A beautiful hotel with one fatal flaw – avoid the restaurant at all costs
Pros:

I truly wanted to love this hotel. And in many ways, I still do. It is, without question, one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is absolutely breathtaking—right in the heart of Paris, just steps away from the Eiffel Tower. You feel the magic of the city the moment you walk through the door.

The interior is elegant and thoughtfully designed. Every detail feels curated, and there is a genuine sense of style and comfort throughout. The spa and gym are both excellent—well-maintained, peaceful, and equipped with everything you could need. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and furnished with every convenience imaginable. We truly lacked nothing in terms of accommodation.

I must also mention the staff—they are incredibly welcoming, warm, and attentive. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they genuinely enhanced our stay. Even the tea selection was wonderful; it’s the little touches like this that make a hotel feel special.

So why only three stars?
Because none of that mattered the night we decided to dine in the hotel restaurant.

We were a large group of 16 people, celebrating a family birthday. It was meant to be a memorable evening. The service was grand, the dishes kept coming, and everything looked beautiful. But the next day, 13 out of 16 of us fell severely ill with food poisoning.

What makes this unforgivable is not just the illness itself—it was the hotel’s reaction. They showed zero accountability. No apology. No compensation. Not even a genuine expression of concern. Instead, they suggested we had simply “eaten too much.” For a hotel of this calibre and price point, that response is not just disappointing—it is insulting.

We paid a significant amount of money for that dinner. We expected professionalism, safety, and responsibility. Instead, our entire trip was overshadowed by sickness and exhaustion, and the hotel acted as though nothing had happened.

So here is my honest advice: Stay here. Enjoy the location, the spa, the beautiful rooms, and the lovely staff. But do not eat in the restaurant. You are far safer dining at a small, unassuming bistro anywhere else in Paris. The risk is simply not worth it.

A truly magnificent stay!
Pros:

I had the most wonderful stay at the Plaza Athénée. When I arrived early, Nicole at the front desk was so kind. She said they were working on my room and I could still check in early. She upgraded my room and walked me to the room to show me around. It was beautiful. She told me to look out the window and I had a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower. The breakfast every day was divine. I asked the concierge if there was any way I could get a ticket to the David Hockney exhibition that was ending the following day. Within seconds, she presented me with a ticket (it was sold out online) and charged it to my room. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to return!!!

Bad stay
Pros:

I stayed at the hotel from 16 Jan 2026 for 3 night at room 314 & room 318, I paid more than 8000€ for my room, I was expecting something special, it was very bad experience and never repeat it again and never recommend it to anyone. Someone enter my room with a key, and was not a hotel team or housekeeping, I report the issue to the reception, and no one was believing me, then someone who is Guest relation manager, I explain the issue to him, he was very pushy, disrespectful, when he checked the cameras, he didn't know who is that, and knew that i am truth, he didn't care at all about me as a guest, and was preparing a check-out for me if I dont like the hotel.
I didn't leave my passport and money at the saftey box BECAUSE SOMEONE THEY DONT KNOW HAVE A MASTER KEY.
I just want to thank Laurence Bloch, the only one who care about my stay.

This man is in wrong place, he is talking to me like he is paying the room for me, I will never forget how he was talking to me and my wife in front of our child. After what happened, I didn't leave our passports and money at the saftey box BECAUSE SOMEONE THEY DONT KNOW HAVE A MASTER KEY. I just want to thank Laurence Bloch, the only one who say sorry, she did her best to us. I was just need to hear it from the person who is his name Thomas, he thought I was saying that because I need free meal or free coffee. I didn't pay this amount to wait something free, I payed to have a good service and SAFTEY. In the breakfast room, we wait more than 30 minutes to have a seat, and many people came after us as non hotel guest and entering before us, very poor in management, even after we stay at the table, more than 30 minutes to serve the food. I was booking 3 nights, in my second night, they told me you need to change your room, and I changed it, and want to thank Ms Laurence again because after explaining the issue she upgraded us. Too much mistakes, too many basics hospitality mistakes. NEVER NEVER NEVER stay there with this price, many great options in Paris if you will pay this amount.

Deceptive Practices and Shockingly Poor Service
Pros:

I am writing this review while still staying at the hotel. I checked in yesterday and am here for five nights. Unfortunately, my experience so far has been shockingly poor.

I booked via Amex Centurion, which explicitly includes upgrade consideration subject to availability. At check-in, the front desk staff member was not only rude, but also frankly dishonest. I was told that although upgraded rooms were available, if they were to grant me an upgrade I would have to change rooms every single day. This explanation is absurd and strains credibility. It felt like a transparent attempt to avoid honoring a benefit rather than a genuine operational constraint.

We were then checked into a horribly dark room with miserable lighting and an overall oppressive feel.

When we returned to the front desk to request a better room, the so-called “solution” offered was an “upgrade” to a Deluxe Suite for an additional €1,600 per night. At that point, we had little choice. The original room was simply not livable.

After paying this extraordinary premium, we checked into the new room only to discover that major renovations are taking place directly outside the room. Plastic sheeting, dust, noise, and a general construction-site atmosphere. The shower also had extremely weak water pressure and a cheap, ineffective showerhead. This is unacceptable at any hotel, let alone one at this price point.

This is what €1,600 per night buys you here. I have attached photos of the view outside the room. It speaks for itself.

Charging guests a four-figure nightly supplement for a room facing active renovations is not just poor service, it borders on a scam.

This hotel is currently failing at the most basic elements of luxury hospitality:

• Honesty and transparency
• Respectful service
• Room quality
• Fair value
• Guest experience management

This has been, without exaggeration, one of the worst service experiences I have had at a five-star hotel anywhere in the world.

Avoid this room. Avoid accepting paid “upgrades” without seeing them first. And think very carefully before choosing this hotel if service, integrity, and basic comfort matter to you.

Utterly disappointing.

Magical Parisian Hotel
Pros:

Magical experience in Paris. Staff, including Thomas, Pierre, Mary, Louise, Ivona, Julie and others, were remarkably helpful and proactive. Location is so much fun in the heart of Champs-Elysee. Lots of activity and buzz all around. We loved the ice skating in the courtyard with Maxime, the lovely breakfasts, the in room dining staff, the wonderful helpful bellmen and concierges who helped us quickly navigate whatever we needed to get to. We will return!
