I like the area and the neighborhood plus the nicest restaurants with delicious foods.
Broken bathroom fixtures and tables they need a revamp and refresh of the facility and furnishings
I was here for 3 nights, 2 prior to gorillas, 1 after. 1st room was ground floor, it was clean and sufficient. I did notice that people were able to walk on the sidewalk past my room, this happened only 1 time. 2nd room was 1 floor up and had a balcony which I liked better. The breakfast was great, lots of choices, eggs, fruit, cereals, juices, breads. Staff very kind, friendly and will to help. All booked thru CaptureAfricaTours.
Nice hotel for an overnight stay the restaurant had many options.
I had an issue with my booking and needed to cancel. I reached out to them starting the day after I made the booking (almost 2 months before my reservation date) and kept reaching out to them and did not receive a response. Finally, just over a week before my reservation date, I tried to reach out to them via 4 different methods/platforms and finally got a response. They assured me they would cancel the reservation and there would be no penalty. They had billed my credit card when I made the initial reservation and have still not refunded my payment almost 3 weeks later. No response to my latest emails. Be careful booking with this company, they also have hotels in other cities.
The hotel is in a very nice location, it’s calm and safe surroundings to walk around. Rooms are big and spacious. Wifi is strong. Roof top is beautiful with night dinner, view is gorgeous. The food is fantastic as well. Staff are friendly and helpful. Also if you need a fantastic massage ask the receptionist, hotel doesn’t have massage but there is a 5 min walk to ‘Nicky Spa’ that is ohhh maaaa fantastic massage.
Urban by CityBlue in Kigali was a great stay! It is centrally located in a very walkable and safe area of Kigali. It is in close proximity to great restaurants and coffee shops as well as close enough to the downtown area to get there easily but far enough away to be quiet. Yet, it also has its own excellent restaurant with amazing views of the city. The staff was excellent and extremely responsive. The room was cleaned exquisitely each day, the water was powerful and hot, room service prompt, and the breakfast good.
Very clean rooms. You have to turn on the hot water in the bathroom but it heats up very quickly. check in was very quick and easy.
Staff very friendly.
The restaurant on the roof of the hotel is wonderful. Excellent food and drink and well priced.
The hotel location is ideal for a relaxing stay
One thing I loved in this hotel is the restaurant meals, thanks to the philipino chef for preparing some of the best dishes I have ever tasted.
If you visit this hotel, try their dishes and thank me later....
This is an excellent hotel, with well-on-the-ball staff. It seems to receive the patronage of some high-society Kigali people.
The restaurant serves African food (as can be expected), sushi (unexpectedly good, by a Philippino chef), as well as Italian dishes. The room is scantly lit but offers a great view over the city, and service can show a few blunders, such as bringing the main dish before the starters.
The decoration (see photo) includes paintings of African animals, fitting well in this hotel. However, we are not sure if the Buddha, albeit magnificent, is at the right place in the hall.
The room was quite dark. It contained an ironing board but no iron.
The rather remarkable thing is the general behaviour of the staff, with whom, in a few days, a good relationship can be developed, and who can talk of quite a lot of things in an interesting way.
I really enjoyed staying here with all the comforts after weeks in small towns and days of hiking trails in national parks. Will always remember this place!
I had stay at this hotel for few day, the hotel is great, city is wonderful, people are amazing, helpful, and so friendly, I loved the food there, room is very nice and clean, staff are so professional, everyone is smiling and hurry to help you all the time.
I do recommend this hotel for all travellers. And I do advise that you should visit Rwanda.
When I arrived my first room was downstairs on the 1st floor. It felt like I was in a dungeon. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, it felt closed in somehow. But, as soon as I mentioned my dissatisfaction w the room I was moved right away to a room on the 3rd floor. The rooms are spacious. Housekeeping is fantastic. The bathroom is humongous, and the staff’s incredible! One complaint is that carpet in both rooms needs to be changed. I wore shoes the whole time because I didn’t want to walk on it.
This is simply the best hotel in its category in Kigali. Modern, very clean, massive rooms, all facilities and in a good location.
I highly recommend this hotel and do not even bother looking for another place to stay. Rooftop restaurant has amazing views and offers fantastic range of top dishes and wines. Enjoy!
It was a good stay
It was a good short stay
Urban by CityBlue, Kigali, is located near the city centre. The room is large and the bed can fit 2-3 people. Daily room service is provided. The hotel staffs were very friendly. The hotel restaurant has a lot of food options to offer.
The elevator was broken the entire time.
Good location close to the city. Very polite and welcoming staff. Good sized rooms and a pleasant rooftop restaurant.
Review
The Urban by City Blue is a very nice boutique hotel conveniently located in a quiet area near city centre. Consistent with other reviews, I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very nice with a diverse menu; all reasonably priced. My room was large and spotlessly clean (although the carpet is due for replacement). Overall, the hotel presents good value.
There were a few items that taken alone would have been unremarkable, but multiple issues start to add up and the following are worth mention. The lift is out of order (and appears to have been so for some time); the lounge was closed for most of my stay; the internet (wifi in my room) was unstable (and unusable for last 2-days and f my stay); the air conditioning in my room was very poor; and, only 2-channels on my TV were working (although I wasn’t here to watch TV).
The hotel does offer airport shuttle service. It is good, but not free. Local taxi may be cheaper.
