Fantastic location next to the beach. We had a double room looking out on the road for 6 nights.
Pros - location, good breakfast, clean, good sized room, great safe beach, friendly staff, nice area to sit out near the beach, entertaining monkeys, a sloth and it's baby up a tree outside reception when we were there.
Cons - traffic noise early morning, drinks and food quite expensive (so we actually ate at a restaurant up the road), although happy hours on cocktails in the afternoon was quite useful.
I would avoid or at least ask for a room across the street on the restaurant/ beach side. We got the room on the reception office side. Had to climb at least 3 or 4 steep flights of stairs and a steep hill walk to get to our room. The lighting isn’t very good on the stairs, and the steps are steep. Our room #18, had a ton of bugs (more than normal for the tropics tourist hotel), including ants crawling all around our bathroom sicks, towels, and toilet paper. There was a big hole under the air conditioner and the a/c had a bad musty smell. It took them 2 days to finally fill up and fix the hole. Which finally got the bugs to stop coming in. They did clean/fumigate the room to try to get rid of the bugs. But because of the hole in the wall, we woke up to more bugs crawling in the room and a big red spider on the ceiling. But it took our tour guide to talk to the them to get it fixed. The shower water pressure was a trickle and was bad. Expect a ton of bugs outside your rooms at night. The bathroom also had no ventilation. The beds were comfortable though. And the hotels saving grace was the amazing view of the coast/ocean view from our room. We were high up enough on the side (remember those flights of stairs and a steep hill you have to climb to get up to your room for this view) of the mountain, that we saw the parasailing people and they seem to be eye level to you from the distance.
Staying here 2 nights within an OAT tour
AHH, back to air-conditioning in the room. Giving this room accommodation a 3.9 hinge rating, but if you add in the ambiance of the grounds, it would be much higher (who in this wonderful location stays in the room other than to sleep and shower).
It has been a long day, so after we settled in, we walked to the beach to watch the sunset while we had a Margarita (double bubble) on Espadilla Beach.
FYI = friends that have talked to us about their visits to this area = Yes we did see the two places where there are big jet aircraft rugged as bars for the tourist. Like most places we have stayed in the walk from one attraction / restaurant / eatery to another is a little up and down so not that inviting for anyone with a disability (a car is required).
The hotel is on both sides of the road. I was given a unit on the opposite side of the beach, but still very close, approximately 5 mins walking distance. Our waitress Rocio was very nice and welcoming. We were able to see monkeys and other animals while on the beach and eating at the restaurant. I also enjoyed walking from the restaurant to the town. It’s about 15 mins walk. The only negative is the building is next to the road and you can hear all the traffic but the positives outweighs the negatives!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the best vacations. Just great all over.
Excellent beach. A lot of exotic animals
Great location, perfect for families. Everything as described. Monkeys and birds every morning. Great 2 nights
I enjoyed staying at this resort. My room was higher up on the hill which was a flight of stairs to get there. But it was tranquil to be surrounded by nature including seeing monkeys swinging through the trees and iguanas roaming in the terrain.
I missed having a Tv for night downtime or distraction. The resort’s restaurant, pool, and beach were about a five to ten minute walk from the hillside rooms.
Needs to renovate rooms , nice view beautiful beach and pool
Not very clean, my “villa” up the hill had a great view but was old, very humid, holes on the pillow cases, scratches on the duvet cover and too much space under the main door thus allowing for caterpillars to get it.
Breakfast is terribly poor : jam in plastic packets, no pancakes unless you pay extra, no cake : simply bread, Casado, omelette and potatoes if you are lucky.
Some horrid American cereals too.
If you want to eat there : pizza is $25 !!!
The pool is the size of a fish tank.
Staff is not always friendly.
You cannot swim in the sea, too dangerous.
Only + : close to the national park Manuel Antonio that can be reached through the beach.
NB : Costa Rica is like an extension of the USA, so expensive, tacky
Very very average. Definitely overpriced for what you get.
It was great having the beach and being close to the park. The room was simple, nothing fancy but the a/c worked well and the garden was well maintained. It's higher priced for the location and beach access.
Close to thebeach. Everyone was very nice. There is no way to reach the office, unless you walk up the hill. Not good in case of emergency.
A microwave in room would be nice. Saw lots of wildlife which was cool
Beautiful rooms with very nice ocean views. Restaurant was very expensive. Beach front and within walking distance of Manuel Antonio.
Many stairs, lots of bugs
The location is wonderful, featuring a very nice beach. The bungalows situated on the hill offer a stunning view; however, the climb to the top can be inconvenient if you have to do it multiple times a day.
To reach the beach or the restaurant where breakfast is served, you must cross a street with fast-moving cars. There is no clearly marked crosswalk, making it quite dangerous. Speed bumps are definitely needed in this area.
Two beach towels in your room. Comfy beds. Good lighting and water pressure. Percale sheets and very clean rooms. No telephone in room to call reception in another building if you have a question. No elevator to third floor. Easy ramp instead. Separate review of hotel restaurant Canto del Mar.
The Hotel is great I would recommend it to all my friends. But the wifi sucks. Very weak wifi and only intermittent in the rooms
No wifi at the beach nor at the breakfast/lunch areas.
I think serious attention needs to be paid to the wifi in that hotel as it is an easy solution with low cost and huge benefit to the clients.
We absolutely loved this hotel! It was like paradise! The staff were super friendly and super helpful. The pool and the beach and the restaurant were all amazing. The rooms were great. We had booked a room up the hill and were offered an upgrade when we got there for a reasonable fee and we were so glad we made the change. We will definitely be back to this wonderful hotel!
This is such a beautiful property. Fantastic beach and restaurant.
