Decent pub with rooms and good food.
Pros:

This is a lovely pub with good food in the evenings, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. The beers and drinks were good and we had a high quality evening meal.

The rooms are clean and spacious, with good quality towels and linens.

The cooked breakfast in the morning was good.

Cons:

The bed in room 3 was very uncomfortable - you could feel the springs through the mattress. This needs to be replaced, or a decent topper put on.

Comfortable stay, good location.
Pros:

Good location, comfortable.

Cons:

Breakfast choice was poor even at 8am! Not enough staff in the bar and serving food in the evening. Poor chap virtually on his own and it was busy.

Comfortable and clean but small issues marred our stay.
Pros:

The position is great and the central courtyard a real sun trap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean.

Cons:

Our room was dark with no outlook except a hedge. It is an old building so we understand the constraints but we were disappointed. Some areas of the room need updating and the bath/shower area in particular. The remote control for the TV was hard to activate. Small things in themselves but they make a difference.

Pros:

The shower was good.

Cons:

The walls in the dining room were depressingly black, but the old photos were interesting.
The self service breakfast was uninspiring.
Staff were not really engaging.

We stayed at a very pleasant hotel that I know very well having used it many times over the years. It is in an excellent
Pros:

Location, car charging point,

Cons:

The car charging point is in a difficult to park location . Not for the first time, a non charging taxi was parked in the space and we had to ask for it to move.
The bathroom needs a deep clean. Having lived in this area I know there is a problem with hard water, but the toilet looked like the lime scale had been allowed to build up - not pleasant. The carpet had not been properly vacuumed around the bed, there were biscuit crumbs on the floor.
The breakfast is expensive - we actually ate at a nearby alternative which was much more reasonably priced.
However, overall none of this was so bad that we felt a need to complain.

Pros:

Serving staff were very nice.

Cons:

Annoyed we had a freestanding bath with a shower attachment in the en-suite of our room which wasn’t indicated in the room summary 😫, it just needs a decent shower! And a window for ventilation.
