A little dated, good value
Pros:

Comfortable, Clean and good value. It is not modern, and is a little tired/dated (a bit like myself!). Rooms are a good size. I would stay here again.

Pros:

No one at reception for check in, took twenty minutes to find someone, dirty rooms, wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, no hot water and “continental breakfast” and not had toast available.
Such a shame as lovely building, quiet setting but very tired and staff obviously don’t want to be there

Poor nights sleep
Pros:

In fairness this was just a 1 night stay but this is a very basic hotel in its current state. The reception is quite welcoming as an old Manor House style building. However the facilities in the bedroom are basic and a bit grubby. Our main issue was the comfort of the bed. It was so hard, like sleeping on a board, we didn’t sleep well at all. We opted for the inclusive continental breakfast with was acceptable but again very basic. Cutlery was rather dirty/water stained like it had just come out of the dishwasher. Nobody on reception when we left to highlight our observations even though this was at around 10 am. Wouldn’t stay here again. Quite cheap but needs attention in a number of areas.

Receptionist made the weekend
Pros:

I was staying for a weekend whilst playing in a sport tournament and the receptionist was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to help me and other team mates staying at the hotel.

I was in the bridal suite which was a pleasant surprise as we then used this as a team base.

Breakfast was nice, the continental included was a bit basic and could have done with a fruit bowl.

The cooked breakfast was lovely and well worth the extra £5 when we got it.

It’s an older building and decorated in keeping with the period which is lovely of high ceilings and ornate coving. There were a few spider webs and spiders in corners and window frames but it is the time of year for them as well.

We didn’t manage to try the restaurant as we’re back at the hotel too late after match days.

The hotel was quiet and would be lovely for older visitors, as we weren’t loud at all, but we didn’t fit in still.

Pros:

The staff are friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a bit tired, but for a 17th century building it's amazing. The room and bathroom were clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and filling.
Will definitely go again when I'm in the area.

Pros:

I have stayed in many hotels but my experience here was the worse. The room was so dated and needed complete renovation. There was a dead spider in the bedsheets, the hand wash was empty so unable to wash your hands, the toilet seat didn’t stay up at all, the shower soap dispenser had leaked all down the wall into the bath and the curtains were hanging off the rails. I did not tho k things could get worse until we came down for breakfast. No cups, no bowls, no milk, no tables to sit as they were all dirty and not cleared. The coffee / tea area had no bin for rubbish so was just left on the side. The yoghurt was presented still in its cardboard boxes. The orange juice etc was served in plastic pint glasses, which of course were in short supply. There was no fruit, no pastries, no cheese, ham etc that you would expect with a continental breakfast. Literally toast, cereal and yoghurt ….which to be fair if presented well would not have been a major issue. How this hotel is allowed to offer this standard is beyond me, throughout the whole hotel all areas are depressing, worn, dirty, floor tiles missing. The only thing we were grateful for was that we were only staying for one night and due to an event we were at we only got to the hotel just after 11pm so only needed to stay for a very short time.

Pros:

No food available arriving 8.30 after long drive. No milk in room to make a coffee. Filthy brown toilet and dirty bathroom floo, stained plastic shower curtain. Peeling paper on ceiling. Very soft indented mattress with no mattress protector just sheet straight on mattress. Single pill cases on old lumpy pillows. Breakfast plates all dirty. Egg on toast eggs greasy hard yolks and burnt whites. Didn’t bother with cooked fast after that. Will not be going again very poor for £98 per night

Pros:

Hotel okay for travel purpose, but lacking in staff service, customer care. Whole hotel tired and urgently needs refreshing. Room not cleaned during stay even though door hanger requesting this was placed on door. Low price did mean a better review but would not pay more and unlikely to return or recommend.

Not as nice as it seems from the photographs.
Pros:

While I rarely leave negative reviews, I feel it’s important to share this honestly. The hotel, though priced at a premium, showed signs of neglect in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer care. I offer this reflection in the hope that the management receives it constructively, and that future guests can make an informed decision. The hotel itself is a lovely, historic building, and there is plenty of parking. Staff were friendly when we first arrived.
Here are the points to note:
*Dirty quilt cover (brown mark) - reported to manager but not changed.
*Dust everywhere.
*Very Dirty windows.
*Dirty mirrors.
*Shower stuck on roasting hot - manager not there in the evening so nothing done until much later the next day when it was too late, as we needed to shower in the morning for our daughters graduation. Could not move rooms as hotel full.
*Sink tap drips and taps not cleaned.
*Bed rock hard - felt like sleeping on a block of concrete.
*Half a toilet roll in the bathroom on arrival for a 3 day stay. Had to go and ask for more.
*Bathroom door didn't lock.
*Main areas look impressive at first but when you look closer, you could see the stairs carpet had not been hoovered for quite some time.
*Included continental breakfast had a very poor selection of food, and was offered in a very dirty and grimy environment. The floors had not been swept and mopped for a long time as there was crumbs, stains, dead flies, empty packets of sugar etc. under and around the tables.

Friendly Staff and Spacious Rooms
Pros:

The staff were welcoming, even asked if we needed help taking our luggage to our room. The room was big and spacious, did have issues trying to turn the temperature down on the shower, but manage to work it out in the end. Went to the bar in the evening, very relaxing, the only downside was due to beibg short staff, they were struggling to keep on top of the washing up. Had a lovely sleep and the continental breakfast was good, staff did ask if we wanted to upgrade to a cooked breakfask, but we declined. Checkout was simple and easy, would definitely stay again.

Pros:

Beautiful property but ran a bit like faulty towers. My friend had no teabags, got teabags and discovered no kettle! Breakfast was very limited and items ran out. Asked for them to be replenished and it never was! The bed was comfy.
