The view that’s about it
The front desk lady at night wasn’t friendly at all. Too expensive. Not worth the price. We travel to Duluth so much and this was the only place available. We usually stay at pier B .
Fantastic 5 nights in Duluth at South Pier Inn! We stayed in the corner king suite and were blown away by the view of the bridge, canal and harbor right outside our windows! Room was super clean and spacious with comfortable furniture and bed. Spa tub was great. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Highly recommend staying at South Pier Inn.
Location was prime as I was in town to watch ship traffic and get some good food. Lexi at the front desk was such a sweet girl and wonderful to chat with. If I come across another deal to stay here, I will.
We have stayed at South Pier Inn several times and have loved it. The location is great and we enjoy having a harbor view room on the second floor. We watched a couple ore boats come in on a foggy morning. The staff are great and the continental breakfast items are good. The cookies are also a nice addition. The room is clean, bed very comfortable, the fireplace fun on a cool day and the balcony is a great spot for morning coffee. We have already booked our next stay. South Pier Inn is the place we always pick on our trips to Duluth.
This is such a lovely, clean and safe space to stay. It is so fun to be near the bridge and the ships as they come and go. The people at the front desk are kind and supportive and offer their help throughout your stay. Before I left, I booked another stay a few months later because I loved it here so much.
Everything was great I really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and fire place
The handle on the jacuzzi leaked water down the tub.
The property is in the heart of Duluth, so very convenient. Awesome location next to the lift bridge.
Smaller rooms but still very nice.
This hotel is always my go-to place to sleep in Duluth. Super-clean rooms, friendly staff, flying a Finnish Flag below the USA flag (Friendly Finns just like in Michigan's U.P.) and easy walking distance ("just over the lift bridge") from multiple Duluth Pier shops & restaurants, which is useful because parking at Pier businesses can be problematic while entertaining customers. The hotel's 'continental style' breakfast is carb-heavy basic (they do not serve anything like scrambled eggs or hot breakfast sandwiches), but the Johnson's Bakery cranberry-wild-rice bread is excellent for a slice of toast.
The breakfast was great. Enough to start your day
Change of weather forecast. Freezing.
This smaller hotel is located right across the aerial lift bridge and is a convenient place to stay if you want to walk to delicious food, fun venues, or the beach.
The room was bright, appropriately warm, and spotless! We really enjoyed seeing the views from the jet tub in our room. The bed was comfortable, the instructions about how to get the tv going were clear, and the price was more than fair.
This hotel has very friendly staff, awesome views of the ships, and the sheets on the beds are incredible! This is our favorite hotel in Duluth! We enjoy our stay each time!
I stayed at the South Pier Inn with my wife. It was such a great experience. The check in was fast and friendly.
The room was clean and the view of the famous Lift Bridge could not be beat. A highlight for us was how comfortable the furniture is. Two recliners and a very comfortable couch. This was our only stay & we stayed in a suite, so I'm not sure if all the rooms have the same furniture. I think each room features a spacious hot tub, with comfy robes provided to throw on after a soak in the hot tub.
Hotel breakfast bars are often the same, so I look for the the feature that could make the breakfast a little different. This breakfast bar had 2 stand outs, the Greek Yogurt & all the fixings to make a parfait & the cranberry wild rice bread for toasting.
Everything in Canal Park is extremely walkable from the hotel.
We will definitely stay here again, we cannot wait to return.
This is a perfect place to stay in Duluth, just across the Lift Bridge and ship canal. Our room had a perfect bridge view, with a mural of the bridge over the jacuzzi tub. The room was clean, comfy and cozy - perfect for a snowy getaway. Breakfast was good, with local breads and pastries plus other items. Every room includes binoculars for ship watching, and you can request a call to alert you if a ship is arriving at night. They also offer local beverages for purchase. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, making for a perfect stay at this family owned little hotel.
This was our first trip to the South Pier Inn - and we loved it! We had a beautiful view of the harbor, the towels are fluffy, the bed is comfortable and we had a lovely chat with the owners. It was a cold weekend in Duluth and we were so glad to have a fireplace to make our room cozy. We are looking forward to staying again.
Fabulous time. Staff and location can't be beat. Third time there
Great location with comfy rooms and beds. Friendly caring staff. They were very accommodating when I decided to leave a day early because of winter storm watches and warnings for Duluth and also along my route home. Love to sit on the balcony which all rooms have. Great place to watch boats in season.
It had everything we needed and more. The minor details that other places don’t have made everything 1000 times better.
View/location - right out at the bridge! Unfortunately there were no ships coming through. The room was wonderful - spacious but compact. The proximity to the touristy areas was great!
