Small city hotel
Pros:

Cheap hotel with limited services. But all valuable for money. Located near Kridasono stadium. Just 10 minutes walk for the Scorpions concert. In hurry to catch my flight, but they still can provide my breakfast. Even thought only coffee and a toast. Thanx for that

Minimalist budget hotel
Pros:

For those who will spend their activities mostly out of the hotel, Sagan Huis is affordable and adequate for you to crash in. The room is spacious and not too shabby, although a little bit old. The shower is not hot, the bed is not as comfy as you imagined, the breakfast menu is minimum, there are mosquitos in the room, and a bit noisy in the ground floor. But hey, you get what you've paid for.

Spacial room in the center of Jogja
Pros:

I stayed for 5 days in this hotel and felt like at home. Its room quite wide and specificaly it has bath-tub.

As for the breakfast, they probably could improve it. However this hotale is located really in the center of Jogja, so I could walk around the neighbourhood and could find some nice cafes around.

minimalist hotel near Galleria mall
Pros:

I was chosing this hotel as a place to finish my assignment on february.
I love the fact that it was located downtown yet so quiet and noiseless. It was also convenient that the location near Galleria mall and some other shopping place/ eatery.
Love the room which is comfy and spacious though a little old fashion. The staff was friendly and helpful. The wifi was okay, good enough to do my assigment. The breakfast was so-so, not many choice of menu.
There was a little problem with the toilet though, made my stay a little unpleasant.
Overall I fairly satisfied with my stay, especially given the price

Ok...
Pros:

The room was spacious, but under furnished, could have done with another chair. Kept running out of toilet paper, and AC kept running strange preprogrammed modes that made us too cold at night. The outside waterfall was also a little loud. The breakfast were not great. The staff were helpful, and the same day turn around for laundry was great!

March - June 2016
Pros:

Great staff - positive, helpful and very kind. Nothing negative except for one rooster. It woke us op during the night, and made noises all the time. Without their rooster I would rate it 4/5. Made the difference. I would recommend it though

Stay here if very necessary!
Pros:

Pros:
1. Walking distance from main road and bus stand/ taxi.
2. Walking distance (if don't mind walking for 20-30 mins) from tourist areas.
3. Peaceful surroundings.

Cons:
1. Worst aircondition in the room; too small, hence, no cooling.
2. No vegetarian food for breakfast. Too little choices anyway for non-veg food.
3. Staff don't understand English.
4. No kettle or tea/coffee in the room.
5. Super cheap toiletries.
6. Too noisy at night as guests would sit and chat outside. Water fountain in the central courtyard make it worse during night when you wan just sleep.
7. White towels turned grey!

Highly recommended
Pros:

This is a great budget hotel, I will definitely stay at Sagan Huis again.

I was a little concerned as a few of the reviews said rooms could be noisy on the ground floor and I was in a room right in the middle of the ground floor. I slept very well Friday and Saturday though, there was no noise. I had an inside window to the walkway and still no noise and I was able to sleep in because it didn't get too bright. The staff were very helpful. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean and have lots of cupboard space. Wifi was ok but not good enough to upload photos.

The cafe is cute and there are tables out front of the hotel, it's on a nice street. The included breakfast was terrible, it didn't look good and the few things I tried were not very nice. There are a number of cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk though.

It is around the corner from Galaria mall and there are nearly always becak and taxi on the main road. It was also easy for my friends all over Yogya to find where I was, they all knew the area.

The only downside was I didn't see any women working there. Althe young men there were very nice and I felt totally safe but an Islamic woman traveling alone may not feel comfortable staying there.

Simple and affordable
Pros:

The room was fairly basic, but still comfortable enough. The staff are quite friendly. Breakfast was so-so, only rice options. You get what you pay for here. The location is not ideal, slightly away from the city centre.

small room with standard facilities
Pros:

What you pay according to what you get . I stay in a hotel room because that date all the hotels were full . The hotel rooms are small , fairly clean , the bathroom was passable, but the hot water was not hot sometimes but sometimes hot ☺ 😀 . for breakfast in the morning was standard only rice , side dishes and vegetables alone ☺ . so for a minimal budget you can live here

Nice but little bit overpriced
Pros:

I stayed for one night. Well, It's not bad for hotel in town. The room is so homey. The service also good, you will get free hot tea or coffee as a welcoming drink. It has coffee shop beside the lobby, but didn't try it. Because I prefer explore other cafe and resto around this hotel. Located very near with Galeria Mall, you can shop and dine again :)
But, I think the room price little bit overpriced. You can compare to more famous hotels.
It's okay, I felt like in my own home.

Really nice hotel in a bit of a remote location
Pros:

This hotel was slightly outside the price range of my friend and I, but it was the only one available that had AC at the time we booked it. It turned out to be a really nice place (clean and people actually came to clean rooms while you were gone), and the staff there were incredibly friendly. However, I totally underestimated the distance between the hotel and Jl. Malioboro and other interesting sights, and we ended up taking a lot of taxis while there. Factor in that extra transportation cost or plan ahead before booking. The food seemed like it was brought in from the warung across the street, but it was good. The wifi was pretty accessible and the hot water was always available. Nearby is a Bumbu Desa (popular and delicious Indonesian restaurant chain) and a place that shows French films and sells pastries!

New but lacking of finishing touch. Always available :)
Pros:

We choose this hotel because this was the only option left during New Year's Eve. Price was a little bit expensive, although it was a relatively new hotel.

The room was clean and okay, but was quite overpriced for the price we paid.

Location is quite ok, located not very far from the city center. The surrounding environment appears to be an upscale residential area, which is quiet and safe. There are some cheap, hip, chic eateries (appealing cafes and some lesehan warung) and a shopping centre (mall) located very near to this hotel (in walking distance).

Breakfast was very basic and so-so.

The shortages we found were:

- When we entered the room, there was water leaking from the ceiling, wetting the floor. They soon did something to fix it.
- hot water was not on in the morning but soon they fixed the problem
- the bathroom gets flooded quickly since the sinkhole was clogged

Very nice apart from one crucial thing!
Pros:

Nice place clean rooms nd reasonable. The only problem is that when you want to sleep in on weekends. They wake you up with the most awful musician you have ever heard. It echoes around the whole building, then when you go for breakfast you have to suffer the awfull an very loud music instead of the tranquil environment.

If they removed him it would be a lovely place, with him he makes it a torture chamber! (aka an unenjoyable place to stay)

my enjoyable stay at Sagan Huis
Pros:

Sagan Huis provides what i need. the Staffs are typical Jogjakartans who like to Smile and helpful. The hotel used to be a boarding house (that's what i heard) and the owner transformed it into Hotel.

The room is quiet big, matress also is king size and very comfortable, food is okay and since i came during Ramadhan, i got some sweets to break the fasting. Traditional food or authentic sweets for ramadhan which is nice.

The minus points of this hotel are:
- in the front of the rooms is gathering area and in the evening some people chill with thier friends there so it is noisy, especially if you need time to relax.
- TV cable is not full, only a few international channels while there are some channels are blocked by the Hotel so it is inconvenient to change the channels.
