Quiet. Lovely spa
Bit unorganized
Fabulous location in the countryside as we there to relax and explore Anglesey. The staff were amazing at making sure everything was right for our stay. Big shout out to Stefan the manager on duty, who went above and beyond and also the restaurant manager. The spa facilities were fantastic. We both enjoyed the steam room, the lovely size swimming pool and the jacuzzi. As we both enjoy playing snooker, it was a bonus that there was a billiards room at the hotel. (Great for the one rainy day we had) Not a complaint but this room could do with some tlc. Maybe it's just not used enough but we enjoyed it and the table and cues were in good condition. Our room was large and very comfortable and warm. All the staff we encountered, be it at reception, the bars, the restaurant and at breakfast were extremely friendly and professional. The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus were extensive and of excellent quality. We also made use of the beautiful library. A delightful room to relax, read, enjoy a drink with with friends or as we did, would go for pre supper drink and a game of back gammon. Totally recommend.
The location , facilities and room
Some Staff were distant and unfriendly. Reception on check in was chaotic.
Really exceptional building, welcoming staff, great parking, a nice feel to it. The Breakfasts were AMAZING, The full Welsh was the best breakfast ever & the poached eggs tremendous
Whilst the food in the Restaurant was good it was a very limited choice, especially the Starters & would benefit a couple more choices. A daily Special would help too
Lovely peaceful location within a short drive of local amenities in Llangefni. The hotel and grounds are so beautiful to look at, you can sit in the lobby and really step back in time. The spa facilities are fantastic. The Italian restaurant is in the main house and beautifully decorated (though not in keeping with the rest of the main house) My daughter had pizza and chips, pizza was a very generous size and tasty. I had a caprese salad and garlic bread pizza which were both tasty and good value (the only other vegetarian option was a marghareta pizza or arrabiata from memory) What we had of the breakfast was lovely, both the cooked and the continental. The staff that we encountered were all lovely ( receptionist, barman, servers, cleaners ) spoke to a lot of the guests and it seems like they have a lot of regular returners. Didnt go in the clockhouse cafe bar or the billiard room so can't comment on those. Saw a group of girls having afternoon tea in the library and that looked really nice. Room , bathroom and bed were decent sized and we were lucky enough to have a room with patio doors out onto a little terrace. Check out is 11 which made the morning nice and leisurely. Children are made to feel welcome
There were a few things that let it down. I messaged the hotel 2 weeks prior to our stay informing them we would be having the vegetarian breakfast so that they would be aware of stock levels and make sure things were available. Sat down to order and the waitress came back 5 mins later to say they were out of vegetarian sausages. We were the first in for breakfast so they must of known at least the day before they ran out, I would have expected with the prior notice that these things would not occur. Vegetarian options in the Italian are very limited and not very imaginative, the rest of the menu looked very appealing to the old meat eating me with a good choice. The cleanliness in the bathroom wasn't great, the back of the toilet seat was full of dust, splatters and hair and the back of the bathroom door was covered in splashes and makeup. The outdoor furniture in the terrace was green. Beds were very hard, could really do with a memory foam topper to relieve pressure points. Also to note there are restrictions on when children can use the pool that aren't clear on booking.com unless you look through all the pages. My daughter did really enjoy the time she did have in there though. For such a beautiful elegant building the above feel like it's being done an injustice, this could be an exceptional place with a little more attention to detail
So lovely clean place was idyllic staff great spa was lovely
