The rooms are pretty and large. The location is fine
The breakfast is not a breakfast. What little they provided was always empty. Our room was over the bar and it was VERY loud. I could hear the person next to me television and them talking.
Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff!
Breakfast was very limited in quantity and variety.
We loved our 5-day stay here. Fabulous location walking distance to all the restaurants, nightlife, shopping, Waterfront Park. Chose it because of proximity to Waterfront Park ferry to Daniel Island, but also has convenient freeway access to drive to island. Reasonably priced self-parking. Nice breakfast included. Couldn’t have enjoyed it more!
Location is good. Pricing is high compared to similar. It bills itself as a boutique hotel, but I have traveled extensively both domestically and internationally, and this doesn't qualify as a boutique hotel. The breakfast staff was the highlight of our experience. They were friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. I wish I could say the same of some of the front desk and the person who appeared to be the daytime or desk manager. The breakfast food itself left a lot to be desired.
Great hotel in old Charleston area. The room was spacious and very inviting. Great rooftop terrace to relax on after day of walking. Negative- seating options for breakfast not very user friendly
A beautiful room, and a wonderful staff
Stayed at The Ansonborough for an anniversary trip. It was a great location for the things we wanted to do downtown. It was a short walk for everywhere we wanted to go, and the price was very appealing compared to other downtown hotels. We had a couple small issues that were quickly fixed.
The rooftop terrace was nice for relaxing at the end of the night, and a few times we were the only people there.
Would stay here again if we make another trip to Charleston.
A beautiful hotel close to the french and river districts. It's easily walk-able but I do caution the uneven stone and brick roads. This was a very short stay, but. would return. If nighttime car noise is an issue for you, ask for a room away from the main road.
We had a fantastic stay at The Ansonborough, and the property itself is beautiful, but it was the team—specifically the General Manager, Jennifer—who truly made our visit memorable.
My partner and I were there celebrating his birthday, and Jennifer went out of her way to make him feel special. It’s clear she loves what she does; she is a massive asset to this hotel and a master of hospitality. While we ran into a few minor hiccups during our stay, she addressed every single one of them immediately and to our full satisfaction. Her warmth and kindness really set the tone for the entire experience.
What really touched us, though, was the kindness the team showed regarding our pup, Henry. He was supposed to join us for his last vacation, but unfortunately, he didn’t make the trip. Arriving to a thoughtful toast in his honor was an incredible gesture that meant the world to us after a very difficult week. That level of empathy is so rare these days.
The suite was comfortable and has a great aesthetic, though a small tweak could make it even better—specifically adding a dresser for those of us who like to unpack.
Overall, we left feeling genuinely welcomed and cared for. If you’re looking for a place where the staff actually remembers your name and treats you like a guest in their home, this is the place. These are your people.
We liked the proximity to the city market and all of the restaurants in the area. Also right across the street was a grocery store for snacks. The wooden beams on the interior were quite stunning and were reminiscent of the industrial age over 100 years ago. There is self parking on the premises and across the street.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and large. The staff are friendly and helpful. I liked the location a lot and it was convenient to many great Charleston venues.
Our stay at the Ansonborough was great! The location was very convenient even if not right in the middle of everything. Not the most pretty section of the city given there is a more industrial area and big empty parking lot right behind the building. It was a quick walk to King St during the day and a similar quick walk down along East Bay Street to many of the most popular restaurants and bars in the city. Our room was very large and well appointed. The only thing I would change about our room was the location. We were directly outside the lobby and front desk and during the day we could hear the lobby activity, which was unusual and a little inconvenient. The bar is very small but very nice and the rooftop patio was a nice spot to sit and relax. The staff was excellent and very helpful.
I had zero expectations of this city, and my only requirement was that the city was walkable. It is definitely walkable and I dont think I would even want to try driving. People drive fast and the sidewalks are kind of small. There are a plethora of fun shops and food options. The architecture throughout the entire city is beautiful and the rich history of the city is interesting. The churches and graveyards are tourable if the gates are open and are a must see! The provost dungeon was a neat and interesting tour. Palmetto Carriage Works (The Big Red Barn tours) is a family owned horse-carriage tour company (family owned) and was my favorite part of my stay.
Geat atmosphere, lots of spaces to use including a bar in the evenings. Staff were wonderful
Breakfast area was cramped and offerings a little sparse.
We got upgraded and it was so nice! Appreciated that upgrade so much as the suite was beautiful
