El Nido Beach Hotel

I booked that hotel by mistake it shows as 1*, I meant to book a 4* one. I could not cancel online as it was not reimbursable. I paid USD 1,000 for 8 days. When I arrived, I requested to speak with a supervisor and no-one was available. The ladies at the reception kept going into an office and coming out repeating that supervisor's would tell me the same thing "no reimbursement". While waiting, I went to the breakfast area to use the Bathroom. The place was filthy, the breakfast area was filthy, flies were all over the poor quality food. The bathroom was filthy with no toilet paper. A lady told me that the manager was not in the office and off sick. So, I had no other option but staying. The bathroom was filthy, the room was dark, there was an old TV with only local channels. People passing in front of the room, so the dark curtains have to be left closed for privacy, blocking the view. The day after, I asked for the supervisor, who was not welcoming, I explained to him my mistake and asked for consideration of reimbursement, he refused. After a long discussion, he offer another room on the second floor, he dad that "it was an upgrade", I agreed, rather than loosing my money. So, that room was noisy, with a newer TV but still only local channels, the air conditioner did not work, it was always at 26 degrees even if I adjusted it to a lower temperature. The bathroom was a bit better but still filthy with mold on the corners.

Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly by the receptionist. After checking in, we went to our room, but as soon as we opened the door, we were met with a very unpleasant smell.

We returned to the reception to report this. The attitude there became noticeably less friendly. Someone from the technical staff was sent to the room, sprayed some air freshener, and then left. Apparently, that was considered the solution.

The bathroom was also in poor condition and clearly not properly cleaned. There was black mold present, which we found completely unacceptable. We actually wanted to leave, but there was no alternative accommodation available. To avoid further confrontation, we decided to stay.

During the last few days, my travel companion developed red bumps on her body. After checking the bed, we noticed that the pillows and mattress were very dirty. A visit to the doctor confirmed that the bites were caused by bed bugs. With ointment, the situation has improved, but this should never have happened.

We understand that this is not a five-star hotel, but at the very least, you expect a room to be clean and hygienic.

We strongly advise against booking this hotel, especially if you care about your health and hygiene.

Bathroom did not drain water away quickly when showering. Shower head spray is very weak. No enough hooks to hang towels or clothing in bathroom.

No house cleaning so sand everywhere throughout the Very small rooms. Would be handy to have a feet cleaning bucket before you entered the rooms
Generally lacking in all the essentials and would not go back to this location

Äldre rum, ingen ventilation eller ljudisolering i badrum. Frukosten var enkel, inget riktigt kaffe.

Bathroom quite old

The sink water is black couldn't use the sink at all. Its noisy at all hours. Tiny little bugs. Breakfast was limited.
