Location was brilliant. The room was clean and the bed was very clean and comfortable. The fridge wasn't working properly, a plastic shelf was broken and the ice box was literally a box of ice.
Ice cubes in a defrosted ice box and a butter knife would have been handy. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable stay.
The check-in staff member was excellent, pleasant and very accommodating. She was a local who had a good knowledge of the area. The lift was a good option for us older folks loaded with luggage. The location and rooms sizes were also good. Spa bath in one of the rooms enjoyed by grandson. Three supermarkets, McDonalds, beach and main street all in walking distance. Our room was very quiet at the back of the hotel. Parking was good too.
The rooms weren't serviced and there were no cleaning facilities provided so unable to clean dishes, rubbish bins not emptied etc. No microwave so unable to heat food in rooms. Having to leave dirty towels in corridor when the weekend manager brought us fresh towels.
Clean and acceptable for alot of restaurants and nice view
Great value for money. Big, clean and tidy rooms. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was really nice. All staff including the restaurant were lovely and friendly

Location was great. Had dinner at the reception and it was amazing, staff nice and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and the reception staff very informative. The location very close to city center, very walkable to a number of different restaurants. The breakfast was at the hotel's restaurant, which included a buffet of the usual cereals, fresh fruits, tea, coffee, breads, etc and a cooked choice from the restaurant menu. The AC in the room was pretty good and reasonably quiet when running at night. The hot water was really good in the shower.
The lack of car parking - you had to arrive back to the car park area early if you wanted a park close to the reception area, if the car park was full, you had the option to park across the road at a local business car park.
Location is good and quite central to the main street in New Plymouth, many restaurants/cafes are walking distance from the hotel. Room is spacious and bathroom as well.
Beds are comfortable and not too hard/soft. Staff are also great and helped to accommodate an issue we had with our booking.
The air conditioning/thermostat was not working properly. Room felt very stuffy at night and we were unable to sleep well that night due to this. Should consider installing a proper air conditioning unit in each room or upgrade the central air con unit. This issue is the main reason why the rating is a 6.
