Very clean.

Room was spacious. There was dog that was barking while I was trying to nap but it was quiet at night.

This was such a little gem to stay in! I wish we could’ve stayed more than the one night but we’ll definitely be staying here the next time we visit. I loved the bed and breakfast feel mixed with the old school hotel vibes. My boyfriend and I played a game of pool together, and then played a couple of games with one of the guests. I love the included drinks and snacks that were available, the muffins were delicious! I also loved the “real keys”, it was a nice touch. Some people may not care for the lack of cable tv, it didn’t bother me whatsoever but some old school people might not be as keen. Other than that, I don’t see any reason why anyone would have an issue staying here. It was a breeze checking in and checking out. Again, I loved this place and will definitely be back!

Nice unique rooms and facility, 24 hr snacks/breakfast and drinks. Super nice manager which gave a quick tour and explanation of room and facility. All good and would definitely stay again. Only critic in general not specific to this property is that Timmins though just seems higher priced for accommodations than surrounding areas for some reason (almost Toronto room prices all over the city) - more business stays driving them up?

This is an old building in a downtown location. The area is not that great - quite warn down as is the outside of this building.

The inside of the inn is old fashion decor and the breakfast is very limited. The air conditioner was very loud and right next to the bed which did not make for a quiet sleep. The mini fridge motor was also very loud.

I would rate this as a 2 or 3 star hotel and if you can get a low rate it would be ok. We went in the high season and the rate for value was not good.

There was no restaurant or gym as the listing advertised!! It is a very small hotel, Breakfast provided had no protein or fresh food options like eggs, fruits or vegetables. Only bread, cereal, instant oatmeal, yogurt, milk.

The place was quite,clean and comfortable. The host really did a great job.

Great location. Very comfortable room. Wonderful social are with seating and pool table. Quaint, quiet and definitely will be a return spot!

Feels like home

Amazing place...will be back for sure. Easy check-in. Friendly host, great rooms and lots to do as they have a pool table, books, puzzles, games and more!

I paid to reserve a queen bed and instead got 2 double beds.

There was also a bug in my room. This service is unlike what I normally receive at the Balsam.

Great stay.

Our room was large and comfortable. Beds were comfy and living room was lovely, even a fireplace for ambiance.

Complimentary snacks were a nice touch.

The great room had all kinds of options, books games fireplace and even a pool table.

We would most definitely stay here again.

It seems some parts were under construction (?), including the dining area (?) and the gym, which was not available (although this was not clear when booking). We were greeted by a large barking dog. The area of downtown is convenient but nothing special. Clean rooms were nice. The all-day breakfast is just bread/toast, muffins, and juice/coffee (Keurig). The bed wasn't great. It's definitely a fine place to stay in Timmins, but not a 9.8/10 — that rating seems sorely out of whack with reality.

Parking is not secure.
