Great breakfast. Everything was very clean. Friendly staff. Cello player was amazing! A very unexpected special treat.
Beautifully decorated, very warm and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was friendly.
Self Parking was a bit expensive though. $15 daily would have been better. Everywhere we went, we had to pay to park, but I thought $30 a day was a bit much.
Breakfast good. Except for the frozen egg patties. Scrambled eggs were much better. Grits, biscuits and gravy were my favorite.
I do wish the room had a microwave for my leftovers.
Parking and location
The Apple / Google Pay wouldn’t work.
I picked The Ansonborough for the location and cost. It did not disappoint. All of the employees were very friendly. Our room was huge, clean and comfortable. Parking is conveniently located across the street. We enjoyed eating lunch, that we purchased across the street at Harris Teeter, on rooftop one day. The breakfast offerings are small, but delicious. It changed a little each day which was nice. Honestly, I prefer the way The Ansonborough does breakfast with fewer, high-quality items, then the chain hotels offerings of a greater variety, but lower quality. One complaint about breakfast, please add jelly to the offerings. I would have loved some jelly on my toast. If I should ever find myself back in Charleston, I would definitely stay here again.
Perfect location in the historic district. Close to lots of restaurants, bars and grocery. Beautifully decorated! Nice little breakfast in the morning.
Hotel bar was not open due to a sick bartender.
I like the historical feel of the hotel. It was very quaint with a beautiful lobby and bar area.
I loved everything and would definitely stay there again
We loved everything about The Ansonborough! Our room was lovely, spacious, well-appointed and had lots of extras: a small table with cozy chairs, a comfy couch great for watching TV, and a working gas fireplace to name a few. The lobby and breakfast area were beautiful; the staff were all friendly as well us helpful. Everything felt luxurious, but it was also affordable. We will definitely stay here again.
The room was beautiful and very comfortable.
The breakfast didn’t seem to match the quality of the hotel.
Hotel was just okay was a former cigar factory. I don’t know if that’s why the room had a strange smell upon checkin or if it was cleaning materials. Cold water in bath faucet did not work also. The hotel is on the border of a dockside industrial area which is a bit sketchy and a few blocks from stores and restaurants on market street. The staff was very friendly and helpful even gave us a complimentary room upgrade after requesting upon checkin.
It was a great stay and close to downtown restaurant
35 dollar parking
I had the absolute best stay at The Ansonborough for New Year’s. Even as a local, this felt like a true getaway. The room was incredibly comfortable, cozy, and spacious, everything you want when you’re downtown and want to relax at the end of the day. The atmosphere was welcoming and thoughtfully done, and the entire experience just felt easy and special. I enjoyed my stay so much that I honestly won’t stay anywhere else when coming downtown again. Highly recommend to locals and visitors alike.
Breakfast was good and made each day
No box spring for bed
Fantastic stay at The Ansonborough! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of historic Charleston and walkable to everything. The staff was warm, attentive, and truly made us feel welcome from start to finish. The hotel itself is charming, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, blending historic character with modern amenities. Spacious rooms and a great overall experience. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
