The Empire Hotel has Foxtel and when I arrived, the tv in my room didn't work. I'd evpect the tv to work properly in even the cheapest motels or hotels. Hotel staff didn't seem to have much interest in solving the problem.

Highly recommend Empire Apartment hotel. From check in the staff were friendly and prompt. Room was ready on time, clean and everything in order. Property was clean and tidy, including the pool and gym area. Bedding was comfortable and all appliances in working order. The property is close to shops and restaurants.
In most respects this is an excellent hotel. It is well located in Rockhampton's CBD. My spacious and quiet apartment had river views. Staff members I encountered were helpful and friendly. I could park easily. The well furnished and well maintained apartment had a wide range of facilities, including a washing machine and dryer. It was very clean. My bed was comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was good. There was a well equipped small kitchen. Food in the hotel's cafe and restaurant was of a high standard. I only have a couple of criticisms. There was no safe, which is most unusual in a four star hotel. The wifi signal was quite weak and sometimes briefly dropped out. I would stay here again.
Our association had a conference nearby and many members were booked through the Empire Hotel; after the 2 day conference, my husband joined me and we stayed for a few days doing some sightseeing in the area. The Empire Hotel is fabulous, lovely large comfortable rooms, overlooking the Fitzroy River; comfy beds, high quality linen and a mini kitchen AND dryer and washing machine. The charge-back system with the Coffee Club is super-handy; gym and pool are great, and cleaning staff replace towels and service the room regularly.

Friendly staff, clean and great Hotel..
Great location near the river, great walk past colonial style buildings. Very clean and spacious. Good bed. Great quick and convenient stopover on long coastal drive.
