A bit outdated and the ceilings were low. A bit of a walk from Ueno station so if you don’t like walking, maybe get a closer location. Still many places are close by to shop for food and whatnot

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. The hotel was just a couple of minutes away from the Metro and the price was very fair!

Clean, quiet, calm, great facilities.
This is not a social hostel. Don't go here if you're hoping for catered and managed events to help you find people with whom to travel. I went here as I wanted cheap, good, and quiet. That's what I got. I'm not saying it's not possible to meet people here as there is a downstairs area that's kinda like a lounge, just that it's not what it's designed for.
It's advertised as a 56 room dorm, this isn't correct. There are 4 floors of dorms with roughly 28 beds apiece.
They ask that all outside footwear be kept in storage by the door, and whilst this is very effective at preventing smell spreading to the rest of the room, it creates a localised smell upon entry to your dorm room that could be easily fixed with ventilation plumbed directly into that shoe and boot storage. That's pretty much my only, very minor, complaint and if fixed would elevate the place to an easy 10/10 for it's purpose.
