Nice, quaint. Had trouble with the payment that was expected onsite. This was a Hotels.com miscommunication as it went against local practices of taking a deposit prior to arrival. Sorted it with the owner onsite.
Beautiful hotel located just 5-10 minute walk from Playa Tamarindo. Beautiful setting, very friendly staff. Staff doesn't speak much English, so brush up on a few key Spanish phrases and you'll be just fine. Breakfast was amazing - cooked from scratch, anything you'd like. I preferred the traditional "Tico" breakfast of rice/beans, fried plantains, sausage, cheese, and mayonnaise.
The room was basic, but comfortable. Not luxury by any means, but the attention to detail was appreciated. Towels folded into "swans" on the beds, toiled paper folded into flowers, etc.
Within walking distance of all Tamarindo has to offer. There is a lovely pool - we didn't use it because we were so busy surfing, but great all the same. Would definitely stay here again.
légère déception a notre arrivée. Emplacement malpropre et mal entretenu. Piscine pas nettoyé. ù
Nice place. Quieter than the accomadations on the main road. Very cute decor and clean. Tamarindo is a loud town so bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.
We stayed in room 1, it was okay with a small awkward bathroom and a bit too noisy. We were only there for two nights and didn't get a chance to try the restaurant. We enjoyed our stay, had fun in the pool and breakfast was good.
Hôtel correct un peu à l'écart du centre-ville et donc du bruit, petit-déjeuner à l'extérieur très appréciable.
It's really a hostel with private rooms. The staff was nice but the facilities are sub Par. The mattress, the pillows etc are all "pequeño mundo" style, cheap... The ambiance is that of a hostel, lots of kids partying, etc. If I were on spring break and needed just a place to crash, maybe it's OK. I was staying the night in Tamarindo for business. Breakfast was served late and you gave to grab your own utensils out of a giant tub where they are all mixed. They served powdered OJ... For $50/nt I would've expected more. Not impressed.
7 minute walk to the beach, near good bars and restaurants
hotel près de tout. chambres rustiques . ok pour le prix. Déjeuners bien. Piscine passable.
The hotel is very pleasent. Well decorated room. Breakfast included is a plus. Not very central though.
Good value, good location, friendly and hardworking staff, well-kept property. Rooms a bit small and dark. Excellent breakfast included.
We stayed in the private villa at the hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was awesome! The staff was really friendly and they allowed us to bring our dog. The Italian restaurant at the front of the hotel is really delicious too! It's a very short walk to the beach and some really good restaurants. We also saw the Howler monkeys in the tree next to the hotel :)
Stay: March - 11 nights
Pros: Free breakfast, free wireless, nice pool, a nice outside area to eat and hang out, great location near downtown Tamarindo with easy/fast access to food, grocery store, and other places. They also have a bar/restaurant located right on the premises (closed on Mondays) which is pretty good.
Cons: The room we were given had the following problems: 1. Most of the electrical outlets did not work, 2. The ceiling fan was broken and wouldn't work, and although we were given a floor fan, it didn't do anything to help with the heat or circulation of the hot air in the room, 3. The air conditioner SUCKED. It was a floor standing model that just didn't cool off the room whatsoever -- and we're talking a TINY room that was about 12'x8' or something. We just happened to be there during one of the hottest and most humid times they've had, so we got the shaft on this one. It's too bad, since the first night we stayed there we were given a different room that actually had a working ceiling fan and a working air conditioner, but then we were moved to a different room after that one night because they needed to give it to someone else instead of us.
The staff was very helpful, and although almost none of them spoke English very well, it was fairly easy to communicate our basic needs. The owner of the place was nice enough, but really didn't seem to care very much whether we were there or not.
Anyway, my two cents.
Very friendly staff. Accommodation was fine. Very quaint spot. We would stay there again
We booked last minute and they were very accommodating. The owner was nice and charming and helped us check in pretty late. He also provided suggestions about where to go out. We were close the everything and felt totally safe walking down to the city center. The breakfast was good and we made a nice iguana friend. Overall I think we'd go back if we had the chance.
This place is down a little back road off the loud main street. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable! We loved walking back from the beach from surfing for a few hours, rinsing off and relaxing in the pool. There is a small bar to get drinks to help with the relaxation. They play loud music during the day, but it was turned off @ about 8pm and it was very quiet at night. Beds were very comfortable and A/C was so nice to have in the humid night. Oh and when eating there free breakfast wait to see the HUGE iguanas!
We got fooled by the rating on expedia and booked this hotel with expedia agent, we should have understood right away when expedia charged us for all other hotels and asked us to pay for this one on site.
This is a hostel with rooms being advertised at the end of street for $20. Our "deluxe"room as the owner called it was a 9x9 room with 3 beds in it. The bathroom was a foot and half wide. The sheets dirty, toilet leaking, sink and toilet seat dirty, the place had a weird stink. It was almost suffocating and dark in that small space. We had to close the curtain otherwise anyone outside could look into your room.
The lady at check in did not speak english and once we were in the room we had no other recourse. We complained to the owner when he got in but he told us that he had given us his deluxe room. He agreed that he had converted a hostel into a hotel but it still is very much a hostel. Definitely not worth what expedia charged us for the room.
Good location, friendly staff, especially Marue. Good value, would prefer not to have the beat music from their pagoda wake me up by 7am.
