

We arrived for a stay for my friends wedding when we arrived our room was not ready which was fair enough but we were not offered anywhere to get changed for the wedding that started in an hour of our arrival

Our stay was relaxing and peaceful and we cannot wait to book again for another stay
Pros:

Breakfast was amazing and catered for everyone, we also had Evening Meal there with wine and this was also amazing and great value for money. Although there was a Wedding and another function on there it was still no hustle and bustle and the service was amazing
