A Wonderful Stay with Just One Small Area for Improvement
Pros:

We had a fantastic stay at the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious escape in Venice.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional. Check-in was warm, attentive and professional, making us feel genuinely welcome. We stayed in a beautiful Junior Suite, which was spacious, stylish and immaculately presented.

We did have one minor maintenance issue with the bath, which wasn’t running properly. However, the team responded quickly and had it resolved within a few hours. We were really impressed with how efficiently it was handled.

The attention to detail across the hotel was evident, and the food was consistently excellent. Yes, it’s an expensive hotel, but in our opinion, it’s worth paying for the overall experience, service and surroundings. Do get a cocktail from the lobby bar - they are fabulous!

The only aspect that let the hotel down slightly was the rooftop infinity pool. While the views are stunning, the pool itself appeared not to have had a thorough clean for quite some time. The infinity edge wasn’t operating and looked as though it hadn’t been working for a while, with visible lines of algae in places. There was also no dedicated poolside service, which we’d expected at a hotel of this standard, although staff did bring drinks to the sun loungers.

Those points aside, this is a truly excellent resort with outstanding staff, beautiful accommodation and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. We’d definitely return and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.

Very enjoyable stay
Pros:

Grand entrance
The AC worked very well
Staff was very helpful
Boat ride to and from San Marco worked very well
Good breakfast buffet with fresh juices

Cons:

Everything comes at an extra charge - pancakes for our children for breakfast (a first for us after many many different hotel stays) / kids club etc.
Pool a tad small for so many families, with limited sheltered spots.

Disappointed
Pros:

We have been in the pool and we have to wait along time for everything. The service is streamed slow! The experience had been really bad!. The hotel is expensive! We don’t get the value for price that we paid. I don’t recommend this hotel and don’t think this hotel represents the brand and the level you market.

Pros:

It’s a nice location to be a bit away from the crowds. Nice kids area with the pool and sports courts

Cons:

The shuttles could have gone more often. If u didn’t get a spot on a time slot u had to wait for 30 min until next boat and taxis where 110 euros to get in to Venice. Again some staff could have been more helpful and better at English

Beware of weddings when booking ... unless it's yours!
Pros:

We chose the Marriott Isola delle Rosa because we wanted a quiet hotel away from the crowds in Venice. So, you can imagine our shock when we discovered that there was a huge 4-day wedding going on in the hotel at the same time. Yikes!

Strangely, the hotel staff didn't seem to know much about the wedding. It was as if the hotel had just given the wedding planner the keys to the island. "It's all yours now." For example, we wanted to have a quiet dinner away from the wedding disco music and the staff at the pizza restaurant recommended the 4th floor because they thought there was a wedding event near their restaurant. Wrong! We tried to make reservations for dinner on the fourth floor but the entire floor was reserved for the wedding. Why wasn't this communicated to non-wedding guests ... and all hotel staff?

In the end, we gave up eating dinner at the hotel and took the boat back into Venice. It was easier than trying to figure out what was happening in the hotel and which restaurants would or wouldn't be affected by noise and music.

The hotel managers we spoke to expressing our concerns and displeasure at not being told about the wedding when we made our reservation (of course they knew) were all very apologetic and completely understood our situation. By the way, even the wedding guests felt sorry for the other hotel guests. Yes, the hotel manager upgraded our room (they had to because our chosen room was taken by the wedding party) and we received some mementos of our stay but these efforts did not make up for the major inconvenience and disappointment. All complaints (I suspect we were not the only ones) could have been avoided by communicating with the regular guests before their arrival. "There will be a noisy 4-day wedding at the hotel during your stay. Here are some options you may want to consider ..."

Enough about the wedding. The Marriott is on a (usually) peaceful island and there is a free shuttle boat into Venice every 30 minutes. Very convenient. There are 2 swimming pools and a gym in the hotel. Both pools are outdoors, one in the garden, and one on the 4th floor. The 4th floor pool is next to the bar and is best described as a 'cocktail pool'. Guests can lounge in, or by, the shallow pool with a cold drink. By contrast, the deeper garden pool is the best pool for swimming laps. The gym looks big but, surprisingly, it doesn't take many people for it to feel crowded. There are enough machines and weights for a good workout.

Although we gave up on the hotel restaurants we had breakfast there every day. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the staff were super-friendly. I think they also felt sorry for the regular guests and perhaps they were making an extra effort to be nice. If so, it was much appreciated. Thank you.

Overall, we can recommend the Marriott Isola delle Rosa but please check for weddings when you make your reservation. Will the hotel tell the truth? On the other hand, if you have several million dollars to spend on a wedding and are looking for an island in Venice to 'take over' the Marriott is your place ... "here are the keys."

A pleasant island across the lagoon
Pros:

We stayed here for two nights over the weekend in a junior suite. We arranged a private water taxi from the airport to the hotel which was a fabulous way to arrive. The driver loved his speed and slowed only as we entered the gateway, very "James Bond"! Loved it.

Overview - the resort has beautiful gardens and the small island is lovely to walk around. We enjoyed the peace after exploring Venice and environs. Transfers are easy and run late. Senior staff are delightful and helpful. Service from some in the restaurant area needs improving : delays, forgotten items, incorrect orders are not commensurate with a hotel of this rating.
We were pleased with our stay here. I'd forgotten how much I love Venezia.

Details below.
Federika checked us in and she was extremely pleasant and efficient, very helpful.

Our suite was excellent, modern, clean and very comfortable. A complimentary bottle of prosecco and water were waiting for us. The suite is spacious with all you need for a comfortable stay. Also there was a large balcony with comfortable seating. The separate dressing area is useful. Decent padded hangers, hairdryer etc .
The corridors accessing the rooms are ugly but I'm unsure how they can really change this.

The adult only infinity pool is lovely with views across to San Marco. It did smell of chlorine though. However the chemicals are low enough not to cause my allergic reaction. Towels are provided at the pool. The family pool was quiet when we went. The water is so warm, perfect for me. The pool attendant here was very helpful and friendly.

The rooftop restaurant itself is well set out and the bar area has a good ambience. The menu though! In my opinion it wasn't exciting and was unimaginative. We didn't eat here. We love Italian food and this restaurant doesn't represent what Italian cuisine can offer. If you want burgers, fries, BLT etc then you will be happy. This was a little disappointing however it didn't detract from our stay obviously.

Breakfast. There is a great range of choice, fruit is ripe and tasty. I particularly loved the anchovies, mackerel and salmon. Espresso is good. Service was a bit hit and miss, coffee didn't turn up, wrong omelette order, that sort of thing.

The Island is small and easy to explore. The shuttle to San Marco runs every half hour and is reliable. The public areas of the hotel are stylish and eye catching. The corridors giving access to the rooms are very soulless and are like any major corporate hotel anywhere in the world. They seem out of context with the rest of the hotel.
The gardens/lagoon come to life at night and the sounds of local nature are lovely and calming to listen to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Venetian Bliss on A Private Island
Pros:

As if Venice wasn’t magical enough on its own, this JW Marriott property was a dream stay. Despite the blistering heatwave of late June, our entire experience could not have been any cooler. From the pick up and water taxi to the private island and grounds, to the innovative cocktail menu and outstanding dinner at sunset at the rooftop restaurant, everything was exceeded our expectations. Our room felt palatial and we were treated like royalty from check in to check out (we had a 9:25 train, but they easily arranged a private transfer right to the station).

The only very trivial thing that didn’t quite go well was having to wait a few extra minutes during check-in since their entire computer system crashed, but they went above and beyond to apologize and it was incredibly kind and thoughtful.

Overall, it was by far the nicest place we stayed during our 2 week trip to Italy and we yearn to return one day…
