Booked to stay 4 nights, Sept 2025. Was given a room 'upgrade' at reception. On entering the room, a strong musty, moldy smell. I tried to ignore it but within 30 minutes my chest was tight and I was repeatedly coughing. Its a pity I cannot upload pix of the AC unit in bedroom. Looks like it hadnt been cleaned in years.
I tried sleeping in a face mask, but no benefit. Couldn't take any more so got up at 5.10am and walked around the car park to get fresh air. Waited until reception opened at 7am and checked out. It was unlikely any of the other bedrooms would have been any cleaner.
Now daylight, I could see many of the areas if the hotel were closed, disused: Spa, meeting rooms, dining rooms. It's a shame and I understand: no revenue, no money to spend on maintenance, cleaning.
Overall very disappointed. Based on the reviews left by many previous customers, we were excited about the chance to stay at the Paradise. However I'm afraid we will most definitely be looking for other options should we return to Udon Thani.
Positives:
- location is central within a healthy walking distance to Central
- spacious car parking (we didn't use :-))
- breakfast was one highlights of the stay. Mixture of both local and western options, ordered off the menu. Unlimited toast (and strawberry 🍓 jam, 😋)
Negatives: (sorry for list but for full transparency, here goes)
- overall everything is dark, depressing and in urgent need of update. The pool is small and unswimmable (green with bits floating in it). The one smallish elevator seemed to have the 3rd floor button permanently lit up and needed multiple encouragement to go to requested floor
- There seemed to be fire on the second floor a year ago. Whilst the area is cordoned off inside, the aftermath of the fire is in plain site from outside. Unsure what the repair plans are but it added to the overall feeling of despair
- The room is a good size but the linen (pillow, towels etc) were stained and dirty. Fridge had stuff from previous customer and the TV didn't work. On a positive note, they quickly found us another room. Thank you
- lastly there was a leak in the washroom sink or pipes. By this time, it was late and we were tired from our experience so we sacrificed our towel to clean up after brushing teeth etc
The price was very good in my opinion. The service was fine. The location is convenient, and it is quiet.
The property itself isn’t that nice. The pool is nasty. I wasn’t there long enough to experience the amenities.
I booked based on the pool as shown in the expedia website. Arrived only to find that the pool was closed due to maintenance???? For
$20 more a night, book a much nicer hotel.
Was a convenient one night stay. Thank you .
First of all, I would not be calling this a three-star hotel. It's barely a two-star hotel at that. I first walked into the lobby and it was dark and gloomy. Then when I first made this booking it said the pool would be closed until the 31st of May. I rock up to the lobby desk and it says pool still closed for maintenance. I'm not sure why they could not update their website cuz I could have cancelled the booking before got to my room and it hadn't seemed like it'd been cleaned properly. There was no tea, coffee, shampoo, conditioner or even soap. There was an extra bottle of water left in the freezer of the fridge and I had requested a double bed and so they just pushed two singles together and left them as singles
Nice local hotel which lack maintenance, trapped in the 90s but I like it for its charms. It does have that Centara Hua Hin vibes but of a bygone era. Beside that, the staff are friendly and the food Aroy.
The room are nice and comfortable, but my standard room bathroom is small and easily flooded, the family suite are bigger and better.
It is located close to city centre, Central Plaza is just a walk away.
Recommended to stay here for a night or 2.
Old hotel pool not maintained and not clean
No water pressure for butt gun
My room had no view
The hotel is close to the city, walking distance.
But, is in a quiet area, no noise.
The restaurant is very nice, good food, friendly staff, and air conditioned.
The place to stay in Udon Thani.
Another great stay in a great hotel.
The AC compressor outside the window was too loud also the room i stay smell moldy and can see some mold in the shower
The hotel is situated in quiet and calm area of Udon.
It is minutes walk away from the city centre.
It is an oasis of calm.
The coffee shop is perfect for dinner in the evening, Noy the manager will look after your every need..
I've stayed here many times during the last years. I'm happy so see that in spite of the tough times or the hotel industry they manage to keep the hotel and the rooms in perfect condition. And still the same friendly staff. And a good breakfast to start the day.
The Internet is now working fine.
So if you're looking for a central location, this is the place to stay.
Another great stay at this hotel.
Its been 2 years.
But the standards are the same as always.
Thank you everyone.
Ver nice hotel. Good breakfast. Big rooms. Quiet.
I booked a double superior room with breakfast at the Paradise hotel for a night out in Udon Thani in December 2019.
The hotel is tucked away down a quiet side road and was roughly a 5 minute tuk tuk drive away from the mall and the main bar area. There is ample parking at the premises and first impressions were that it was a little older looking than the internet pictures but not bad. Check in was very swift and within 5 minutes we were in our room. I have to say that the room was quite stylish, better than expected for the price and with a small balcony over looking a neat pool. The reason I knocked a star off my review scoring was that unfortunately although the hotel says 'no smoking rooms' the room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. Room servicing must have noticed this and actions such as washing the curtains should have been taken. That said although we weren't impressed It didn't ruin our stay and I would book this hotel again but would inspect the room first! Other facilities at the hotel included a gym and a bar which looked very inviting with a pianist playing but we didn't get a chance to sample a drink there. The breakfast was simple and freshly cooked. I had my favourite basil chicken, fried egg and rice with coffee and it was of a good standard.
All of the staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. We paid a very good rate for the Paradise hotel and it is a good budget choice for the city!
Four of us shared a family room just for one night and we were really impressed. The hotel looks a bit old from the outside but once you step inside it’s a different scene. Our room was really large with a magnificent king bed and two king singles. The bed was among the most comfortable I have enjoyed over the years.
There was a large lounge to relax on as well as a big flat screen tv. Also tea and coffee facilities. We ordered room service for dinner and it was good quality food at a reasonable price.
The bathroom was large, with two showers and two basins as well as one toilet. Well you wouldn’t want to go to the toilet as a couple would you?
Our booking included free breakfast (no doubt added into the room price) but it was very good. A nice variety of dishes, Thai of course plus some western items. It is served near the outdoor pool in a nice relaxing environment.
We also had a free shuttle to pick us up from the airport, about 10 minutes away, and we had no trouble finding our driver, who was extremely courteous and delivered all of our luggage direct to our room. The desk staff were also very friendly and obliging.
Overall I was very pleased with our stay and honestly I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
I will certainly stay here again.
Good hotel nice room but bit far out and didnt feel safe walking back to hotel
Hotel is very nice. Staff very good. We stay only only 1 night because we passing through.Had a long travel the next day to bangkok. Unfortunally we did not get much sleep, because of the neighbours next door. They very noicy all night.... we had a room with connecting door, and the wall very thin. They party all night.its a shame this hotel allow prostitutes arrive on this hotel. We choose this hotel because its a family hotel and silent. We will never come back
Another fantastic stay in the best hotel in Udon thani, thank you everyone for a great holiday.
All the staff are wonderful, always smiling.
The pic is my work station in hotel room, how good is that for an office.
Very dissapointed. I stayed in one room in 2. floor. 14.des.2019---16.des.2019. My friend stayed in the room next to me. In both rooms, internett did not work . I complayed. Hotel restarted router, but, same problem. NEVER again on this Hotel.
