One of our favorite places to stay in St Paul. Extremely friendly, amazing service and love the atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful and beds super comfortable. We have never been disappointed with our experience.
Excellent location. The staff were very welcoming and it's a charming and historical hotel. It brings a unique vibe and history you can really appreciate if that's your style. I will happily return as we were treated very well. This isn't our typical type of hotel but I loved it and we were made to feel special.
Best hotel experience in memory. Excellence all around , from service, to staff welcome, to lobby warmth, to the room itself. (Including the espresso at the lobby bar in the morning). Highly recommended
This is a gorgeous hotel! We loved our short stay. There was a welcome amenity and a well stocked mini bar.
Gorgeous space!
This is a lovely hotel. Staff is great throughout. The food at the Drake and the St Paul Grill was wonderful. We will definitely return.
We had a great experience for a trip to the Minnesota Wild game. Super cool that we didn't have to go in to the cold using the skyways and tunnels..
Very Nice hotel with wonderful location.
We spent a couple nights at the St Paul hotel just as the Winter Carnival was starting. Bad planning on our part with -20+ F temperatures outside, nearly everything was cancelled. But, it was warm and toasty inside. The hotel was a buzz of activity. So many places to cozy up and relax or have spirited fun. Our room was amazing, just what we expected. Clean, roomy and plenty of amenities, and honestly, with so many guests having fun, we hardly heard a peep. I would highly recommend.
Every visit to the St Paul Hotel makes it feel like you are special and valued. Love, love the return to elegance and great customer service!
Person at front desk was curt when we asked if we could have room facing park
Rooms are dated. Bathrobe felt like cardboard
When we drove up to the St Paul Hotel, we were greeted by a professional doorman who opened my wife’s door, unpacked our bags from our car, and offered their valet parking service. Another doorman carted our bags and opened the door to a spacious, beautifully decorated lobby. We were cheerfully greeted by check-in staff who happily checked us in a bit early, without shaming us for trying to check in early or telling us that early check-in would incur an additional charge.
Our 10th floor room was clean and spacious, with an amazing view of the Rice Park, Landmark Center, Ordway and the St Paul Basilica in the distance. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the classic St Paul Grill bar, wine from the Lobby Bar (which we enjoyed in comfy chairs next to the fireplace) and breakfast at the Drake. And we were able to walk a block to see a show at the fantastic Ordway.
We got married on January 10th. We had a fabulous experience, from the dinner at the Grill the evening before to the hospitality of staff during the day of. The expert planning of Selin Miller and staff was appreciated more than I can say. The whole wedding experience, from the ceremony to the reception, dinner and dance was beyond our expectations. And my husband said Sunday morning we had the best breakfast he'd ever had in his life. Thank you, Saint Paul Hotel! It was a once in a lifetime experience.
This hotel is highly overrated and honestly, I'm surprised they get any good reviews any more. I prefer historic hotels and stay in them often. I have stayed at The St. Paul quite a few times over the past 30+ years and it was always warm and friendly. However, I never will stay again. We just completed a two night stay there in a premium suite. The room itself was dingy and very poorly lit. The drain in the tub was so slow that you had to stand in water during your shower. The bathroom wasn't clean. The furniture was literally so dusty that my black pants had visible white dust on them. The whole room smelled dirty and musty. There was also not a single time during our stay that anyone at the reception desk greeted us, or acknowledged us in any way. The check-in person was curt and dismissive, and the checkout person didn't inquire about our stay, look directly at us, or really say anything to us aside from the bare minimum. There are a myriad of clean, beautiful, and welcoming hotels in the Twin Cities, but this is no longer one of them.
We chose this hotel as a special place to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The hotel was festive and vibrant, the room was lovely and service was perfect. Our room was on the 7th floor overlooking Rice Park. We had drinks & appetizers at the bar and then dinner later in the restaurant. Very happy with our stay.
We had a wonderful stay at The St. Paul Hotel. The setting is beautiful! We had a great view of Rice Park and the Christmas lights there from our room which we requested when booking. We dined at The St. Paul Grille and had an incredibly kind server and wait staff. The room service staff and valets were quick and helpful. We truly had a luxurious stay and would recommend this hotel to all of our friends and family.
Great historical hotel and Great Service. Thanks for the nice visit. Was in St. Paul to see friends and family for Christmas and to take in some entertainment. The hotel is 👌.
Our experience at the St. Paul Hotel was wonderful, however...
This hotel is awesome! It's old yes, but rooms were very clean, staff was friendly - especially valet services. The show we saw (It's a Wonderful Life) was wonderful! Almost every experience we had was top notch. The only "bad" experiences we had were the prices of various things: the worst was the bar prices in the lobby (and probably in the main bar, too). You are given this small menu to order drinks and some small food items from. There were 3 drinks featured on the front page, along with prices ($11 - $14). We drank some of these and the drinks were wonderful and at a good price. The ladies in our group each asked for a glass of red wine. Our server brought pinot noir and it was delicious. However... there was no price in the menu and when we received the bill - we found that EACH GLASS cost $24! Our bill for 2 of us cost more than our stay in the hotel for the night. Shame on us for not asking the price of a glass of red wine. Buyer beware!!
This is a historic, charming albeit outdated hotel in the heart of St. Paul. I was having a relatively good experience except tonight I called the front desk because we had been here three days and yet the hotel had not once replenished our room bottles, and I politely asked them to bring up two bottles of water. The hotel desk said they'd bring it up. At no point did the lady I spoke to allude to the cost of the bottles: I assumed they were complimentary given the omission but was nevertheless ready to pay a reasonable price. When the water arrived, the charge was $30. I kid you not, $30 for two 20oz bottles of water that each costs less than $3. I was and remain flabbergasted, except to top things off, I called the front desk and politely told them I had not opened the water and instead did not want to be charged for the bottles, though I kindly offered to pay for the room service charge and tax ($3). The lady at the front desk snarkily and abruptly said "ok", before proceeding to hang up on me. The charge was still there when I checked out. It is a shame that this hotel gouges and treats its guests this way.
The Christmas ambiance made our stay magical! Great atmosphere and clean hotel. Great staff and valet service was wonderful!
Had some Expedia credits to burn so we decided to take a local break at a wonderful Hotel 🏨……but it was a little cold the day we picked 🥶🥶👀
Always love staying at this historic hotel. Very comfortable with amazing staff and food! Highly recommend this excellent hotel.
