Staff was kind and helpful, location was convenient for us, close by car to tourist attractions we were visiting.
Food not good for us - either typically fatty English breakfast or sweets. No healthy options. Rooms were quite clean but common areas, especially the dining ones were super dirty.
Decent bar and restaurant, ample parking.
Basic things in room missing, towels, pillows and bedside table. Breakfast hours very restricted.
The size of room and price
Tv didn't work
Clean room, hot shower
Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed and all facilities we needed. Well located for our needs. Good base for exploring local towns and villages. Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Decent food in attached pub.
Room has a slight musty smell when entering. Opened windows to let in air.
View from window poor. Overlooked bin storage area.
Location is convenient, good parking. Price.
The booking.com map location was in the wrong place! Also the hotel is actually called ' The darrington' which confused us as the name on booking.com is different. The shower did not get warm - at least it was in a heat wave so it wasn't a big problem. The rooms were a bit stale feeling.
Decor of the rooms
Some paint coming off bottom of the bath and only 1 large towel between two of us.
Hotel entrance wasn’t clear, ended walking though the busy pub with clothes and bags before someone told us where hotel reception was.
Easy access from A1(M)
Clean and comfortable
No air-conditioning or fan
Bathroom required some maintenance
Was in a good location, food lovely and hot and very nice
There was a dirty mark on our throw and we had to ask for toilet rolls as non in the room , but were given some when we asked
Not a lot
Public rooms tired. Bedrooms very tired. Bathroom, peeling paint on ceiling above shower, black mould on silicone round bath and behind taps
Very clean friendly staff
Nothing to report
Staff were helpful & friendly, rooms were clean and well presented, parking is great with lots of space, location great and no issues with road noise from A1 as the rooms are tucked away at the rear.
We booked 3 x rooms over 2 nights, Unfortunately, due to an electrical issue we were unable to eat in the pub itself, obviously completely out of their control, and we were contacted prior to arrival to ask if we wanted to have a refund and book an alternative, but we decided to keep the booking, hoping it may get resolved, I believe this was repaired on our 2nd day, we attended in the middle of a heat wave, 30+ degrees.. and inside the pub was very hot, while playing pool I noticed the radiator was stuck on full.. also inside the rooms we couldn't get any of the air con wall mounted units to work, so had to rely on plug in fans, also one of the double rooms was very very small (room 7) with a small queen bed, this shouldn't really be charged at the same rate as the other double room we had (12), as you cannot really do anything other than sleep in it, so getting ready for a wedding wasn't ideal.. we had to all use our room (room 12) which was spacious, the shower in (room 11) was also not great, so again our party came & used ours.. also beds are very hard but I suppose some people are ok with that.. maybe a couple of toppers may solve this.. overall this is a budget hotel and yes the prices do reflect this, but just a few changes will make it a more comfortable experience.. but overall ok.
Location was good for where we needed to be
The whole hotel needs a good clean and redecorating. The carpet hadnt been hoovered, the shower gel was empty, the toilet was dirty and unclean, lots of dust, the skirting board is badly water damaged in bathroom, dirty marks all over the door, tv kept going off and on, some sort of noisy wiring work going on which we were not informed about, 1 mug and 1 towel for 2 guests? Booked 3 nights left after one.
Ideal place for a one night stop over Room was confortable Breakfast was nice and good value
No WiFi in room. TV wasnt working correctly limited channels and sound quiet
