This Royal George hotel is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
It is nothing like it's pictures on line, the place is run down, stinking and needs pulling down, how this place is still trading is beyond me.
Let me explain ...... I (like you) needed to book a hotel close to the center of Birmingham for one night, after checking the internet I came across The Royal George Hotel/Bar, it looks great on line (but it's not) it's a dump, when I arrived I walked into the bar (as there is no signage for the hotel) and was met by the roughest looking people (no offence) you will ever meet, the smell of human pee and people smoking weed was overpowering, the woman behind the bar asked me my name and said go into the back room to check in. The back room was another bar with a heavily stained pool table and wooden seats with no cushions, I was told I was on the first floor and she pointed to a lift and said use that (not sure if the place had stairs to the first floor) got in the lift which was yet another scary experience due to the lift car moving down slightly as I stood on it, got out on the first floor, the smell of human pee was making me feel sick, got into my room and again the smell hits you, the mattress had no springs in it so you just laid on the hard board of the bed base, the 1950s carpet was a mixture of 3 different heavily stained carpets, the room door did not lock, the bathroom was filthy, I stayed 40 mins, in that 40mins I booked a real hotel and left.
Lovely staff, dated rooms but heating and clean however no hot water for a shower or a shower curtain so the whole bathroom got wet
Alles prima te bereiken met de bus.
Deze stop om de hoek bij het hotel.
The staff were very freindly & helpful,
I messed up the booking & arrived 24 hours early but the lady very kindly still found us a room . Breakfast was cooked fresh & very nice .
Secure parking & close to the city centre with good transport links .
There are bed bugs and spiders in the room. Had to remain awake and clean the bed myself. Lot of bed bugs on the bed, walls and pillow case.
Good room. Friendly staff
Had bed bugs. I found put after as i had lots of marks and it was very itchy. Notified the hotel through hotels.com but never heard back from anyone.
very dirty sadly :,(
Excellence in Service. NEAT
Ridiculous couldn’t even cancel the booking a week before. Wouldn’t use you or anyone associated again
My interaction with staff was fine and a lovely lady called me a cab. The room was very drab with a broken window. The bed was comfy and warm room. It was fine just rather run down.
To start with the positives: the staff were really nice, the room was clean, and the breakfast was good. However, my room's window did not close properly, which meant that all the noise from the busy street and the cigarette smoke of the people smoking in front of the building came into my room. The bed was so wobbly I was scared it would collapse under my weight. Fortunately, it didn't. I was not happy that there was no storage space in the room: no shelves, only one hanger, no hooks or pegs. The sign in the room said that I would find the WiFi password on the invoice, but I did not receive an invoice. I did not receive anything at check-in, other than the key. The hotels.com receipt did not have a code, and none of the other communications from the hotel had it. On the plus side, I had good mobile reception, so I could use my mobile net. The emails from the hotel were confusing and misleading. They explained how to get to the car park at a different hotel, they explained how I can cancel my booking at a different travel company, not hotels.com, and they promised deep shag-pile carpet. There was no carpet in the room.
Excellent service and a great customer service.
Really good comfortable room, although room is above the pub, I had no noise at all. Breakfast was £7 and worth it, food was cooked fresh and coffee is brewed to order.
Will be rebooking here for sure:)
Very dirty area
I need to complain we paid for too rooms plus the breakfast for 2 for £22.
The place is extremely dirty and unsafe. When we contact hotels.com, they won't refund or relocate us, basically the did nothing. I absolutely hate it as i've been booked through Hotels.com for a long time and if they don't resolve this, i'm going to stop using it. Other online agent is a long better and cheaper.
We only sit down for 15mins and there are fleas and lices jump on us. Make us very itchy. We just can't stay there overnight.it's never 3 stars ar all!
Overall stay was good. Clean room and facilities. Staff very friendly. Unfortunately my room had bed bugs. That was the only downside.
Good
Hotel served its purpose as we were only staying the night, beds were comfy, room was ok but in need of decoration.
