How quiet and dark the room was to sleep!
Coffee pod machine in room was broken

Extremely comfortable bed
Had to pay extra $20 for parking.
Booked a spa suite as these rooms are described as having city views. We did NOT have a city view. We had a view of the adjacent tower block and were surrounded on all sides with views onto other peoples rooms and balconies (horrible). When we asked about this we were told that 'most but not all spa suites have a city view'. Don't believe the description of the rooms as they are not accurate.

So quiet being so close to city!
My sister & I stayed in a twin room - we were more than happy with the hotel. Friendly staff. Big, clean room with very comfy beds. Happy hour in the bar (what more could you ask for). Great location - easy walking distance to Canberra Centre and Braddon shops and restaurants.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as a celebration with friends. We have stayed at 3 other hotels in Canberra over the past 40 years.
Firstly, the only good point about this hotel is its location (surrounded by other hotels and restaurants)
There were numerous negatives which soured our stay here.
Everything from holes/thread bear towels, no bath gel/wash or shampoo for 2 days( after requesting twice in person). Ringing three times over 45 minutes to request an ice bucket (only to be told they had runout at 4.30 pm).Dirty and stained lounge chairs. The light switch in the bathroom was loose inside the wall (exposed wires).
All these things we were just going to put down to the hotel just being a basic business hotel. Until we were settleling our bill with the hotel. They wanted to charge $80 for parking even though we had printed/verbal and on our iphone that parking was included. The gentlmen at the desk was quite rude and left twice to "speak" to other staff members. We waited for a long time. I have contacted our Commonwealth bank fraud department to be aware of the unauthorised charge to our card. Sent an email to Kevin Thoresen- General manager of the hotel.
The gentlemen at the front desk said "they will make everthing right for our next stay". We will definitely not be staying at this hotel again.
P.S. i Should have been weary of the many single contributions -ratings of the hotel.

Second time staying at Avenue Hotel with both experiences excellent. Access to hotel was easy with parking availability on site, rooms roomy, clean and had all amenities. Central location is convenient as well as well as having the Marble and Grain restaurant and bar where we had great cocktails and breakfast. Staff were always accommodating and friendly. We will definitely stay again.
