Ocean House Inn & Condos

We booked a reservation in January for July. In mid April we needed to cancel for personal reasons. This was 11+ weeks prior to the beginning of the stay. It was pointed out to us that this property has a no cancellation, no refund policy. This was never clear at booking so....BEWARE...I spoke to the proprietor and she was very clear, that even in the event of booking our room to others, we would not receive a refund....this is the hospitality industry?

The hotel was in a beautiful location. It was a little more worn than the pictures indicated but still nice. The one ‘complaint’ was that there two many decorative pillows. We had two pretty large suitcases. It got very crowded when there about 10 large decorative pillows on the two beds and sofa. However the view was great and the deck was enjoyable with plenty of seating.

This is our second stay in the Sea Breeze unit at Ocean House Inn (first time 4 yrs ago). Sunny was easy to communicate with and the unit was as nice as we remembered. The location is beautiful with a view off the deck, a hot tub and a fire pit. Given it was cold and rained most of the time we were there, the hot tub was much appreciated to warm us up. The sea breeze has one King bedroom and one with two queen beds. One bathroom. Spacious, clean and comfortable for 2 couples.

Fabulous stay st this family run and charismatic property overlooking the bay.

Great location and base for activities around Homer or simply relaxing on the patio, warmed by your private fire pit or watching eagles soar passed whilst relaxing in the heated jacuzzi.

The charming rooms are well appointed with wonderfully comfortable beds. We were fortunate to have Room 5 (Captains Cabin) which offered great views and was very quiet.

Visited with two adult sons and husband . We had the two bottom rooms on the right . The staff were fabulous and very helpful !!the location was breathtaking ! We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub in the evenings and the view in the morning . All of us were very pleased with the comfort of the beds and the bathrobes were very appreciated after the hot tub . We will definitely be back!

We stayed in the 3 bedroom condo. The location is fantastic: views are amazing, beach access is great, very close to the spit. Also, the grounds, hot tub, and fire pits were wonderful. Our unit was spacious and definitely enough room for 6 people. This unit is like a rental condo, just a texted door code, no front desk or anything, but check in was smooth and easy. We did feel the unit could use some freshening up (new carpet, paint, etc). Overall, a very nice stay.

We stayed in room #3 on a recent trip to Alaska and the views were beautiful. One of the few king size beds we ran across and the linens and other amenities were great. Very low touch staff--no housekeeping for our two-night stay--but we had everything we needed. Plenty of coffee, nice fridge size, available glasses and nice bathroom amenities. The porch for this room was nice sized and had astonishing views of the mountains and water.

They took our money for a reservation during a time that the hotel wasn’t even open. That was over a month ago and between me and my coworker she still owes us a $2800.00 refund and has gone radio silent. The owner left me a voicemail saying she would take care of it but has failed to follow up. Use caution when booking this hotel.

My parents and I stayed here in Superior Room Two for two nights and we were absolutely stunned by how lovely both the room(s) and property were! It was so great to have a comfortable two king bedroom suite with a door in between for the three of us. The suite was beautifully decorated and everything was so plush and comfortable. The hot tub was great and despite it being shared with all the other rooms, we were able to find times to squeeze in to ourselves. And the view from the property is just stunning! We were initially disappointed by not being able to find lodging on the spit and now I wouldn’t stay anywhere else! It’s a perfect location just in town with a great view of the water and the spit without being in the center of the touristy scene. And our host Sandy was so delightful and welcoming! We ended up having several lovely conversations with her and my parents even exchanged numbers with her. I had a few interactions with the cleaning staff and they were so friendly and helpful too. Now I won’t stay anywhere else in Homer!

We had a very negative experience. The condo and location are gorgeous. The host/owner Sandy was confrintational and unwelcoming. This is definitely something nobody wants to deal with on their vacation. We got in around 8:15. We could not find heater. Sandy told us not to text her after 8pm and told us to leave the oven and fire on. We later found that the fireplace was electric thank goodness.

At 10pm the toilet clogged, overflowed and toilet water was all over the bathroom floor. There was hardly any toilet paper in the toilet. We spent 45 minutes using the plunger in the condo but could not get it to unclog. It was 10:45 pm when we stopped trying and nobody was available to help. I had cleaning wipes with me to clean the floor but we were not able to use the toilet or shower until the following day. Sandy was very upset when we texted her in the morning about the toilet. She told us she thought we were an "elderly couple" that we "used to much toilet paper" and clogging the toilet was our fault. She told us we should have "double flushed". It was appalling how she spoke to us. We were paying $425 to stay in the condo and was shocked with her behavior and lack of accountablility for the maitenance of her rental. She later came into the condo to confront us about the toilet after her husband came to unclog the toilet. She told us we would be more comfortable in a hotel. At that point, we just wanted her to leave the condo and we wanted to leave as well. All of the hotels in town were full and we just wanted to enjoy the rest of the day in Homer. We have since asked for half of the first night stay to be reimbursed.

The worse part was that we have traveled all over the world. We have stayed in many places, upscale and budget, but have never been spoken to this way by a host or owner. It was more upsetting to be treated so poorly than to try to unclog a toilet.

We stayed at the Ocean House Inn for 3 nights in late June and it was wonderful! The view is truly incredible, the room decor is great, and Sunny was very warm and helpful. It was our favorite hotel of our entire trip to Alaska!

We feel like we found a 'gem' booking Ocean House. Our room was beautiful and it was beautifully appointed -so welcoming and comfortable. We loved being 'tucked away' with the bay at our door. We stayed 3 nights and were very sad to leave.
We stayed in Suite 4. Not only the view, the wildlife put on a show for us.
What an incredible property to stay at.
The owner and management was most accommodating and responsive.
My daughter and family rented the Artik Suite/Condo. It was a perfect spot.

We took our large family on a vacation to Homer to celebrate a wedding and stayed at the Ocean House Inn. It was fantastic! The owner Sunny was very accommodating and the units were beautiful! We had 4 of their units total for our family. We stayed in the Beach Condo #6, the little Mermaid, #1, #2 and the Captain's Quarters. I highly recommend this place for any vacation. We will definitely be back!

This place was a welcome last 2 night stop at the end of a very active 1st visit to Alaska with it's relaxing deck complete with fireplace and hot tub. stayed in unit 3: great for a couple, beautiful views from room/comfy King bed out to water. Yes, you can have people walking in front of your unit if on the ground level, but did not find it problematic.

This was our first trip to Homer and we could not have picked a better place to stay. We stayed in #5, Captains Quarters, and loved it. The decor is stylish and comfy and the whole place was very clean. The host Sunny was nice, and we loved sitting out on the deck by the many fire pits watching the tides. You can technically walk down to the beach but it’s not an easy walk so we recommend heading over to Bishop’s Beach. The Ocean House Inn is in a great location for exploring Homer and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved exploring the Spit, traveling out East End Road, heading up to Skyline Drive, and doing a float plane trip out of Beluga Lake. We would love to stay here again and definitely recommend the Ocean House Inn.

Booked hotel with every intention to visit during the summer, but due to B. A. cancelling our flights to Alaska, the whole trip we'd been planning for months was off. Every other hotel, car hire company, ferry company, rail company in Alaska was happy to refund our deposit or full payment, apart from this one particular hotel. Despite several requests from me and booking.com, they still are refusing a full refund. Very disappointing.

Stayed two nights in Suite #30. By far the best room in the house! Loved the private balcony overlooking the ocean. Saw bald eagles and people beach combing. Nice easy walk to the beach from the property. Beautiful landscaped grounds, amazing and friendly hosts. Can say any negatives about the place. The shared kitchen is big plus Dinning and living room are spacious. Gas grille was a plus as we cooked freshly caught halibut there. Highly recommend this place. We will be back!!

Nice hotel. Rooms are very comfortable. More like a very nice apartment than traditional hotel room. Management was easy to with on the stay. The views are absolutely amazing of the Spit and the Bay. You can't beat the location. Would stay here again if I return to Homer.
