Lovely property, nicely tucked away from all the busy places. Lots of character and very quirky
We stayed another night and our 2nd room we moved to didn’t have a fridge or a smart tv
The facilities are great - lovely spa area/ massage and fantastic gym (it had just been installed). The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The food in the restaurant was very good and breakfast was excellent. The standout feature is the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay.
Our room had a 4 poster bed and, although a big room, it seemed very bare and lacked character. The bathroom was very small and dated. We would’ve expected more toiletries in the room for a 4 star hotel. Certainly the room did not match the 4 stars and the bathroom was nearer 2 star. Some net curtains at the window would be good to provide privacy during the day. A car was constantly parked outside our window which spoilt our privacy and view of the garden. There is ample parking available so there no need to park by a bedroom window.
Overall a bathroom upgrade is needed and improving the room facilities ie furniture and privacy.
Despite this, we really enjoyed our stay.
Very good
Beds & Pillows
Friendly reception, comfortable room with beautiful bathroom, good food with efficient friendly service, the grounds were beautiful, spa and swimming pool were lovely.
We had read some negative reviews and were most pleasantly surprised by everything
Nothing
Love this hotel. Love the splendour and Love the restaurant. Staff is all very pleasant.
Enjoyed the spa.
Our only issue was room , landing and stair cleanliness..
Our room paintwork needed wiping clean, there were notable marks and stains. The dressing table chair needed cleaning, crumbs etc evident at the back of the cushion. Carpets in public areas need daily hoovering.
This hotel is beautiful and has to be sparkling clean as it deserves no less.
pool
Fantastic place , lovely people, excellent food and great service.

First class hotel run by local people who have pride in there work, food accommodation and spa all first class
We had 2 nights in a lovely room, the area around was great for walks, it was also a lovely location, lovely foid in the restaurant in the evening and first class breakfast menu. An ideal location for sightseeing, will definately stay here on our next visit.
Nothing?
Great location, beautiful setting and very friendly staff.
The building is stunning and the location is beautiful. It feels very special. Spa facilities were a bonus.
There were a few things that detracted from the perfect stay. The safe in the bedroom was already locked, so not accessible and no teaspoons with the tea and coffee. These were brought to staff attention and I had to remind about the spoons, the safe was never rectified.Only three bulbs of the six worked in the main light meaning the room was a little dim. These might seem trivial, but it was SO close to being VERY special. Just lacked some attention to detail.
The spar was ok i would advise booking treatment in advance well in advance
When we got there the room was dirty I had to go to reception to complain they then came and cleaned room. I had an interconnected room where some random was trying to get in out room threw this door we were woken by loud music and arguing next door this went on till 3 am couldn't get hold of any one was literally up all night and had to then drive straight home in the morning as I was that tired I couldn't enjoy the facilities which waa dissapointin I waited a year and a half for this brake aa my daughter has a disability that means I dont get to leave her often
Old spooky manor with impressive staircase and garden. Spa and gym is functioning but needs a revamp.
Springs poking in my thighs. Old mattress. No daily cleaning service. They only bring coffee and toilet paper when you ask for cleaning. No lift. Hard to drag suitcase over gravel. Old gym and spa. Some cranky personnel. Italian restaurant booked my lamb and smothered it in gravy.. yuk. No Italian chef would do that…ever. Also the lounge chair mattresses in the pool area are dirty.
Beautiful! Spa was lovely, the suit was great and dinner was amazing
The food here was amazing! One of the best steaks ive had for lunch, and the lamb chops at dinner were fantastic, as was the afternoon tea (gluten free available and was great). Staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Grounds were kept well, with some lovely walks and gardens. I would reccomend highly and we would stay again for sure.
Some of the spa loungers were stained and looked a bit mucky - could do with new cushions and the robes need replacing as they were old.
They catered well for gluten free except at breakfast, where it was a little limited (few items not gf and just omitted from the plate, and no cereals), having said that, the portion size was good.
