We had a beach room, and the position was perfect.
The room was clean.
How ever, they only serve breakfast, and have no other facilities.
There are plenty of options outside.
There are bars to get drinks next door if you are on the beach, and some nice places to eat too.
Having said that, it was just what we needed.
The sunsets are beautiful.
There is a shop that sells everything just 2 mins away.
Don’t expect too much, and you will be happy.
Hi there, we stayed at the Tropicana for 24 nights in a deluxe sea view room. The room was everything we expected from the far east, we thought the breakfast was good and varied. The staff were very friendly, guang who seemed to have that many jobs, in breakfast cleaning windows and manning the beach bar could have done with some help. We really enjoyed or stay and priced to return next year but to or shock they doubled the price for the same room to 4,000000VND per night. We think this is way to high for a 2 star hotel that needs money spending on the pool and sun beds on the beach. Maybe the price is higher because it was busy from all the booking sites. We are pleased we stayed there but there is a limit to what you pay for a long stay holiday.
Great stay. Exactly what I was hoping. Not the highest of high luxury, but pretty darn nice, but if you’re shopping on hotels.com, and not going right to your luxury vacation planner, this should be perfect for you. Not knowing anything about Phu Quoc before going, it was exactly where I would want to be. Staff was incredibly nice. Easily walkable to plenty of restaurants, and centrally located to get anywhere else. Definitely recommend. And splurge for the waterview room. Well worth a few extra dong!
Hôtel proche de la plage privée de l'hôtel.
Restaurants à proximité.
petit déjeuner correct.
Great beach
There was problem with the AC on my first day but they fixed the problem with giving me a new room with fine working AC so problem solved. This property has beautiful beach, pool and staff were very friendly and polite. I’ll definitely want to come back here.
Absolutely recommended it's beautiful and clean quiet the pool is amazing walk out of our room and jump in set right on the beach the little lane is lovely a shop restraunts foot spa we stayed for a month we loved it so much staff couldn't do enough for us Kenny and Joyce truly looked after us
I concur with the good reviews and the bad. I had room on the beach, no complaints there, big room big bed. Beach was very quiet so had to myself most of the time. There's not much access to the beach unless your staying in one of the resorts along the strip. Resort doesn't have any amenities apart from breakfast buffet which I gave a miss. Plenty of stuff close by, bars, restaurants mini mart.
I recommend canary bungalo for food you will walk past it next door to tropicana. I would stay here again.
Air conditioning is token change other room and the bathroom i don’t like
I do not understand how people have had bad experience here. So the thing is, I came here first to another hotel and planned to look for a resort while being here. I did check some hotels up on booking, but wanted to see them before booking. Tropicana I found by accident, when I was just wondering around and I liked it straight away. I stepped in, asked for a price and to see the room and have a walk to the beach - the staff was very friendly and showed me everything. I took some time to think about the offer because it was slightly more expensive than I was willing to pay and went to see other places that I looked up on booking... after seeing 2-3 places, I figured that I rahter pay this 10€ per night more. I booked a standard room at the second floor.
What is good:
1. Staff is very friendly and helpful, especially a young guy at the reception. Always says hi and gives a smile.
2. Rooms are big and I like the view from the bathroom to the palm trees.
3. Rooms are big, did I say it already? :D
4. The walk to the beach is so beautiful. I did walk multiple times by the beach and passed other hotels, they did not seem to have such a nice garden as this hotel has.
5. The hotel has a private beach. First I was afraid that there won't be enough of chairs and I need to sunbath at sun, but somehow it had just enough and people were coming and leaving constantly and never was there a problem of not having enough of chairs. You also get towels from the hotel to go to the beach.
6. There are two massage stations nearby, need to walk like 50 m to get a massage by the beach for a good price
7. Many places around to grab a drink or eat fruits.
8. Around the hotel are nice places for dinner etc.
9. Curtains in the room are really good - they actually make the room dark, even with strong sun!
If I need to point out something that needs improvment, then..:
1. Breakfast could be better... at least the fruit and juice section. It is a bit boring and small. The breakfast is extra 150k, so maybe next time I would not take the breakfast from here and eat outside. The breakfast is until 9.30, which is super early for me... would be good if it was at least until 10.
2. My room had some water damage on the wall, which looked a bit off.. and walls here and there are dirty - simple things to fix in oder to make the room nicer.
Agh, before I forget, there is a very good laundry service nearby the hotel. To walk by the beach like 500-700 meters! Costs only 25k per kilo. I guess the hotel is also offering the laundry service, but not sure for what price.
Would I come back here if I visit Phu Quoc again?
Yes, for sure (but would skip the breakfast ;))
We stayed in one of the bungalows just back from the beach for 7 nights over New Year. We loved it - it has the perfect chilled tropical holiday vibe we look for. It’s perfectly located near beach bars and restaurants as well as everything you need on the nearby laneway and main road. The room was very clean and the staff are lovely and helpful. The only nitpick is the breakfast is a bit boring in its simplicity but who cares! We’ll be back.
Very old room and dirty. The fridge was not working and was dirty, internet is not working in many rooms, the breakfast Is so poor and sad but sad....the beach Is ok but the sea Is dirty . The woman at the reception so unpleasant! After 1 night I decided to leave and I was reimbursed only 50% of the deposit, this was such a dishonesty act from Vietnamese, that frankly speaking never happened to me.
The neighbour are building so noisy all day, during the night noise and music from a bar next to the resort...
I visited this resort with very high expectations after seeing the pics but what disappointed me most was the lack of services,i asked for dinner and they told me that they serve only breakfast and in morning I asked for breakfast and they start giving excuses,so I went to the neighborhood tweeny restaurant where I get delicious breakfast and that's not all , despite being ill I had to carry my own luggage because there was no staff ,so I won't suggest this resort to anyone
This place was pure gold for me. I didn’t want to book some crazy expensive resort where you have no interaction with locals, so instead I booked a sad moldy room off the main drag that was terrible. I canceled that and came here—what a relief. It’s clean, comfortable, air conditioned, and on the beach and there’s a good pool, too, but it’s also in town so you can walk to dinner and everything you need. The staff are super nice. There’s a decent cheap breakfast and you can rent paddle boards. All this for $46-$60/night. It feels like sort of low-end luxury. High-end budget? Anyway, why only 4 stars? The beachfront isn’t the best and they don’t groom and clean it like at fancier resorts. The ocean here is full of trash, and it’s a bummer. I spent much of my paddle board time scooping plastic bags and bits and pieces out of the ocean—if you come to Phu Quoc, you should, too.
I wish I had stay there longer than one night. But I would recommend staying staying this resort. It is a great location that is not too far from the night market and locals street food vendors.
There’s a beach access and you can walk to the sunset bar/club for a night cap if you like.
Very nicely located, convenient to everything. Has Great Restaurants within walking distance.
Spacious,Super CleanBungalows located on or next to the Ocean. Wonderful Helpful staff from Dung the receptionist to the nice ground keeper. Properties are superbly manicured with Coconut,Mango, Banana Trees and beautiful tropical plants. Private Beach is clean and well organized. Overall you will be treated like a King and or Queen.
The lady at reception Jessica will demand for extra money and take pictures of you and shout at you that i wil call police. They didn't mention anything about late check out to us but call at 12:01pm and say even if you check out by 12:15 you pay 100k per hour. I understand if you tell about these charges at time of check in or call atleast 1 hour before check out time. You cannot just call and scare people and shout at them. Jessica is her name.
I was first time in 10/2016. It was excellent.
Ms.Jasmine manager was very kind and gave me upgraded room on the beach. Terrace chairs and table were dirty and sticky. I called cleaners.
I wanted to make the tea in the evening. That was when I noticed that the tea tray was dirty and loaded with human hair like in the barber shop, plus the tray, tea pot and cups were dirty, too. Photo!!!
The next morning I brought the tea tray to receptionist and asked for the manager to show her. She was not there at the moment. When I saw Ms. Jasmine again, I told her that I deserve I night free for the inconvenience that I experienced.
During the first night I got some kind of allergy on my back, chest and upper arm. I believed it was bed bugs. Mr. Jasmine offered me some cream. She helped me and put cream on my back and chest. She even bought the new cream the next day because the previous one was expired. I declined.
The breakfast was not worth the money($87/day). No many choices for breakfast. The soup was excellent. I asked for boiled eggs and the staff did it.
The staff is kind, the resort has a lot of potentials, but a lot of things started to fall apart. The nice small beach was dirty.
My check out was fast. Ms. Jasmine offered me 1 night free on my next stay for the inconvenience that I had. I refused and said that I would never come to Tropicana again.
The site photos are not the real representative of Tropicana now. Too bad. It was once a beautiful place to stay and enjoy.
The Resort is located in the Duong Dong area, along the Long Beach. It takes about 5-10mins drive to get to Phu Quoc Night Market (you can order a taxi via Grab app) or a 20-30mins walk along the main road Đường Trần Hưng Đạo, checking out shops/eateries en route. From the airport, it takes about 15-minute to get to the Resort. Do note that the hotel is located in a small lane from the main road (in the direction of the traffic, turn left into the small lane from Đường Trần Hưng Đạo ).
I'd the Deluxe Room, which is sizeable and has basic necessities. Ensuite bathroom comes with a standing shower and see-through window with blinds. There is also a balcony with suntan benches, which are nice to relax in to enjoy a good read, nap, or simply doing nothing and gazing at the faraway sea. I was torn between watching the sunset here or getting down to the beach for a close-up view!
The Resort has direct access to Long Beach so it was a short walk from the main lobby building to the beach area, passing by the swimming pool. If you prefer to be nearer to the beach, there're bungalows and beachfront room options available too. I read that this is a private beach but as the resorts in the vicinity are all lined cluttered, I do think the area is accessible by public as well.
I didn't order any food at the Resort and settled my meals mainly at the Sunlight Restaurant located opposite the Resort, or at the Night Market or wherever I was during the day. There are 1-2 eateries nearby but more food options can be found along the main road.
For activities, it is better to sign up for day tours to explore Phu Quoc as many places are difficult to get to and these tours usually pick up / drop off at the Resort. When I was there, there was a Hop On Hop Off tour bus service, which had a stop along the main road near Tropicana Resort. I am not sure if this was new or an unpopular option as many people did not seem to be aware of it then. And with its low frequency, it is important to catch the right timing. The bus is almost like a loop service covering a huge area, so it is impossible to finish all the stops within a day. Hence, do plan beforehand.
During my stay, there were more domestic tourists and English was not widely spoken here and in Phu Quoc in general, versus other bigger tourist cities HCMC, Hanoi and Danang. Communicating slower with gestures will be able to get you through. Except for the blackouts due to the thunderstorms one night, my episodes, with dysfunctional light bulb, lizards/gecko and leaving keycard in the room, were resolved and the staff, particularly the younger staff, were always helpful.
