Categories

Cleanliness
6.8
Multiple reviews cite poor cleanliness (dirty tables, rooms and windows needing attention; some guests called the resort 'tired' and 'not the cleanest'), though a few mentioned the hotel was 'clean and tidy'.
Service
8.8
Service is mixed but largely positive: several guests described staff as 'fantastic', 'friendly', 'welcoming' and helpful, though there are repeated complaints about communication, check-in guidance and occasional unhelpfulness.
Location
9.5
Consistently praised — excellent proximity to the park/theme-park access and unique safari views (overlooking zebras/safari animals) make location a major strength.
Room Quality
8.2
Rooms receive praise for themed design, decor and air conditioning, but issues were noted (very hard mattress in one report, some rooms described as needing renovation and windows/rooms requiring cleaning, cot without mattress).
Amenities
7
Several amenity issues: multiple pool facilities, baby splash area and jacuzzi were out of service or closed during stays; lifts described as small and cramped; overall mixed/under-maintained amenities.
Value for Money
7.2
Frequently described as pricey/expensive (including restaurant prices). Guests accept the premium for location but feel some conveniences (e.g., mini-fridge options) and comfort could be improved for the price.
Food and Beverage
7.6
Mixed feedback: some guests praised breakfast and dinner and staff accommodating late arrivals, while others found breakfast limited and food only 'ok' or disappointing on occasions.
Overall Experience
9.7
Despite specific issues (cleanliness, some amenity closures and inconsistent communication), many guests described a 'magical' stay, would return or recommend, and highlighted memorable aspects (design, safari views, family-friendly atmosphere).

Better than I expected from the recent reviews
Pros:

After reading all the reviews, I can’t lie I was not expecting much when we stayed here to spend 2 days at Chessington however I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not a luxury hotel but then at the price we paid and being familiar with the brand I already knew that. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped. We were warned that rooms backing on to the theme park may be affected by spooky noises from one of the ride soundtracks at night but we were not affected. I understand air con is not working at full capacity but we had a fan if needed and it wasn’t an issue. The main pluses for us were the fact it’s literally a 5-10min walk to the main entrance of the theme park and all the staff we encountered in the hotel and restaurant were very friendly and helpful (despite very clearly being understaffed - with special mention to Chloe and the restaurant chef who the kids were very taken with). The breakfast was fine in my opinion and pretty standard as to what I’ve found in most hotels like this. If you have the energy, I’d probably suggest eating elsewhere for your other meals as the food was pretty pricey for the quality and quantities that were provided but all in all we had a great time and it was all fine

Good location, needs more staff
Pros:

Location is great for chessington and plenty of parking. However the lack of staff caused a big issue at dinner time and was also noticeable at breakfast. This needs to be sorted, the poor staff that are working are really struggling

Very disappointing stay – maintenance issue completely ignored
Pros:

I stayed at the Premier Inn Chessington with my two young daughters and unfortunately had a very poor experience.

Shortly after checking in at around 7pm, I discovered that the bathroom sink waste was leaking badly enough that water was splashing onto our feet and pooling around the sink and toilet. I immediately reported it to reception because I was concerned about the obvious slip hazard, particularly with young children. The receptionist, a young man called , Jay, jovially told me he didn’t know what to do, so I asked him to contact the manager. I was told the maintenance person wasn’t available until 10pm. There were also no other rooms available.

At around 9:30pm, having heard nothing, I went back to reception. I was told I could use another room’s bathroom, but that a member of staff would have to stand outside while we used it. I wasn’t comfortable with that, particularly with my daughters, so I asked instead for the maintenance person to come to our room as soon as they were available.

Nobody came.

Nobody inspected the leak. Nobody checked on us. Nobody provided an update. Nobody came to clear the water or provide towels. We simply had to deal with it ourselves.

We consequently couldn’t use the bathroom normally and I wasn’t comfortable allowing my daughters to use it without supervision because of the wet floor.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the response I subsequently received from Premier Inn’s Executive Team. They claimed that staff had offered to clear the water and provide additional towels, which I declined, and that they hadn’t told me a member of staff would have to supervise the use of the alternative room. All lies!

They also stated that there was no on-site maintenance available that night, despite me specifically being told that the maintenance person would be available from 10pm and asking for them to attend.

I’m understand faults happen. I’m dissapointed about how the hotel dealt with it and essentially called me a liar. With two young children and a wet bathroom floor, I expected someone to actually attend, assess the problem and communicate with us. Instead, we were effectively left to deal with it ourselves.

Very disappointing customer service and not the standard I expected from Premier Inn. Won’t be staying here again! The room was dirty aswell.

Pros:

Lovely themed rooms for the park. Easily accessible. Great staff.

Cons:

Price is crazy. Earlier check in times would be nice. The gift in the safe was a let down compared to Legoland. Buffet breakfast needs to be hotter

Short staffed
Pros:

The waitress in the restaurant was an absolute superstar. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name, however she was working the whole place on her own. She was sorting the seating, taking orders, serving food, cleaning tables, making drinks, making desserts and the list goes on. She did not get flustered she just got on with the job. Although the whole situation was completely unfair on her, she really did do well and deserves recognition.
