Pros:

I would say it was very nicely decorated, it was clean. The staff of the counter was very nice and told us about the shuttle from the capital down to the state fair. We appreciated that. Only thing is I wish there would’ve been a bar and a restaurant on site. Otherwise it was very lovely

Perfect place to stay in Ankeny.
Pros:

The breakfast was satisfying.
The staff helpful and friendly.
The rooms were spacious and quite comfortable for a long stay.
The beds were comfortable.
The room was clean and the kitchen was well equipped.
The business center was helpful. I was able to print a needed document.

Would not stay again.
Pros:

It was close to the event we were attending.

Cons:

sheet and bedding did not fit the bed; they were too small for the king bed. blanket was too small also. Made uncomfortable to sleep in.
Room was supposed to non-smoking, smelled like smoke. at breakfast, the hot items were cold. The pull-out bed was very uncomfortable for our granddaughter.
would not stay again.

Won’t stay here again!
Pros:

They will charge the full reservation even if you have to cut your stay short! We reserved 2 nights but were only able to stay 1 . The front desk gentleman was indicative and said they were forced to charge the full reservation.

Disappointing
Pros:

The location and the size of the room were great.

Cons:

The floors were filthy and sticky. The carpet was clearly not vacuumed. There was no bedding in the room for the sofa bed. The beds and pillows were perhaps the worst I've had.

The staff was great took care of some of ours needs through text while we were out explorering, always greeted with smiles and whatever the front desk staff could do for us

Cons:

Room was not clean entirely, some weird residue coming from the bathroom door frame, along with dirty wash cloths on the shower curtain frame, and a few items that were left from other guests still in either the window frame or even just on the floor, house keeping comes every other day and the day they came all they did was replace our towels but didn't give us enough towels and replaced the sheets we had everything picked up and was expecting like our other experiences with other hotels they would wipe counters and at least vacuum the areas but pretty sure they didn't. Also we booked this hotel for the reviews on there breakfast and the cleanliness but was disappointed by both, the breakfast didn't have much choices except muffins or breakfast burritos

Less than stellar, not what it used to be
Pros:

Went for a much needed get away & to visit family in Ankeny. We had stayed here in the past and looked forward to the pool, comfy beds, clean divided rooms, reception, and the jacuzzi. Unfortunately we found the room less than clean (washed all dishes and wiped sticky surfaces before using anything, there was a dirty sock under the air conditioning unit, etc), the jacuzzi - although still listed on the website - gone, the pool changed, the room was all one open area instead of the past suites that had two beds in one room and the living area next to it (still pictured that way on the website) . There was no bedding for the fold out couch, the items in the "store" were at least four times regular retail cost. There was mail beside the refrigerator from January 2025 - a year ago. Lastly, the evening reception is only on Wednesdays now, although it is still listed otherwise in places. The kids did enjoy the sort of "taco bar" style breakfast, however.

It didn't even seem like the same hotel. For the price, it isn't worth returning.

Excellent breakfast
Pros:

My husband and I had a staycation here a few months ago and I have been meaning to write a review. The hotel is at a great location just off I35. Well kept hotel and friendly staff (the guy at the front desk was so pleasant and nice to talk to). There is a gas station just down the street as well as Outback and Waterfront restaurants. The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast. They had THE best carnitas (shredded pork) I've ever had. In fact they were better than any Mexican restaurant. They were so good I wanted someone to give me the recipe. I want to stay again just so I can have them. Ha! Ha! We enjoyed our stay and it was very pet friendly. Will definitely stay here again.

The location made an excellent meeting place to both visit and eat.
