Pool was closed on sunday,
Room wasn't clean
Hairs in bath
Fake nails found in bin under bag when I was removing in. Hairs and heavy dust on the carpet
Room was very warm no way to control heating
Very disappointed

Could do with a fan in the room during hot weather

Dear General Manager, (So sorry I cant find your Name and I get no reply when I call to ask)

I am writing regarding our recent stay at your hotel, Monday Aug 10th which I booked some time ago through Booking.com at a cost of €171.

I chose your hotel specifically because it was advertised as a spa and leisure hotel. As my partner is disabled, having leisure facilities at the hotel was particularly important to us. I did contact the hotel on the day of our stay and was advised that there was a tidal pool a couple of kilometres away. Unfortunately, this was not really a suitable alternative for my partner, but we were still very much looking forward to our stay.

Sadly, the experience fell considerably short of what we had expected.

When we arrived, I went to reception to check in. The receptionist was busy typing and did not acknowledge me, so I eventually had to ask to be checked in. I was told, rather abruptly, “I will in a minute, I am busy.” I completely understand that staff can be under pressure, but a simple acknowledgement and a polite indication that someone would be with us shortly would have made a big difference.

When we reached our room, we noticed there was only one sachet of coffee. We also requested a jug of water. We were told that the staff were very busy and that it would take approximately 30 minutes.

After an hour, we rang reception again, but there was no answer. We called three times without success. I eventually had to ring from my mobile and leave a message on the answering machine. The receptionist subsequently explained that she had been unable to answer because she was busy checking in guests.

We eventually received the water and coffee approximately one hour and 45 minutes after our initial request.

Unfortunately, there were a few other issues. The bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable and, in my opinion, the mattress is in need of replacement.

The following morning, I realised that I had forgotten to bring my shampoo.

I had a broken kettle which I was disappointed but I got it replaced with a new one. Also I woke up by people talking which was ok.

Loved every minute

The reception staff on any interaction during our stay did not seem enthusiastic or attentive. Conversations were short and flat, it gave the impression that staff were more interested in the computers on their desk rather than ensuring a warm welcome or farewell.
The room was nice, however decor throughout the hotel and room was dated. For a popular hotel such as the Broadhaven, I was expecting a bit more modern decoration (although I am aware is not the biggest issue to have with our stay). The bathroom was basic. Toilet so close to the wall it was laughable, early 2000s yellow lighting, bath-shower with shower head probably older than myself and less water pressure than I have seen coming from a leaky hose.
Dinner. We went down to the bar for dinner and as we are used to in most food establishments, even small cafès in our locality, we waited to be seated. Nobody came up to us at all so I asked the barman if we were to sit ourselves to which he replied that was fine. The waitress did bring us our menus and took drink orders and meal orders, we thought this was when we would experience the impeccable service and food that we had heard so much about. Unfortunately not. The food was ok. Nothing I would write home about. We spent more time waiting for our food and then waiting with empty starter and main plates when we did eventually receive and finish our meals while we witnessed waitresses congregating and chatting at a desk on the other side of the room. Now as we were on holidays we were absolutely in no rush, but there comes a point after 20 minutes following your main meal when you have the chance to notice that you hadn’t been asked during the entirety of the meal ‘how is everything?’ or ‘can we get you anything else?’. It may seem like small details to some but as a couple with past hospitality and a current customer service experience, it was a detail that both myself and my partner could not see past.

Although it was comfortable the room badly needs a coat of paint and a bathroom makeover. It would be nice if the pool could re-open. I would still stay there again.

Would have liked bottled water to drink,in the bedroom along with showercap in the bathroom.
