Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks

The bathroom was not very clean, outdated, and extremely small, such that we all decided to skip showering since we were only there for one night. The pool and hot tub are nice, but I didn't realize we would be charged for the amenities on top of the $700 we already paid for one night. The view is nice but the road is busy. The breakfast is very minimal and we thought there could have been more options. If you are staying in this area and have time, we highly recommend Seven Seas whale watching!

Such a relaxing stay. The balcony was facing the ocean, the pool, and the entertainment area. The pool and hot tub were clean and towels were always available. There were freshly baked cookies every evening at 4pm. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. The parking was simple and adequate. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. We loved it.

Upon arrival my wife and I were surprised to discover a motel that had been advertised as a “historic" hotel. We were glad we chose to pay extra for the second level Premium King room. When we entered our assigned room it reeked with mildew. We immediately called the front desk telling the manager that we could not stay there. A short time later, a housekeeping person arrived with a spray bottle. We headed to the front desk where the manager told us that only double queen rooms were available.
Checking out the next morning we asked about a rate adjustment due to the room downgrade. The young lady at the desk said she was not authorized to adjust charges. She called a manager who said she would be right there. Twenty minutes later when we asked if it would be much longer, the girl said the manager had an emergency and would not be able to help us before we checked out.
We left our number, expecting a call back that day. Receiving no followup we called the next day with no manager available. Three days later, while at work, I received a message from Mark, who introduced himself as regional operations manager with the Newport Hotel Group. I called him back a couple times that week and a few times the next with no return calls. I also responded to the feedback survey emailed after our stay, in which I requested a followup call. Nothing weeks later.

Fantastic location and every staff member we interacted with was super nice. The only thing that wasn’t the best was the bathroom. Really small room and the tub backed up badly when using the shower. Also, the fridge in the room was not very cold even though it was turned all the way up.

Staff was very friendly and hotel was great. Our six year old loved the games, afternoon cookies, and pool. We loved having a room by the pool so we could go back and forth to our room Easily.

We went through a colder weather, and we had so much fun on the amenities since we would only visit the beaches around.

The location was awesome. Our view out to the ocean was a glorious thing to wake up to each day. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was a level up from what you would expect. Shout out to the bakery that sent those ham and cheese and feta croissants over. The coffee was nice and bold. Easy to Uber everywhere nearby or jump on a train to Salem or Boston. We also like walking, so 2-3 mile walk to and from Gloucester was nice. There is a nearby sandy beach.

Tolle Lage in erster Reihe zum Meer (es trennt einen nur eine Straße). Alle Zimmer sind zum Meer hin ausgerichtet und haben einen großzügigen Balkon oder eine Terrasse mit schönen Outdoor-Möbeln. Auch innen sind die Zimmer sehr schön eingerichtet. Die Betten waren herrlich bequem und obwohl wir da sehr empfindlich sind, war es angenehm leise.

Der Pool und der sehr warme Whirlpool sind auch super. Auf dem Gelände gibt es viele schöne sitzmöglichkeiten und Outdoor spiele.

Wir durften deutlich früher einchecken und ein wenig später auschecken, was unser Leben mit Baby sehr viel entspannter gemacht hat für diese Zeit.

Wir hatten eine ganz tolle Zeit dort und wären gerne länger geblieben.

The pool, Jacuzzi, views, chairs on grass, by water and balcony were awesome! Breakfast was excellent, cookie hour sweet and staff amazing!. Room was clean and comfortable but bathroom a bit small and closets hard to get into by door. Overall great! I would stay again. Easy location to all around glocester area.

We enjoyed our stay at this very nice hotel, which reminded me of trips to Cape Ann when I was a kid 40-50 years ago. This hotel has minimal amenities besides a nice new ocean view pool. No biz center, restaurant, bar, gift shop, exercise room, etc.

We loved everything about this property! It’s beautiful! And there were so many lovely touches to make our stay even more personal and enjoyable. We loved the view from the dining room, the hammocks on the lawn, free bikes to borrow, dvds, books, a billiards table, a fire pit. And the room was clean, comfortable and pretty! The deck furniture was so inviting! We wished we could have stayed longer!

Always a great experience staying at the Ocean House- Gloucester. Beautiful location with nice amenities. Staff is always friendly, helpful and professional!
