Traditional style hotel in very good position
Pros:

I chose to stay at the Royale Chulan because of its proximity to the old part of George Town. My room was on the 5th floor and looked over the pool area to the sea which was lovely. The bedroom and bathroom were a good size and well appointed, although there was a little bit of wear and tear noticeable. There were plenty of options for breakfast and staff were very attentive in clearing plates and resetting tables.

Cons:

The room had a balcony but it was Juliet style so of no real benefit. Currently, there is lots of roadworks and redesign of the waterfront happening. However, noise from this wasn't a problem.

Good Location - walking distance to almost all sights in the old town.
Incredible breakfast. Very good variety and quality.Parking option.
Pool ist nice and clean. Spacious rooms.
Friendly door and cleaning staff.

Cons:

All in all a bit old. Narrow and dark carpeted corridors. One of the two rooms we had smelled damp. Towels and swimming gear would not dry.
Carpet and curtains seemed a bit old. It is like luxury from another time....
