Location and views of the animals is fantastic, rooms are big and comfortable. Air con was great on a hot night.
We knew ahead of time that the splash pool was closed for maintenance but when we arrived at the main pool the spa/jacuzzi and steam room were also put of order.
Entertaining for the kids and lots of provisions
Poor organisation and communication. We were looking forwards to the splash pool but it was closed no one told us. Breakfast needed booking and we got sent somewhere else instead. Why not have a handy checklist in each room
The location is obviously great. My child found it all very exciting.
The room was very tired and felt quite grubby. The heavy fire doors are allowed to slam constantly by other occupants and shake the whole building. Other occupants were very loud into the night which is frustrating when you have a small child trying to sleep
Location, overall cleanliness and atmosphere
How dirty the windows were. We paid for a savannah view but was disappointed with how dirty they were when trying to see the animals
The theming was very nicely done, the smell in the Azteca hotel was really good and felt fitting with the theme. The breakfast was nice, lots of choice and plenty left. The little task to unlock the safe was also fun for the children.
The beds were incredibly uncomfortable. It was ridiculously noisy, there is no soundproofing at all. At 11:30pm the people above us were incredibly noisy, banging around and running along the corridors and shouting. I had to go to reception and was told it was a school trip who’d just arrived. And offered no solution or much apologies. Whilst I understand everyone wants to have fun, this noise carried on till 1:30am and kept my young children awake. At £176 a night I think the least you expect is able to sleep! Not worth the money at all!
Room is spacious and has a desk. Bed is a good size. Nice bathroom with a shower.
Have stayed here many times. Starting to get tired and run down. Some lights in the room didn't work. Steam room broken, again. Sauna like warm. Jacuzzi didn't work, again.⁷

Upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed to discover that the indoor pool was closed. This was something we were very much looking forward to and was, in fact, the primary reason we chose to book with you. This visit was also a special occasion as it was my daughter's birthday, which made the disappointment even greater. We feel this closure should have been clearly communicated on your website and on Booking.com prior to our arrival, so that guests could make an informed decision about their booking.
The breakfast was also very disappointing. The quality of the food was well below the standard we would expect, with the eggs and sausages in particular being of very poor quality.
Additionally, on check-in there was no one present at the reception desk, which left us feeling extremely unwelcome and as though the hotel was unstaffed.
We have visited your hotel on a number of occasions previously and have always enjoyed our stays, however on this occasion the experience fell significantly short of expectations and we are unlikely to return.
Joanne who works in the zafari bar at breakfast was amazing she was friendly, upbeat very welcoming, she should be promoted to a trainer and train all the staff in the hotel how to greet guests. The reception staff were not at all welcoming or friendly or helpful!! Highly suggest that head office do a mystery shop and visit the site as a customer to experience it from a consumer point of view.
Overall the property did its job but for us we would not rate it higher than a 3 star due to the run down facilities, splash pad closed, jacuzzi closed, steam room closed, no towels available in the pool shop, staff all looked miserable everywhere we went they look like that are overworked and underpaid!!
Restaurant was packed at dinner time, we went out for food because we could predict that the food wouldn’t be good due to high volume of customers and staff all looked unhappy it put us off eating there!
Some of the Cleaners were friendly to be fair but again some of them looked liked zombies, didn’t even notice us walking past!
Staff were very friendly and helpful during stay. Hotel clean. Savannah was great and having the animal walk around bit as a hotel guest benefit really sold it and made it unique to hotel guests
View from the room was savannah but did have a roof view of below which wasn’t the nicest of sights. Could have been tidied up there as you can see this area from the hotel room view. Disappointed the savannah walk around track was mostly closed, maybe needing repair as looked worn, but thought this was included in the hotel being able to access the savannah look out but was closed
They access to the park and the breakfast was actually really good
Rooms weren't great ... None of the TVs worked I booked 2 rooms so in total 4 TVs in the rooms none of them worked normally did the WiFi .... Asked reception 8 times and got we will be 20 mins ... I finally had a knock on the door a 1145 pm ... Whilst everyone was asleep then woken to be told they could them fix them now when complaint was put in at 330 pm ... Air con didn't work one room was like a sauna the other was like Antarctica... I had 3 children with me .. and had to put baby in the room as it didn't accommodate... Took 4 hours to get fans to the room ... Reception staff on arrival where great but after this it was a slippery slope considering for 1 night we spent £450 just for rooms couldn't get swimming nor a restaurant reservation... Iam appalled... And all I got told was to give feedback on website etc .... This is shocking and a rip off ... 2 days 1 over night has cost me close to £1000 ... It's a joke ... Even free parking nope ... Got given a 3 vouchers and still had to pay to exit .. £26 for 3 hours and 54 mins .....
Wont be returning
The kids enjoyed the theming of the room and the treasure hunt in the room.
I found the bed a bit hard and uncomfortable.
