Grand DarulMakmur Hotel Kuantan

Just checked in at this hotel in Kuantan for a work trip. Knew from the start that it'd be a twin-sharing room, but upon arrival, I was given a room with a queen bed and a single instead (See picture). The setup was entirely off.

To make matters worse, the phone in the room wasn't functioning, forcing me to go down from the 6th floor to speak with reception. When I explained the situation and showed them the picture, the front desk informed me that no twin-sharing rooms were available and that there was nothing much they could do about the inconvenience. They also notified me that their sales team knew about this arrangement (and I could only presume that what they were telling me indirectly was that the organiser was fine with it).

I found the reception staff's lack of accountability and absence of an apology particularly frustrating. Shifting the issue to their other department, in this case, their sales team, when a customer is right in front of them, is a no-go, too.

For business travellers expecting good service from a hotel, this isn't for you.

Good hotel

We booked the room upon arriving in Kuantan. The building's exterior, along with the dated mall beside to it, didn't make it our first choice for a hotel.

Additionally, the place seemed to have a strong religious tone, which reminded me of a past news of a religious institution raided a hotel, asking elderly couples for proof of marriage.

Despite our reservations, we decided to give it a try since our preferred hotel was fully booked. To our surprise, the stay turned out to be pleasant, especially due to the friendly staff.

The room we stayed in was somewhat old, but we noticed that some painting and renovation work was underway

fallen hair anywhere, no shampoo, old towels, left cigarette box on balcony, no tissue box.

The bed is comfortable and the room is spacious.

The staff was excellent and pleasant. They were very welcoming and accommodating. The family room that we booked was spacious and clean with comfortable double beds. We were able to have a relaxing breakfast.

My original room had problems connecting to the hotel's wifi. They offered to change my room and the staff was very helpful. Can't fault the staff.

1) HOTEL ROOM: The room is spacious but old. There is a lot of Ants in the room eventhough there is no food on the table.

2) Restaurant in the hotel: The Mug has significant stain on the rim. This is not acceptable.

3) Concierge SERVICE:
- Lobby: 4/5
- Restaurant: 2/5

Alas, hotel is a rather aged, and there was notice that refurbuishment was in progress.
Floor i was on was very deserted and actually was not a very comfortable feeling. As it was only for a single night, I did not bother to ask for a chnage.

The Chinese Restaurant food is exceptional, big portion, value for money. My compliments to the Chef Steven , he is so creative and work hard to cook Vegetarian dishes for us.
He never turn down our request and he so thoughtful by introducing new dishes to us.
Thank you for the front lines staff Mdm Lai Kuan too for introduce the dishes to us.
Definitely will come back again. Thank you

Location - excellent. Right in the middle of Kuantan town next to the big malls.
Parking was easy as they have an open air parking in front of the lobby.
Checking in and out was easy too.
Rooms - very big sized and the bed was comfortable. The rooms look a bit tired and dated though and could do with a refurbish.
Showers were working fine and they even have a bath tub. Wifi was working ok and aircond was working fine too.
Very quiet so sleeping quality was good.

The hotel is centrally located and is large. The rooms are very large. The breakfast is expensive and not very good quality. The car parking is in open air car park outside. The room is quite expensive

Location hotel in heart of the city centre,nice room with good view,excellent staff service. Facilities is good with the serounding shop easy to get item u needed and wonderful stay in hotel grand darul makmur Kuantan Pahang…………………………..

Great hospitality.Close to the city center.The bed was comfy and the pillows were huge in size with clean bed sheets provided.The best pool ever,my daughter
really love the mushroom.Great idea for the kids. Definitely will come back again.

Excellent stay. Good hotel entrance. Fantastic pool. Spotless and spacious room, and clean bathroom. Beautiful and beyond restaurants. Politeness is everywhere.

Less than 10 minutes to nearby convenience stores, malls, delicious seafood restaurants, tourists spot like Kuantan river, and Teruntum Tower. Not to mention, hospitals if you face an emergency.
