The location was great, the rooms were very nice and the breakfast was good
When we got back in the room around 10 pm there was a puddle of water on the floor around the refrigerator and realized the freezer had not been defrosted prior to our check in and the ice had melted, we contacted the front desk but since maintenance was not available we just moved the freezer control to a higher level , but I think it should be defrosted or set at the proper temperature prior to every check in
We stayed at the Hotel Metropol from July 24 to 26th. We were 6, 2 grandparents my son and his wife and our two granddaughters. We chose the Beach House. Is a beautiful apartment on a second floor with a huge living room and a dining table that sits 10, a full kitchen, and a big deck from which you can watch the concerts in the beach. The day of arrival it was wamr and there was a malfunction in the A/C. Maybe the previous occupants left the doors open while the A/c was on and the unit froze. Everybody was super helpful trying to solve this, besides bringing us many fnas, and calling an a/c guy that could not come until the next morning. Fortunately at 11 pm I realized the unit frost tht prevented functioning had melted and I turned on the a/c again iand it worked flawlesly ntil our departure.
The manager Asia and other people involved were extremely helpful and spent several hours troubleshooting the problem.
Except for that temporary glitch, we had an incredible time there, the acomodations were high class, and the location was centric. We came with the ferry and had to walk 5 blocks to the hotel, very convenient. Close to great restaurants, the beach, and nything you might need. Very highly recommended. If I need to return with my family again the Beach House would be the one I could rent.
I reserved a Deluxe Sleeper for four people based on the hotel’s website promising a King bed plus twin pull-out or two queens. What we got was outrageous. They first reserved us into a single king room with one bed for four people. After we complained, they moved us to another room with just a king bed and a tiny twin sofa bed. How does any hotel accept a booking for four people and think a single twin sofa is acceptable sleeping for a family? It was cramped, ridiculous, and unsafe for kids.
They had already given away our actual reserved room. Then they forced us into a depressing basement-level room with a terrible view of a blank wall, poles, and mechanical junk. No operable windows — just stale, awful air. This is blatant false advertising. Their “Deluxe Sleepers” do not match the photos or descriptions.
We lasted one miserable night and left for the Atwater, where they gave us a proper family room with zero issues.
Management’s canned response tried to spin it as a minor “mix-up” and acted like waiving fees was some huge courtesy. It completely ignored how they repeatedly assigned us unfit rooms for a family of four.
This wasn’t bad luck — it was incompetence and dishonesty. Do not stay at Hotel Metropole. Save your money and book anywhere else in Catalina.
Great hotel location close to everything. The staff at this hotel, from the front desk to housekeeping, are the best. All of the staff go above and beyond to ensure that you are experiencing a great stay. Book this clean hotel well in advance because the property is in high demand.
Location was wonderful and the staff was wonderful! And, of course, Avalon is wonderful!
Breakfast set up was not good. There were no tables so you had to hold things on your lap. This is really awkward with cereal and I can’t imagine how hard it is with kids. Plus, it’s in a space that has opening to the outdoors, so it is not warm and cozy. One of our two days, the maid had not come even by 1:30 in the afternoon.
Staff and breakfast were good.
The hotel didn't feel at all secure with our room on the main floor and little staff around at night to prevent someone from taking the elevator up and being outside our door. I also felt the price was way too high for the room's cleanliness, decor, etc. In comparison to other others we discovered once there, it was very overpriced and not as nice.
First, we would love to give a huge shout out to Venessa at the front desk. Family and I, arrived on the island and we had 4 night reservation for another hotel. Long story short, after first one night we had to leave! I showed up at Venessa's desk telling her the story and in no time (hotel close to fully booked-summer break!), She found us a 2 queen room, got us an early complimentary check in (we've stayed at Metropole numberous time), but offered us a champagne in the room. What a hospitality! We did not expect this type of compation and problem solving, a true representative of Hotel Metropole.
Now the pros:
Location is amazing, navigation around the hotel or around it is perfect, close to everything, especially the breakfast shop on presmises and of course customer service. The room was exceptionally clean, I saw the service ladies actually mopping the floors after vacancy of other rooms.
cons: second floor rooms overlooking the courtyard, get loud because of the shops. If you want to sleep in passed 9am, it's not happening...at least when we stayed there which was June 9-12, 2026.
PERFECT location. Simple yet classy rooms. Loved the fire place and high end bathroom amenities. Received great service throughout. They provided a complimentary upgrade so I could check in early in order to settle in prior to scuba diving. Icing on the cake was me forgetting my gopro battery on the nightstand and with one phone call they're quick and pleasing response that they'd mail it to me that day and only charge me for the postage. The speed and efficiency and thoroughness of the service was exemplary. Will definitely be back with my family. Thank you Hotel Metropole!
Location
Great location! In the middle of town which makes it quick and easy to get almost anywhere without needing a car or golf cart. Right next to a great little coffee shop which was super convenient in the mornings. Rooms were nice and clean.
Had an incident with pounding a screaming next door—asked the person pounding on the door to stop or go to the front desk. She said her friend was drunk inside and ignored me and kept screaming g and pounding—contacted the front desk to ask for security to come and I was told “I’m security and we don’t deal with drunk people.”
Breakfast was only fair. Items did not appear to be fresh enough. Hotel Metropole could do better with the breakfast offering.
Breakfast, see above.
Location and aesthetic
There wasn’t anyone available at the front desk on the mornin we left
I liked there was a variety to choose from location is perfect
I can't think of one thing I didn't like
