The room was so cold, heating just blew cool air even when a staff member tried still blew cold. Hotel could be beautiful but needs sympathetic updating..
Room was lovely and spacious, however it didnt have a mirror or a view which was a shame as the hotels grounds are nice.
The lift needs sorting, as it made me anxious everytime getting in it with its noises a slow movement. It said it could fit 7, however a sign was next to the lift saying no mors than 2 people.
Stay were polite. The reception could be nicer as this is the first area people see. Breakfast was okay, it could have had more choice. Also the drive in to the hotel could just be nicer. I would stay again.
Very good staff in this hotel. It is still being renovated and some areas need rapid improvement. No hot water on one morning but these things can happen. It was resolved. Overall a good hotel with its main asset being the very friendly and helpful staff.
Ground floor room (41).
Robes and one bath towel just thrown on bed - were they clean?
No hot water
Room close to kitchen; loud talking by staff and banging of pots until 23:30
No kettle
We had one night and it was the best sleep we have had for a long time, staff very polite, the driveway to the abbey must of been about 1/4 of a mile long, bedroom had a view across the field's and court yard, will definitely stay again
This property has the potential to be amazing, however, despite the staffs best efforts this was a disappointing stay.
The lift in the hotel makes a horrific noise and can be heard clearly in the rooms anywhere near the lift.
We were also woken up each day of our stay (between 7 and 9am) by the fire alarms.
All in all, what should have been a lovely stay was quite disappointing.
Amazing property set in tranquil woodlands.
Room was lovely with high ceilings and superb decorated. Some attention to details are much needed though: no remote control, kettle wasn't working, soap dispenser empty.
A shame that the bar didn’t have any beer on draft. The food I had was good and the room was lovely as was the hotel in general. I couldn’t find anyone in reception (or anywhere else) on the morning I checked out so I just left the key on a desk in reception as they didn’t seem to have a key drop box.
This is not a 4 star hotel as advertised. The facilities just aren’t present as you would expect and it feels like it is struggling to be a coherent place. Needs massive investment and a proper interior decorator who can choose furniture. We loved the quirkiness and the price but it would be safer to say 3 star. HOWEVER All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The sheets felt super clean and lovely. The room was clean and warm and presentable. The parkland in which it is set is equally quirky with beautiful mature trees. Conveniently positioned for a play at Stratford.
Beautiful country retreat
The property was unique and the staff very accommodating
A beautiful hotel & setting
Unfortunately in today’s climate of high costs of materials there are areas which require some repair & maintenance this does not however spoil the overall experience as staff are welcoming & helpful.
Lovely statley home,quite magnificent
Hotel knew aircon was broken in my room and knew they were fully booked for two days before my stay. Didn’t say anything.
Let me check in and pay on arrival and still didn’t say anything. Went to my room to find it was 35 ° in there so went down to complain. Hotel said there was nothing they could do.
Asked to speak to the manager and after some back and forth was told I can stay the night but get a full refund. It was one of the worst nights sleep in my life.
Then when I chased them for the refund they have gone completely silent. Absolutely awful customer service. Room was actually okay if it wasn’t for the aircon issue but I’m absolutely furious about their inability to stand behind their refund offer after disingenuously letting me pay and check in without pre warning about the a/c. Such poor form.
Lovely hotel, full of history. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was light and airy with a big bathroom. Will definitely stay again in the future!
Hotel is in need of some TLC. Cleaning of ceilings, light fittings etc to get rid of cobwebs. The grounds looked like they hadn’t been tended too in about 2-3 weeks. Bar expensive but didn’t mine that. Restaurant prices very expensive for mid range food. Comfy bed massive rooms decent shower. But unfortunately left disappointed with the overall visit.
Very nice staff that are very attentive before and during team stay and nice area to take photos. Close to Hatton and Warwick.
Online, the property looks fantastic. As you drive towards the hotel the outside is stunning, but as you get inside, you can see it’s in desperate need of repair.
I arrived Friday evening, and when I went to check-in, I was given my key and went to my room. The AC wasn’t working, and after trying to fix it I called reception and asked for someone to come and look at it, as it was truly too hot with no window available to open. An hour later, no one had come after being told “5 minutes”. I went to reception to speak to the manager, who turned up 10 minutes later and promised to come look at the issue. After 20 minutes waiting, i was given a new room instead. It was clean, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities, so I cannot complain.
The building itself and the grounds are just so run down and in desperate need of repair and upkeep. I went for a walk and found a pile of fire extinguishers, an abandoned gazebo and long-forgotten tennis courts.
I didn’t eat at the hotel, and glad I hadn’t. The prices were quite high, the food that I did see didn’t look particularly appetising, and there was one vegetarian option, nothing vegan.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until it has had some upgrades; it was truly like stepping back in time, but not in the good way…
The restaurant service wasn’t great. Was told the lie was chicken several times. Ordered the bbq pulled pork burger….which it wasn’t then re ordered the pie for it to be steak! (Was actually better than if it had been chicken) was all a bit of a disaster but the lady who served me was lovely and apologetic and gave me a free pudding.
Had a very hot uncomfortable nights sleep. Although there is air con I had it set to the coldest bit I don’t think it was working so a very uncomfortable and hot night.
Beautiful hotel but let down in these 2 areas. I didn’t get much sleep
We stayed for 2 nights, we had a lovely stay, room was clean but quite small. Breakfast was very nice, a good selection of hot and cold items.
Only complaint would be the lunch we had, we had a BLT, the bread was very disappointing (your cheap white sliced bread) for the cost I would have expected a nice bakery loaf.
