Where do I even start. The lobby reals of rotten vegetables and illicit substances. The toilet seat was yellow so I used lysol wipes on it and they came back dark brown. The floors are sticky. The tub has black and brown marks all over the bottom that will not come out. The beds have 2x6 bed frames. A dump doesn’t even begin to describe this place. 0/5 stars
It was horrible the workers were so rude and aggressive and the yelled at me for asking were is the pool and the floor was soooooo old and the smelled like eggs and just don’t wasn’t your money here this is just nasty
When I arrived they didn’t find my reservation, room with dirty carpet, bedding. One day I return and found my room opened. At the check out card reader not working to return my deposit, had to receive cash, they were asking me my cc number and PIN to return it later that for security reasons I refuse to provide.
I didn’t like the management attitude
I never even went in hotel looked really bad
Old and very bad mattress; old and run down paint, wall, window, …
Many people (not guest) sitting in lobby; office looks bad and disorganized
Hallway not clean with plywood for stairs,…
good
Sadly, I had to stay here this past week. A couple of the staff were very nice, and as helpful as they could be. BUT.... The smell in the room is only exceeded by the smell in the hall. Oh, and don't forget all the decorative snot balls about the room and bathroom. There is a welcoming committee as you enter, asking for money, and whats in the bag?
I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. One star, only because I can't do half of one! Plan ahead, or sleep in your vehicle at the Safeway parking lot!
It looks OK from the outside, but inside, it is a different story! The staff were rude and the amenities in the pool did not work. While checking in, 2 people entered -one with a knife attempting to kill the other. The front door was damaged in this process. The rooms are not in good repair - door frames broken and furniture smashed. I was told that this was the last hotel room available in Thompson and it would take at least that to get us back!
We checked in to attend a friend's young son's birthday pool party around 3:30 p.m. Immediately several things came to mind. First our neighbours were having a drunken yelling match, second the chairs were cracked and looked like they came over on the Ark. The carpet was dirty and so old, it too must have arrived on the Ark.
Bad enough and then we went to the pool. The water was cold, the hot tub while filled with what can charitably be called water was not operating and a kiddies pool sat empty with huge rust stains on the liner. The walls had large dark stains in several places and the emergency out door exit was covered in ice, not frost, ice. While I did not try to open the alarmed door, I have serious doubts that it would open if needed.
Fast forward 2 hours. My young son and I go down the hall to go to the parking lot. I heard no fewer than 4 loud drunken arguments through the doors including one which featured a woman screaming that she was being hit. I informed the desk on my way out. I also told the desk clerk that the people in the room next to ours continued to yell and scream. I told the clerk that I wanted a different room. I was promised one.
An hour later my son and I returned. The yelling next door continued unabated. During my absence, my wife had spoken to the front desk clerk about this who told her that hotel security couldn't do anything about it. My wife suggested contacting the RCMP which apparently they did. The clerk also informed my wife that they only room they had for us to move into was one with a single bed. Fortunately by now our e=neighbours had been removed or passed out.
When I went to check out I asked the clerk, a woman I had seen on past stays where the owner could be contacted. She told me he lived down south and could not be contacted. I asked her if there was any plans in the works to renovate this once nice hotel and she informed me that the short answer was no..
Having spent nearly 10 minutes waiting to check out and to speak to the clerk we proceeded on to the Grapes Restaurant for which we had a coupon from the hotel for a complimentary (minus beverages) breakfast until 11:00 a.m. I arrived at 11:02 and was informed by first the waitress and then the manager that breakfast was over.
I asked that the manager speak to the hotel clerk about this as the hotel PAYS THE RESTAURANT for the meals but n spite of her best efforts, I was not provided with a breakfast after all the bull S*&t I had gone through. I asked to speak to the owner of the Grapes Restaurant and was informed that he was in a large Asian country and that was that.
I can not suggest strongly enough that no one ever venture into this nightmare of an establishment.
The staff is poorly trained, the hotel dark, dingy dirty and in an advanced stage of disrepair with an absentee landlord who obviously has decided to simply collect as much cash as he can before the place is closed by the health department. The entrance both outside and in the foyer can not see me to be cleared of intoxicated individuals making going in quite intimidating for my 5 year old son. WHAT A DUMP!!!!
I booked hotel online and regretted it. The are vagrants all over the hotel, the bed was old and not comfortable. There was black hair in the bathroom that creeped me out. There were loud people outside my window for most of the night. Since my company paid for my room, I left and stayed at a different hotel out of pocket. I did not feel safe there
Walking in the hotel is intimidating and if we had not already had reservations at a busy time of year we would have walked away. Many homeless (or homeless looking) people standing right at the front entrance smoking under the "no smoking" sign. Front desk apologized, but the situation did not change that night or the following morning when we left. Friendly staff helpful, but cannot make up for the surroundings. Rooms clean-ish but run down and old. Air conditioning worked fine, however. Loud stamping and voiced in the hall and upstairs.
Traveled to Thompson for business, company booked the rooms. The hotel smelled like stale alcohol and something indescribable. Don't think there has been any updates in years. Very loud at night with people fighting outside. It may have been a nice place once but now it isn't fit for anyone to stay in. We checked in about midnight and checked out the next morning. Do not recommend this hotel.
Just recently my husband, son and I stayed at the Burntwood Hotel. I have family who previously stayed at this hotel approximately 4 years ago and found it cheap and ok to stay. We were booked for three nights. The first two nights were not too bad. There was one fight that took place outside at the entrance during the evening. I found the place to be exceptionally loud at night. You could hear people walking down the hall and entering their rooms very clearly. Several times I awoke thinking someone was in my room. The bed sheets did not look to be changed, they look as if they were remade. The hot tub was not working, the pool was not the greatest. Looks as though it needed the walls of the pool to be scrubbed. The slide looked rusted, and caused a few scrapes while going down. The meals at Grapes Restaurant was excellent. I will add that the staff at the hotel and the restaurant were very polite. The third night that we were to stay, I crawled into bed in the late evening, and I was about to place the pillow back and I saw a large bug, which turned out to being a bed bug. We had only found the one bug, but unsure of how many more and if any were in our bags etc. They refund us for that one night and we left. We would not stay at my families residence or another hotel in case of spreading this/these bugs/eggs. We spent the next ten hours driving home.
The price was cheep but not at all worth it. The place has gon down hill. the beds I suspect are original and on our third night we found a bed bug. We were refunded for the night and found another hotel.
After being on the train twelve hours, my business partner and I were excited to learn upon checking in, there was a Grapes restaurant in the Burntwood Hotel we're scheduled to stay at for the next 7 nights and 7 days! :) after we got into our room, we called the front desk because we couldn't get the tv to turn on. The General manager himself arrived and accused us of sitting on the remote control? :/ then once he got it turned on it was at almost MAX volume or at LEAST +80% volume! (*I dont think my ears will recover and are still ringing*) I kindly suggested that perhaps his chamber maids check the televisions for appropriate volume levels in advance of guests checking in and he had no comment to share! Before he left, I kindly requested more hangers for my business partner's and my attire. I asked if he wanted me to follow him, he plainly replied no because he didn't even know where to begin looking for more hangers! :/ and it's currently nearly eleven pm! And he has yet to make an appearance with our hangers! So then we ventured to the restaurant: I ordered a french onion soup (*there was none*) I wound up with whatever the buffet had to offer for choices of soup. Chicken rice SUPER salty but nice and hot. The caesar salad was the only thing good on the menu, it was amazing, however when you're starving you can not be very picky. I was famished, so I splurged and opted for the sirloin steak well done, w/ veggies and stuffed potato; everything was disgusting! And considering it had allegedly just been cooked, I don't understand how everything was nearly ice cold, but...in order for me to describe the meat, picture a steak cooked to a dry charcoal crisp on the outside and bloody in the centre, the "stuffed" potato had zero "stuff" stuffed, and the only thing I found "stuffed" was some cheese which was leaking out the ends of the spud which was only sliced in half. The rooms - well I found one new white facecloth to wash my face with before retiring for the night! *this happened only after going through all of the other four badly soiled face cloths in the entire room. I asked the front desk and she went to the chamber maids room to not be able to find a single clean facecloth for me!! :( my business associate ventured outside to go have a smoke and was nearly accosted, was verbally abused and was told she was fat! And while she quickly finished she had the pleasantry of being in earshot of a couple preteen girls' conversation discussion giving her boyfriend "a blow job and gaging" as well as assaulting other females!
This was only Our first night and was all within about four hours, I want to curl up into a fetal position, rock myself and cry!
I don't dare check out the pool!
I hesitate to say I look forward to what's in store for day number two!

It was a fairly comfy spot but not the most up to date or kept up hotel around. It seems to be in a fairly rough area but at least it was near the Tim Hortons and Canadian tire where I needed to pick up some travel equipment.
Stayed for two nights early Sept. Didn't know where to stay, so stayed here. Alright, but not great. Still smell the smoke throughout the building, some strange consistent knocking noise from somewhere. Somebody tried to get into our room twice the second night, a little upsetting. Seems like it was a nice place at one time and could be again, but needs a major overhaul. Oh yeah, hot tub didn't work either.
Felt violated in housekeeping packing all my stuff in a see through garbage bag and checking someone else in my room without them calling me first...there was a mix up in my check out...but I think they should have called...we leave them our contact number for a reason. ..also ...pooor poor service in grapes restaurant. ..the one waitress or cook set preferences on who they decide to serve first...never staying there again. ..not to mention they never vacuum the place....seen a cigarette butt on the stairs for the 4 days I was there.
We agonised for weeks trying to decide where to spend out night in Thompson and ended up chooing the Burntwood ... our arrival day started with a lost reservation which meant they were not expecting us, fortunately they still had a vacant room or we would have been in the street! The hotel itself is fine - nothing fancy - but it did the job. TBH there is not much choice in Thompson so it was ok.
