If I could go back, I would have changed hotels on day one.
I planned this trip for months. My parents are older, they don't speak English or Spanish, and I wanted to give them a comfortable few days in Barcelona. A 4-star hotel with good reviews seemed like the right call. I requested a higher floor and a quiet room when I booked. We ended up on the second floor, right beside the elevator. Not ideal, but I understood it was a preference.
What I didn't expect was the bathroom. Something smelled off from the second morning. I went downstairs, explained the problem nicely, and asked if they could move us. "We'll take care of it while you're out," they told me. So we went out, explored the city, and came back that evening expecting it to be sorted.
It wasn't. Nothing had been touched. I called the front desk again. This time someone actually came up. They looked around, said the issue needed a proper repair, and asked if we could step out. We'd literally just walked through the door after a full day of walking. We couldn't. So they did the work right there in the room while we sat on the beds. When they were done, the room smelled worse than before, just differently. They'd gone heavy on the air freshener. My head was pounding. I opened the window for air and realized the window looks directly into the elevator shaft area. People walking by could see right in. So that was the trade-off: headache or no privacy.
Here's the thing that really got me. Over two days, staff came into that bathroom several times. Inspected it, repaired something, checked again. Not one person found the actual problem. On checkout morning, as I was getting ready to leave, I noticed water sitting around the base of the toilet. It had been leaking. That was almost certainly the source of the smell the entire time. I also spotted mold running along the edges of the shower enclosure. Not the kind that appears in three days. That had been growing for a while.
The smaller issues kept piling up too. We had no shampoo for the entire stay. Three nights. Housekeeping came in every day, tidied the room, and left without noticing. I genuinely thought the hotel just didn't provide it and washed my hair with shower gel the whole time. On our last evening, I came back to find only one bathrobe in the room. There had been two that morning, neatly folded. Nobody explained where they went. And on more than one occasion, I knocked back with "just a moment" when staff came to the door, only to have it opened on me anyway.
I wrote management an email while still at the hotel. They sent someone up at 8 PM on our final night. The offer was to switch rooms or have drinks at the bar. At 8 PM. On our last night. With my elderly parents already settled in for the evening. I said no to both.
After checkout, I sent another email with photos of the toilet leak and the mold. The response was a refund of fifty euros and an invitation to come back at a discounted rate. On a stay that cost over thirteen hundred euros. I asked for one night refunded. They told me the room had been "functional" and that because I'd booked through a third party, their options were limited.
I spent the following week going back and forth with Agoda. Four separate conversations. The hotel didn't respond to a single one of Agoda's messages. Agoda eventually told me they couldn't do anything without the hotel's cooperation.
Every single conversation, every phone call, every email, every chat session with customer support was handled by me alone. My parents had no idea what was going on half the time. I was translating situations, managing complaints, and trying to keep the trip from falling apart. It wasn't the vacation any of us had imagined.
The people working the front desk were consistently warm and professional. I have no complaints about them as individuals. But this room had problems that predated our arrival, and the way management handled it never matched the seriousness of what we experienced.
The H10 Metropolitan is our new must stay at place in Barcelona. While the location and hotel itself was exactly what we were looking for, it was the staff that made this place extraordinary. We were travelling with another couple and the lady hurt her knee in town. The hotel let us use a wheelchair and we arranged for medical care. While trying to follow up with medical care on the phone we had a medical receptionist who only spoke Spanish. I explained the situation to the staff, what we needed to communicate and they called for us and literally talked to several departments to get us to the international specialty of the hospital.
Nothing bad to say about this great hotel. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Bed is very comfortable, nice terrace, perfect working wifi.
Breakfast is great, cozy bar and food is good as well.
The real 'gold' of this hotel is the staff! From the reception, to the bar, to the breakfast, all of them are extremely friendly and helpfull!
Don't hesitate to choose this hotel if you want to visit Barcelona!
Almost forgot: amazing location at 2 steps of the Plaza Catalunya.
I was here for the Alimentaria fair but wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel for a city trip either.
Hotel was clean and tidy as expected and in a great location.
Breakfast was great
What really stood out to me though was i ran the marathon on Sunday (15/03/26) leaving my partner on her own for a good few hours.
She went to breakfast alone and one of the staff (didn’t catch her name but she had curly red hair) asked where I was (after only visiting once, she remembered we were a couple) and my partner mentioned that I was running so she took extra care of my partner AND sent up breakfast to my room after I was finished so I had something to eat afterwards and honestly, I think that’s just a great touch! She also asked me the next day how it went so just these small details make you want to go back!
Couldn’t recommend more!
We stayed at the H10metropolitan Barcelona for one night. Hotel is located in a great location close to plaza Cat. H10 hotels are always nice so everything went as expected. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and I loved the shower. It was amazing. Highly recommend this hotel.
There was nothing, and I mean nothing we didn’t like about this hotel. We had been moved here as their sister hotel we had originally been booked in around the corner was having renovations.
The hotel reception is beautiful, a lovely concierge helped us with our luggage and took it to our room. The reception staff were delightful.
Our room was large and really well appointed, a gorgeous little balcony where we had coffee the next morning with the cookies they provided, overlooking the bathing area. It was all beautifully clean, huge shower.
Right outside the door of the hotel were a variety of different tapas bars where we enjoyed some delicious food. A few short minutes to the square from where we took a Christmas lights bus tour.
We returned to the hotel around 10pm bringing some friends from another hotel and we sat in the very comfortable bar area and had hot chocolates and Brandy which we thought reasonably priced. It was a warm comfortable haven after a cold bus ride. The staff were wonderful. Sofas incredibly comfortable.
In short this hotel is a dream… great staff, great amenities and good value. It’s all the little things that hade the difference, the water at reception, the candy, the perfect coffee machine, the cookies and the bathroom vanities, even warm rugs to use on the balcony, that really really made me want to stay longer. My husband declared one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in…. The complete package.
We will be back!!!

My sister and I recently enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at this hotel. We were looking for a relaxing escape, and this place truly delivered! We had a room with views of the city and was incredible.
The staff were professional and quick—check-in was a breeze and any questions we had were answered instantly. The whole hotel feels immaculately maintained.
We were particularly impressed by the sense of order and safety here. The personnel handling entry and exit were always vigilant but very polite, and we felt extremely secure throughout our entire stay. It was a relief knowing we didn't have to worry about anything.
The location is fantastic, just a short walk from some great restaurants. We didn't want to leave!
If you're looking for a comfortable, clean, and safe place to stay, look no further. We will definitely be back!
H10 Metropolitan is perfectly located in the heart of Barcelona—you’re central to everything you need to see and do. The hotel itself is lovely, with spacious rooms and a rooftop pool that’s an added bonus for relaxing after a day of exploring.
The breakfast was by far the best we had throughout Spain and Portugal—great variety and quality that really stood out.
One thing to note: do not expect the hotel to honor early check-in requests. Not only do they not accommodate them, but there’s no effort to make waiting guests comfortable. Plan accordingly if you arrive before the standard check-in time.
Overall, a fantastic stay if you value location, comfort, and an exceptional breakfast.
Stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights in October. The hotel is welcoming and modern. Our room was spacious - surprisingly so for an inner-city hotel - and very quiet.
The staff were all highly attentive and helpful. The lounge which continues into a terrace was a great place to relax after a day’s trek around Barcelona.
Nice hotel with a good breakfast.
Good common area to arrange meetings with people.
Room clean with appropriate space.
Corridor with open "windows" that permit in case of wet weather to feel very uncomfortable.
Service 100% professional
We left this hotel at 5:30am because we could not sleep due to the noise outside of the hotel. This was due to poor window seals that let all of the street noise in and the fact that a group of people stood outside of the hotel for literally the entire night, drinking and yelling. They were still there when we left at 5:30 in the morning. Knobs on the cabinets came off and the toilet was unstable. This was by far the most expensive of the five hotels we stayed in during our two week visit to the country and it was the one in the poorest condition with the loudest street traffic making it through the windows. We couldn’t sleep at all. In Madrid, we stayed in the city center and had a terrace that had less noise and in the Gothic Quarter, we were half a block away from the metro, again, with a terrace and that also had less noise. The only perk for this place was that it was within walking distance to the bus to the airport. This hotel obviously caters to American tourists, which is probably why it was more expensive while being the worst experience.
Very centrally located with great restaurants nearby and fantastic transportation
We had a great time at our stay in the hotel. Anna was so helpful at check-in and the rest of the staff was always helpful and friendly. We travelled with our kids (6 and 8) and they enjoyed the options of both pools. We will stay here again on our next visit!
Our stay at the H10 Metropolitan was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always making us feel welcome. The hotel is stylish, comfortable, and spotless, with a great rooftop terrace and pool to relax after exploring.
The location is unbeatable right on Plaça Catalunya, within walking distance of Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, and great shops and restaurants. Perfect hotel, perfect staff, perfect location, we’ll definitely be back!
From the moment i checked in, i was made to feel special...it's the little touches such as cava/juice on arrival to the turndown chocolates that make this hotel really live up to it's rating. I could not fault a single thing. The cleanliness was exceptional and not once did i need to ask for anything extra. They really have thought of everything and have a very customer-focused attitude. The rituals toiletries are a stand-out feature with separate shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and body lotion as well as the complimentary toiletry bag of essentials. Every member of staff was polite, friendly, professional and attentive, nothing too much trouble and they all really deserve to be recognised for their hard work and outstanding service. They helped me figure out buses, accommodated an early check in and did their best to let me keep my room as long as possible...this is free until 2pm which is very appreciated. Despite being a solo traveller i always had 2 sets of towels so never short. The rooftop pool cocktail was lovely with the bar guy striving to please. Cava at breakfast...5! I had breakfast inc. 2 days and anticipated just continental...oh no plenty of hot food choices cooked to order, and on the 3rd decided to pay as it was so lovely...dear at €24 BUT worth every penny. The view from the rambla room was as pictured and having that little balcony really made my stay, definitely go for a mid-upper floor rambla room. Charging points for 2 different usb types next to the bed without needing a bulky adaptor...win! The pool areas were both lovely and a highly needed addition at the end of a hot long day walking around, yes they're only small and waist high...but perfect to dip and still roomy enough to have a mini swim. Finally, the location...perfect for a central hub, lots of beautiful tapas restaurants and cocktail bars on the doorstep. I felt very safe as it was a busy tourist area but not so much it felt crowded. The fountains at night from balcony were stunning and both hop on hop off buses a 2 min walk! Ive loved my 3night mini break so much i'm already looking at coming back in October to do everything else i didnt get chance to do. Thank you H10 metropolitan for making my 1st solo trip so special.
Tip:- go to the 'bosc de les fades' bar for a unique experience. Use the hop on hop off as transport...i did 48hr and well worth it and definitely do park guell and casa battlo. Book tickets in advance via tiquets as you get discount.
We are currently staying at the H10 Metropolitan hotel. We are 2 nights into our 4 night stay before boarding a cruise. The hotel is in a great location. Lots of stores and restaurants in close walking distance. The hotel also offers a breakfast for a fee that has been very good. They have something for everyone. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel.
H10 was a perfect location with wonderful staff
