Great service and staff and very clean and modern.
Great time, great little pleasures in the room, very much wanting you to enjoy a relaxing trip and the help with this.
Very much in the middle of all things walking
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff is over the top friendly, especially in the bar, which is worth a trip for non-hotel guests. Complimentary snacks in the room and breakfast! Can't complain about that! Rooms are average size but the overall experience was top notch. Charleston is a beauty.
This gilded age boutique hotel is a great place to stay in Charleston. Clise to all the downtown restaurants and walkable to most areas of interest. In arrival, our room was not yet available so the concierge Wade (love that guy!) suggested we grab the Turkey Asiago sandwich at Carmella's Cafe just a few blocks away. It was a fantastic recommendation and he us a genuinely awesome human being.
Loved the nightly turndown which includes a tiny nigtcap in a chocolate cup. Non alcoholic options are available yoon request as well. One thing that you're going to find is that there is no shortage of food in this tien so be sure to take advantage of the little gym in the sister hotel French Quarter Inn around the back of the block.
The amenities in the hotel are very nice, from the welcome drink to the toiletries to the free mini-bar snacks and drinks to the towel warmer and breakfast delivery daily, you will feel spoiled and not want to leave!
The Spectator in Charleston is a true gem. My wife's 75th birthday prompted a special trip to a city we had never visted before, and the Spectator seemed ideal in terms of location and amenities. But we were not prepared for the amazing level of friendliness and service we encountered on arrival and all through our stay. A botle of champagne awaited in our room (I did not ask for it!) and every request (blanket, decaf tea bags, etc) however small was executed almost immediately and unobtrusively. The staff was extremely helpful with restaurant and tour suggestions. All in all this was a perfect choice and we would definitely choose the Spectator on any future visit to Charleston.
Dated room, worn bad quality bathroom … poor breakfast . One warm choice with scrambled eggs (no choice of how one wants it) poor ingredients. Two other options we tried the continental and salmon both had been poor . No restaurant so they bring breakfast to room. Sort of inconvenient every day as well. In summary the worn dated bathroom especially and low quality breakfast was unexpectedly disappointing and worse among the 4 and 5 star hotels we staid at in Charleston in the past.
We’ve stayed at top hotels all over the world, and I can say that this was the best service that we have received anywhere. Better than The Four Seasons, better than the Montage, better than the Peninsula and the Ritz. This team goes out of their way to make your stay memorable, from tips on where to go and what to eat, to proactively preparing snack bags to go for days out. We especially loved Jim, our Butler, but everything was fantastic. The drinks in the bar are also incredible. Don’t miss the Silence of the Yams. Sounds weird and silly, but we went back three separate times just to have that cocktail.
My friend and I had a girls weekend trip in Charleston. It was our first time in the city, so we decided to stay in the historic downtown area. We wanted a boutique hotel and found the Spectator. We are so glad we stayed there. It is right by the market and walkable to so many shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The butler service is such a nice touch-- they provided us with everything we needed, quickly. Having breakfast chosen the night before and served in the morning while we were in our robes made us feel so pampered. Drinks and snacks in the room are also included -- as is a welcome drink. Would definitely stay here again!
