My wife and I spent he first 3 nights of our two week Grenadine vacation here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating from the time we started planning our trip in January. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary cocktail at the upstairs bar. The entire property is in need of a makeover, but this did not have any negative impact on our stay. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel-don't come here. If you want to chill out at the water and be within a five minute walk to several eating & drinking establishments, this is the place for you. Located directly across from Young Island Resort; they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner; happy hour with live music on Sunday. A beachfront king room for less than $200 USD/night leaves no room for complaining or bad reviews-you're in St. Vincent; life is good.
We had a great experience at Sunset Shores Beach Hotel! The rooms were updated and clean, the property was beautiful with direct access to the beach, and the services was outstanding. We would absolutely recommend staying here.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, literally right by the beach, which was without doubt the highlight of our stay. The property itself is a bit dated and would benefit from some renovation and refreshing. The room was clean and well maintained, the hotel just overall shows its age, and some updates would make a big difference.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the staff - especially the hotel manager. During our stay, my friend lost her phone on a local bus. The manager took it upon herself to track it down by calling people around the phone’s identified location, and then personally drove us to retrieve it. Also other hotel staff helped and checked in on us all throughout. This went far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect and was an incredible demonstration of dedication, care, and customer service. It was also a real insight into how things work on a small island: people helping people, taking responsibility, and making things happen. For that alone, this stay will stay with us for a long time.
I stayed at Sunset Shores recently, and the experience was far from what was advertised. The hotel lists a shuttle service, but in reality it’s a “you pay all fees” transport. This felt deceptive, and I ended up paying full taxi rates just to reach the property — an unnecessary expense that accurate information would have prevented.
The room did have comfortable beds, which was one of the few positives. Unfortunately, the mosquito situation was bad, and it made the room uncomfortable despite the decent bedding.
The biggest issue, though, was the noise. The hotel hosted a wedding during my stay. Although the official event ended around 10 p.m., the party simply moved next door and continued until about 4 a.m. The music was so loud that the windows were shaking. Getting any rest was impossible, completely defeating the purpose of booking a quiet place to stay.
Had I known the shuttle wasn’t actually included, I would have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express right outside the airport, which does provide a real shuttle service. After paying taxi fees, additional charges, and losing extra time getting to Sunset Shores, I would have saved money, time, and gotten better rest by staying there instead.
The location is good, but that’s the only consistent strength. Between the misleading shuttle claim, the extreme noise, and the mosquito problem, I didn’t receive the value or comfort I paid for. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
I stayed her twice, for 1 night each, as the plane and ferry schedules to get me from Grenada to Bequia via St Vincent required an overnight stay each way. The staff are very friendly and the hotel, whilst needing a little updating, is in good condition. Nice breakfast, lolvely view from the dining area towards Young Island.
We stayed for one night before we flew home. I would not recommend longer. The restaurant was pretty good and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff member was not welcoming and did not inform us that breakfast was included. The beach area was very small had a lot of litter. The pool area was ok.
Pool area was peaceful, Tranquility
I enjoyed the easy access to the beach before and after work
Great
Willing, pleasant staff but management needs to make a serious investment in training and communication with guests. Hotel managers in the Caribbean need to be more visible and accessible.
Great location, great food, great staff, beautiful island.
My kids loved the pool!! I loved the beach which was steps away from the pool! Food there was made to order and was always amazing!
This property is my go to every time! I’m never disappointed!
Easy check in and check out process. Room was ready on fime facility is clean with a lovely view of the ocean. Staff was friendly and very accommodated. Room was clean spacious and comfy . I'd definitely recommend and will be back.
We booked and are staying in the best room of this hotel, but we are very disappointed with the WiFi. The connection is extremely poor, especially considering the price we paid for the beachfront room. Our first impression was not good at all, as there are plenty of tables and chairs blocking our sea view. Most importantly, the WiFi is unacceptable, as we really need a stable connection. Although the room is nice and clean, basic facilities like WiFi should be resolved easily. In addition, the pool is quite dirty, and we didn’t dare to use it. On a positive note, we dined at the hotel outlet every day, and the food was good. However, overall, it is not worth the price we paid
Did not like the bed. The mattress were to soft and sunked in. My back ached the whole time.during my stay.
Hot water pressur was very low. Cold water most of the time.
I address the matter to the staff incharge. M was yold that all of yhe mattresses were the same, and some people like the sofness.
Cool place to catch a few zzzzz
Overall everything went well,
I typically do not write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience. While the bedroom area and linens were clean, several issues made my stay less than satisfactory.
The bedroom had a sliding door that did not have enough panels to cover the entire opening, which allowed light to enter and left noticeable gaps. Since I was on the ground floor in front of the pool I had to maneuver the curtain panels so that I wasn't seen from the outside but that left about a gap in the corner that was not covered. I also discovered that the screen door had been left open after housekeeping, and I unknowingly slept with it open on my last night.
The main door to the room was ill-fitted, allowing light to come in and I could see outside through the gaps. There was a chain, but no bolt to attach it to, no dead bolt, just a standard bedroom door lock. In the bathroom, there was a hole under the sink that also let in light from outside, and the grip treads in the bathtub were dirty.
After my first shower, I was unable to turn off the water. The only way to shut it off was to use a towel for grip and brace my foot against the wall. I requested a new room but was told that was not possible. When I asked to check out a night early, I was informed I would still be charged for the additional night due to their cancellation policy.
The food was not good, though the staff was polite and tried to help where they could.
We had three days on "the mainland" ahead of boarding a week-long sailing trip and booked a room at the Sunset Shores since it was next door to the dive shop we were using. The bad news for us was they had to close the pool to resurface it while we were there, but before we could even say "oh that's too bad" the gentleman at the front desk offered to comp us with breakfast each morning. Done! The entire hotel staff was friendly, engaging, and helpful. We did walk down the waterfront to a restaurant one evening, but other than that we stuck to the hotel bar and restaurant for food and drink. The service is very laid back--they're definitely on island time--but that's not a dig. If you want American-style, rapid service, then go somewhere else. If you want to enjoy kicking back, relaxing, and getting a chance to chat with the staff about the island and the Grenadines, then it's the place for you. And the food is good, too. The room was comfortable and clean, and we slept great. The one thing I completely screwed up is forgetting my British-style travel adapters, but that's on me. The room did have a single USB-A charging port built in to the TV receiver, so that bailed us out. We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay with them.
