Anchorage Inn and Resort

We visited recently, off-season, and had two rooms on the 2nd floor. The view was beautiful! They decorate (at Christmas) BEAUTIFULLY and I believe their lights remain lit until late January. It really is gorgeous.

The rooms are definitely old but our bed was comfortable, clean and updated appearance to the beds and linens, and the tv/coffee maker/etc were all nice to have. We had two double beds and it was comfortably sized (along with a little cafe type table and 2 chairs).

The tub is old. Clean but old.

Tub and toilet are in the bathroom, the vanity/sink are outside of the bathroom - just for reference. This worked well for us, and can work well for families trying to shower/get ready separately but simultaneously.

Location is fantastic. Right across from the gorgeous ocean. Roaring waves, beautiful sounds and sights. I loved the location. Plenty of restaurants, even off-season, to visit VERY close by. Nubble light is in view from the hotel (and is just minutes away by car). Gorgeous.

They have a little bar/cafe inside the office/pool building. The bar is pricey in a way that makes zero sense. Bartender, while nice, probably isn't a bartender at all and is just assisting in that area as there was really no knowledge of beverages to make/mix and no rhyme or reason to pricing. No where to sit to enjoy them unless you sit in the pool area which is WARM (heated pool, so it's nice for swimmers) and noisey as all get out if there are many swimming. Pool seemed nice, though we didn't use it (outdoor pool is closed right now due to the season).

All in all, we would stay again. Our rooms were ready VERY early (so great) and we received text messages to alert us, so we were able to check in well before our time and we appreciated that a lot.

The woman at the front desk was extremely rude. I had an issue and was double booked. She claimed I went through Expedia ( I didn’t) so she couldn’t assist. I called the number she gave me and that didn’t work, because like I said, I didn’t go through Expedia I hit the call button on their website and was sent to a reservation assist number. Anyhow, I had one of the rooms cancelled. The room that was cancelled had my name incorrect and it was a first floor no view room. This wasn’t the one I wanted, so that’s the one I canceled. It was cheaper as well. I received confirmation that it was canceled. When I went to check in she said that they canceled the wrong room. I tried to show her my emails that proved that they didn’t cancel the incorrect room and she wouldn’t even look at them. She just kept saying I was wrong. I tried to tell her that I used their website to make my reservation and she said, that’s not our website. It clearly was, but she refused to even look. She was so disrespectful! Then she acted as though she was doing me a favor by giving us the room that I paid for. Oh and I received a copy of the receipt at the end of my trip and it was for the room she claimed was canceled. It was awful customer service.

We went on a Sunday we were told they let the locals swim there on Sundays for free so if we knew that we wouldn't of came on Sunday then there were people talking really load outside room till like 9pm n we were awoke by load noises above us it was a horrible night stay the worst we have ever had. Think twice if we ever stay there again n we go there a couple times a year

I was shocked how worn out the Anchorage Inn was. We paid $300.00 per night. The room was so worn out. Carpet, furniture, beds were old and not cleaned. The walls were so thin that we felt the people next to us were in our room. You could hear whole conversations. It was awful. We were up so early due to the noise. The doors not only needed paint but were dirty. The TV sat on a dresser and wasn't even plug in. I hated going back to the hotel at night. The pillows were hard as rocks and both my husband and I have terrible neck pain. We were celebrating our 35 Anniversary. The bath soap was the old soap you would get in motels years ago. It had a terrible smell. I would NOT recommend staying at the Anchorage Inn in York Beach. You will be so disappointed.

This was our 25th year of staying at The Anchorage Inn for our fall getaway. After staying in the Main Building for many years, we have spent the last few years in The Atrium Building. The rooms are large and updated, comfortable, have a mini fridge and microwave, huge bathroom, and small private balconies. Much quieter than the Main Building, and some rooms have partial views of the ocean. We always enjoy our time at The Anchorage Inn 🥰

The inn sits on the main road across from the ocean and beach. Location was convenient as was the on-sight parking. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the ocean. The open "hallway" is between you and the view, so we did not open the curtains for privacy. The room itself was big enough, and had a table/chairs in front of the windows. There were seats outside as well. The coffee machine and all that is needed for a welcome morning first cup or 2 is a great addition. All seemed clean, though a bit tired. The bathroom was tiny, with the sink outside in the back of the room itself. The floor was tilted in the bathroom. The big down for me was the overpowering smell in the room. I'm sure it was a product used to clean the carpet. I hope the hotel considers a remodel to these rooms in the future to replace the carpet with another type of flooring.

Excellent

The room had a view of the ocean off the deck. The staff and room were both excellent. My only complaint was the lack of insulation in the room and therefore we could hear everything, like kids in the indoor pool and the ice machine at 3 in the morning!

We were a bit underwhelmed with our room. The room was clean but the furniture was tattered and worn, especially the chair seats. I was glad to only stay there 1 night. The only restaurant across the street had uninspiring food. The beach view is from across the street which when you look at all of the photos on their website you are made to believe that the hotel is on the beach side of the highway, it is not just fyi.

The room in the Atrium building was nice, with a good view of the beach. Everything we needed was there. Staff were friendly and made check-in and check-out easy. I love the location and hope to stay there again.

Beautiful location. Room very comfortable. My ONLY complaint was the attitude and very unwelcoming reception by the manager/owner. He was the rudest "guest service" person I've ever encountered. Coming from a person that has traveled to over 75 countries that says a lot.

Great location, close to the lighthouse, restaurants and beach . Our suite was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Nice view of an 80 degree fall day.

Stayed in the suite for 2 nights very nice room only wish I was on the higher floor for a better view of the ocean but was way more expensive.

The room was perfectly clean. The staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay again if I am in the area.

Clean, convenient though room is not big.

Such a beautiful place. Loved the view of the ocean. The staff were very accommodating with upgrading our room upon request. The only con were the smokers sitting on the front balcony next to our room. We had to shut the front door to stop the smoke from entering our room, missing out on the gorgeous day and breeze.
