Hotel Alux Playa del Carmen

This place is such a gem we had a airbnb cancel on us last minute we ended up at Alux and was so happy we did my mom is a germaphobe and lucky for us this place was extremely clean and the building is very well kept .Location Location Location it was so good too with it being close to beaches ,5th ave grocery stores, and restaurants but just far enough away to avoid loud bars and parties. Such a great value and the staff Stephania and her husband speak Spanish and English and where so helpful with local advice and just amazing people will defiantly be back .

Great old quaint hotel perfect for the one night we needed !

Hotel Alux Playa del Carmen is cheap. That reflects the entire experience. One gets what one pays for. This hotel room was outdated, basic and quite unfunctional. There was only one sheet on the very hard bed, no comforter or blanket. The bathroom had no washcloths or bath mat. The sink in the living area did not work. The hotel staff speaks little to no English. After hours, a toilet plunger was not available, beware the hotel plumbing, it does not work properly. My first floor room had windows that did not lock, making me feel very unsafe. The shower drain did NOT drain, leaving inches of water in the bathroom. Bath amenities (shampoo, soap, etc.) were cheap and ineffective. Hotel facade is morbid. Walking in the area and seeing other, upscale hotels, made me regret my decision to stay here.

Esta muy bien el hotel, precio barato, el lugar acogedor, limpio, agua caliente, fria, tv, cama comoda, las almohadas estaban bien suavecitas, tiene clima y todo bien, esta a 2 cuadras de la 5ta avenida y aunque hay un Cerveceria Chapultepec en la esquina, se duerme muy bien, el ruido no llega, todo muy bien, bueno, bonito, barato

Mexican traditional. Plain and quaint, but adequate. A little Spanish is necessary, as staff struggle with English much like I struggle with their language. Spanish immersion. Close to downtown, Walmart, and the beach. Good value for the budget traveller.

Excellent location, in the middle of everything, yet not in a noosy area, family owned hotel, nice people, spanish style... (no refrigerator in the room)

Hotel com excelente localização, quarto limpo e fomos bem atendidos. Muito bom custo-benefício.
Hotel é simples, e por isso as vezes tinha barulho de outros hóspedes. Mas recomendo muito o hotel.

SOLO UN COMENTARIO EL AIRE ACONDICIONADO PODRÍA TENER UNA MEJOR UBICACIÓN DA DIRECTO A LA ALTURA DE LA CAMA HACIA UNO, PERO DE AHI HERMOSO LUGAR ME ENCANTO, TODO LO QUE LE ADICIONEN SOLO LO HARÍA UN LUGAR MAS EXCELENTE REALMENTE. HA PERDÓN Y EL PRECIO DE LA PROMOCIÓN ME ENCANTO MUY PADRE PARA MI QUE POR TRABAJO SOLO ME HOSPEDO UNA NOCHE AL SIGUIENTE VIAJO DE NUEVO.

Great location close to the beach and in a calm area. Staff is very friendly, always smiling and helpful. Nice building, Spanish style decor, not fancy though...great deal for the price. Strongly recommend.

It was a good comfortable room. My only issue is that they don´t accept credit cards.

I just spent 4 nights at the Alux in Playa. It is an inexpensive hotel because it is rated a 2 star and as is, cannot be higher.

Negatives*** WiFi is awful ! A weak signal ( DSL service?)**I went to Starbucks for a good signal*** you have to input a code every day for access
rock hard Mexican mattress*** no closet or drawers for clothes***no room or front desk safe for valuables*** multiple small inconveniences about the room
The experience was OK- talking with Abraham (front desk) was a good chance to use my limited Spanish. I do not know if I would return because of the bad WiFi and hard mattress. There are a few other hotels with a similar rate to try.

Muy agradable, cómodo y muy buen ubicado

Hotel Alux is in a good location just behind the Main Street.

The rooms are quite large and spacious compared to others around. It's a little run down, but for the low price, it's a pretty good hotel if you want somewhere cheap.

Wifi didn't work very well in my room, so if I wanted to use it I had to stay in the reception area.

El hotel no tiene letrero que lo identique

Recepción improvisada, poca gentileza del personal en recepción en cualquier momento del día, no cuentan con terminal para tarjeta de crédito lo cual fue un inconveniente, la habitación olía a humedad.

El hotel está muy bien. Es tranquilo. Buenas instalación, atención muy amable. Sólo las camas son algo pequeñas pero en general muy bien

I enjoyed my stay here. The room was bigger then I thought it would be and so it was cozy. The staff were friendly and nice and honest with me. Very close to cocobongo but still quiet. Good location. No complaints.
