Great location from station and cosy room! Habib was also very welcoming and accommodating with any help necessary!
The room is a good size although seating was minimal. The bed looked comfortable if it wasn't stained with urine, blood and other body fluids.
The bathroom was bright and looked fairly new. But with issues.
The only good thing about the whole experience was the location 5 minutes walk from the station.
Things advertised (slippers, garden, designated smoking area, clean, 'hotel', ) none of which exists.
The hotel is breaking fire safety regulations by fire extinguishes left in the floor not walk mounted, breaking liability insurance regulations by not having a valid insurance certificate on display.
No hand rail on the stairs. The whole hotel is in a state of disrepair. My shower had hairs in it (long female hair). The sink in bathroom took an ages to drain and smelt of sewage.
The fan in the bathroom clogged with debris.
No tea or coffee facilities in the room. The bed had blood and urine stains. The smoking area is a bin in-between 2 other guest bedrooms in the ground floor. The hedges need a trim. The hotel needs Paint and decorating asap. The management skills were absolutely diabolical. The only sensible person I spoke to was the owner who was flying so couldn't speak easily. The word HOTEL means a higher expectation than a hostel but this place is more a hostel with private room. All round a completely disgusting visit from the hotel to the communication to the sarcastic digs from the hotel manager. I personally wouldn't entertain the fact again in this state.
Another guest and myself checked in the same day and both ended up at the Travelodge Newmarket road for around the same price and a way more superior room, level of serve, expectation and value for money.
I got a full refund but that didn't take into account my time in contacting all the managers by phone, or what's app. By having to call booking.com to confirm refund. And the time effort and cost to myself in getting another hotel. A complete and utter disgrace.
This is a foreign owned and run business in the heart of an historic English city, with a management set that doesn't understand English expectations, desires, needs or Communication.
I can not stress enough this is not a suitable place to stay in it's current state.
The room was impeccably clean and the staff Habib was incredibly helpful.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and there was air conditioning in the room. It has been recently taken over by new management and Habib was very friendly, encouraged me to let him know what updates the place needed and was very helpful on check in and check out.
The shower head sprayed water out at odd angles, the paint needs some updating.
The room was quiet as we had requested, at the back of the property, and the bed was comfortable so we had a good night's sleep. The room was clean and toiletries were provided. Habib was very helpful and friendly.
The location is great: a quiet street but near the station and not far from the city centre.
The kitchen was pretty basic - no crockery or cutlery apart from one spoon. It would be nice to have a few more glasses/bowls/spoons for those who want to have breakfast.

Quilt cover should be changed more often and there were some dust falling down quite quickly if my laptop/phone is left on bed.

The property has secured keyword pass which is convenient and safe. The host Mr. Habib has been a great manager for our stay. We asked for an extra-cover and he managed to deliver very soon. Also provided luggage storage areas for us to temporarily store our suitcases safely. Many thanks to Habib!
