Great location and atmosphere but service needs to improve - value for money not where expected
Pros:

Great location close to town but far form any unwanted late night noise. Right on the beach with beautiful and peaceful views (beach room, Mandarina Restaurant).
Room and bathroom spacious and comfortable, cleaned daily.

Cons:

While I cannot give less than an 8 for the proximity to the beautiful Holbox shores and the location (the sea has a way to make you feel less attached to problems), I want to stress that the value for money was nowhere near what I expected. This comment comes from years of travelling around Asia and Europe in “similar” islands and hotel venues.

The property has potential and it’s probably often fully booked in high season, however they really need to revisit their service.

- Joseph, the Californian waiter (and possibly a couple of the ladies at Luuma), was absolutely fantastic and should find an employer that matches his skills and energy
- everyone else: either confused, extremely slow or seemingly at their first experience in a beach bar. This would not be a problem if the cost of the stay wasn’t already quite high for what they offer. They don’t talk to each other and after hundreds of dollars spent on drinks and food daily they would ask you your room name even 5 times per service
- tips are marked on bills at 15% and above (5% and above if you pay by card) and waiters would make you feel like you need to pay them consistently basically every time they bring you something. You cannot leave a tap open in the afternoon or in general even if you stay for a week as they need to get their tips before they leave or change service (never seen this before). Expecting tips at all times is definitely not the best behaviour (Cancun area and American Tourism probably make this more acceptable/standard) particularly when there’s a lack of competence to start with
- asked once to have some water delivered to the sunbeds at 10.30am and was told that they would not do it due to timing of service (then after stressing again the ask was for a bottle of water they gave it to us)
- 6 breakfasts: 4 delivered after 45 minutes of wait (for some eggs and oatmeal - is this normal?

BEAUTIFUL property
Pros:

Loved the whole vibe of this property. Staff welcomed us & showed us all around property. Beach was just gorgeous, perfect location for town & still lovely & quiet. Yoga amazing every day & the bike ride tour super. Room was beautiful & comfortable, had our own gate into pool (Nopal) & veranda. Beds AMAZINGLY comfortable.

Cons:

our room was very close to reception so a little busy at times & at 7am every day the garedn staff would be outside which was a little noisy. Breakfast was included, however there were so many staff (all lovely) but no direction from anyone, so it was always entertaining how chaotic it was. Coffee was hard thing to get right at the property; which baffles me!

Perfect tropical beach getaway

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer mit einem wunderschönem Meerblick. Sehr schöne Zimmer und traumhafte Anlage. Wir haben die Zeit im Hotel sehr genossen.

Schönes Hotel mit versteckten Mängeln
Pros:

Schöne Anlage, Pool und Strandzugang sehr gepflegt

Cons:

Personal beim Frühstück überfordert, Zimmer klein und dunkel, Frühstück klein und wenig inkludiert, Strand mit Sargassum (generelles Problem auf Holbox - aber trägt nicht positiv zum Hotel bei)

Wife and I were celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary and Casa Las Tortugas lived up to it's sterling reputation that we have been reading. We stayed in the Tucan room which is on the ground floor with walking access to beach. The staff is great and very friendly. We went in Sept 2025 which is the low season with limited staff but we still received great service. The is food is fresh and excellent. Every meal was an experience. We loved the afternoon activities...Salsa Lesson, writing class and painting classes. We did booked a spa session which was very freshing. They dont have the best spa facilities though.

Nice relaxing at Tortugas
Pros:

This is an incredible great hotel. Well located, beautiful room, delicious breakfast and grill restaurant, great staff and excellent activities organised by the hotel (salsa dancing, nature cycling tour, yoga lessons, Mezcal tasting) which were given by excellent and enthusiastic people. Great to end our 3 week trip here!
