Renaissance Allentown Hotel

For those who aren't familiar with Allentown, the central downtown area is uniquely comprised of one way streets and stoplights. Trying to find the hotel, let alone where to park --to put it nicely-- was a nightmare. It did not help that the PPL center, a live event/concert venue is attached to the Renaissance hotel, and share a parking garage. Because there was a concert the night I arrived, I had to park 7 floors up, and there was a huge line at the singular elevator for the whole garage. Travelling down 6-1/2 flights of stairs with my luggage, I felt pretty rushed when first checking in. Front desk quickly summarized the hotel's amenities and how the key cards worked while I was struggling to confirm payment info on the keypad after 11 hours of travel by car. When I got to my floor, it was unclear to me that a card scanner next to an emergency telephone several feet from the locked door that led to the actual hallway of my hotel room needed to be scanned before it would open... the hallway. A hallway I could only access through the elevator which required I scan my key card just to select that particular floor.... I left the elevator thinking I had just been transported to The Backrooms and returned down to ask for clarification. Once I finally reached my room, all of the lightswitches weren't functional. and I had to call for maintenance to fix literally every single light switch built into a wall in my room. Granted, the desk lamps worked. I was tired and on the verge of an emotional breakdown by the time my room was finally functional. I thought for over $600 for two nights I'd get a decently nice experience but I cannot say I got that here.

Price was on high side for the room quality and included (limited) amenities.

The set up of the hotel/parking garage makes no sense. My sister is in a wheelchair and we had to take 4 different elevators and go through a maze of hallways to get to our room. There were no signs on the floor our room was on so we had a hard time finding it. It was not easy carrying bags and pushing a chair at the same time while navigating the maze. The hotel is accessible, but only if the disabled individual is not traveling alone. I even messaged the property ahead of time to ask if it was easy to navigate because my sister was in a wheelchair. They stated it was, but that was not true. We paid for a city view room but all we could see out of our window was a wall. The room had trash on the floor and the blankets had rips and tears in them like they were old. We ordered room service for breakfast and they did not bring silverware. I requested to get some and no one ever brought any so the food got cold while we waited. $71 breakfast unable to eat, portions were very small as well.

No sheets/pillows for the pull out couch
The door bolt didn’t work
TV didn’t work at all
When I brought it to the desks attention they offered HALF off breakfast. Ridiculous!
And it cost $500. Rip off.
