For a small hotel the staff, facilities and rooms have so much to offer. It’s not a mainstream hotel so the rooms are very Caribbean and traditional style but it adds so much to your experience. The chef and staff are beautiful, me and partner wanted to invite the chef back to the uk, such incredible flavours come from the kitchen. Definitely had the best sleep ever, the Bequia suite is amazing! me and my partner will be coming back yearly to visit family in Saint Vincent and agreed we can’t wait to come back Bequia and revisit the hotel. Even our daughter tells everyone about it, such a great place for a family experience.
It had great positioning. Up in the hills. Unfortunately the showers were a little bit cool.
Our experience at Spring Hotel was very good. We were looking for a safe, mid-range location that allowed the opportunity to visit the local area.
From our initial interactions with Jason (property manager) to schedule and coordinate arrival, to our arrival on-island, to the staff (Natalia, Gabriel, Sofie, Akeelah, Jenique, Glen and Racquel) interactions throughout our stay, we have had NOT a complaint.
The property is perched up on a hill within the island’s terrain. The views were Awesome! The hotel provides a schedule for shuttle transport into the Princess Margaret beach area. We ordered drinks daily and they were ALways very tasty. We ordered food intermittently as we were trying to get a taste of the island from the locals. The food was goood well.
Our rooms were simple with nice touches (ac/tv/retractable clotheslines in the showers/iron + board, and hair dryers in each room.
We were a family group and rented the “Venue rooms” which offered a spectacular view. Each room had a balcony with a view. Water was hot.
We were here at the start of our vacation and it was Just what we needed.
BEQUIA! We Will be back.
My second stay at The Spring Hotel, I was insistent on staying there following a perfect visit last year. It is a beautiful hotel with amazing views.
Unfortunately the experience was tainted by some of the restaurant/bar staff, they were so 'off', looked bored, were not welcoming when ordering drinks, didn't smile, leaned around on mobile phones so that we felt we were inconveniencing them to ask for a menu or a drink, didn't say please or thankyou, unapologetic when getting orders wrong or them taking long. It made us feel really uncomfortable on occasion, we could not believe they would choose to be in a service role when they clearly didn't enjoy it. I'm sad to say it stopped us using the bar in the evenings or eating in the restaurant after the first night experience.
In contrast we must call out Jason on reception and Sophie in the restaurant who were both great.
Jason assisted me extensively prior to arrival and was the warmest welcome ever when we arrived, along with the gentlemen that assisted with bags and cases.
Sophie was a ray of sunshine, so friendly, smiley, nothing was too much, chatty and when/if she forgot anything so apologetic and we didn't even mind because she was so nice. Thank you for her bringing the good vibes.
Lovely stay in very pretty rooms.
We've had a few meals here which have been good (Roti, chicken wings, caesar salad) but this morning's (Christmas Day) American breakfast really topped it off. Sunny side up eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes with syrup. I won't need to eat now until this evening. Well done!
We were two couples who throughly enjoyed our stay at Spring Hotel; we were nine nights in the Bequia Suite the other couple 4 in the Canouan Suite both overlooking the sea from the hillside. Beautifully appointed rooms are comfortable with good AC and amenities. Keep in mind the hotel is on a hillside and there may be steps up or down to the rooms and public areas.
The pool is beautiful and the included breakfast, although not varied at all, was good. There is a hot water machine in the room with teabags only.
Dining at the restaurant several times was convenient with most of the staff friendly. Wine options are pretty minimal.
I would stress the need for a rental car if you are there for a few days. The free shuttle they run to the harbor/downtown several times a day is very helpful but the freedom we had with a car was the best as the location is pretty remote. There is nothing in a realistic walking distance.
Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat!
We intend to book this venue the next time we are in Bequai
I really liked this property because it is a hidden gen for a beautiful secluded getaway. It is quiet and up in the mountains with a remarkable view!!! The chef at the restaurant was so good we decided to have all our meals there even though we could have eaten elsewhere the second day. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this location for a honeymoon couple.
Thankyou shanique or shanik from tiny and breezy
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff, especially Glen, were very friendly and helpful.
My stay at this property was far from meeting my expectations as it was listed as a five star on booking.com...my expectations was high, the property itself is located on a hillside and very remote...take note to those who are looking for a retreat type accommodation, hiking, quiet and peaceful, one with nature with beautiful views of the ocean in the distance and spectacular mountain views over the shoreline at sunrise and sunset...well this is for you
To each his own...but this definitely wasn't for me and wasn't as advertised on the booking site in their description of this hotel, thank goodness my stay was a short one and wouldn't survive a week here or in Bequia for that matter as there's nothing to really do on the island
I can see the cost of staying here much longer adding up as you need their scheduled shuttle to get you back and forth from port elizabeth...3 times a day run from hotel and last is at 6:45pm or pay a taxi at $40EC dollars, as I'm used to walking everywhere from my accommodations it was very frustrating to be on a schedule by looking at my watch, so I wouldn't miss the next shuttle while out and about
Also what I came to realized about this property are...they only serviced your room when you told them to or it wouldn't be tidied up...imagine being gone from your room all day, then to return by evening and see it as you left it in the morning...I keep a tidy room but would not have been pleased as it's standard at 99.9 percent of properties to have daily housekeeping without informing....and I only learn about this while at breakfast the next morning talking to a couple who haven't had theirs serviced for days while enquiring about a promised complimentary drink for unserviced room
The included breakfast was very nice and tasty other meal periods looked fairly quiet as not much happened on property and guests stays out, the whole property is shut down by 9pm, so nothing to do but go to bed...but the kicker is not even regular tv channels can be found on television unless you have a Netflix account or downloaded movies or apps on your phone
The room itself wasn't bad, but an uncomfortable bed with the AC unit blowing directly on you...taking it to a higher temp. doesn't help and if turned off can become quite warm doesn't make for a good night's sleep, bathroom was quite nice with a big shower...in summary an okay stay...just not for me.
Staff is amazing, property was very clean and I felt at home.
The spring hotel is a beautiful hotel, with a beautiful scenery and calm environment. However, the staff is very disrespectful this is mainly directed to the kitchen staff. While staying at the hotel me and my family were treated badly by the kitchen crew. On Thursday morning when we went to eat breakfast the kitchen staff were being rude, while we were sat at our table we can hear the chef in the kitchen making comments like what “we don’t wanna hear her talk” and insinuating she was going to spit in our food. Me and my family were taken back by their behavior and the comments that were made because we were polite to the staff we greeted them every morning with a good morning and we always said thank you.
Beautiful stunning views over green slopes to the Atlantic. Very peaceful, just what we needed, with a shuttle service to the water.
The rooms were spotless and well equipped. Comfortable beds and AC to cool if needed. Kettle and tea provided and good fridge.
Our room had a balcony which took in the morning sun and had loungers. Also perfect for star gazing.
Our first interaction with the driver was nice who picked us up from the ferry. The room looked just like the picture on the website. We stayed in the original hotel which has wonderful a ambiance. The staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. The view is beautiful, the food from the restaurant was always on point. You can walk from the hotel into town and take the shuttle back at the set times or if up to more exercise you can walk back, it takes about 30minutes both ways. The amenities they advertise were a nice addition if you plan to stay there and not travel to town.We will book again and recommend to others. Thank you for a wonderful experience we were truly spoiled.
I had a lovely week at The Spring Hotel in January. My room was immaculate and beautifully appointed with a rain water shower in a massive bathroom and balcony overlooking the Atlantic. Great sea breeze as you are in hills. Special mention to the (3?) lady chefs. The food was so good that I ate there every night - and I am very fussy! The red snapper and the tuna folks were exceptional. Staff were completely charming and even ordered in the French wine I loved and Jameson whisky specifically for me. Mind you I drank it! Special thanks to Melanie who is quite amazing in the hospitality business and also to the security man, Alwin who kept reminding me I had failed to lock my rental jeep! The price for both the room and bar and food bills are extremely reasonably. No where in Bequia is more than 15 minutes away - but you are in the hills and there is a very efficient shuttle service for free from the hotel. Having said that, on a holiday I don’t want to be tied down to pick up and drop off times. So if you are staying here, I would really recommend renting a jeep. Brontë at Gideon taxis and rentals provided a fabulous service; she even met me at Port Elizabeth and had all the paper work done in advance. I am going to book The Spring Hotel again for a week in April. Need I say more?!
Very nice place; great food & friendly people!
There are good and less good things.
First the receptionist is lovely, kind and knowledgeable. If you text them at the WhatsApp number also they are usually responsive and prepared to answer your questions / give you information. The hotel also has an affordable price and offer a free shuttle at certain times during the day. However it is to note that the restaurant experience is not the greatest, nor the free shuttle one, see below.
Shuttle: you have a free ride from/to the ferry, however that is true only if you arrive in a certain time interval. When I arrived with a ferry, the driver was not there, I had to activate international roaming to text the hotel and ask for it. When he arrived, the driver said he had the wrong time (note I had provided the hotel with the right time days before, I also reconfirmed my arrival time the same morning while I was boarding the ferry. Also, the driver is well aware of the ferry timetable, I suspect he forgot).
2 days later I had planned to take the 5 pm shuttle ride from the port bus stop to the hotel. I texted the hotel to ensure this was running and got a confirmation, they said it would have been there shortly. The shuttle didn’t arrive till 5.30 (note I had been there since 4.45 as the hotel recommended). When he arrived, the driver said he had to pickup guests coming later with the ferry, hence he came late to run just one ride (instead of 2 - please note it takes 7 minutes from the hotel to the port by car). We waited there another 10-15 min for the guests to arrive and didn’t leave the port until 5.40ish.
I appreciate the driver wanted to do just one ride, but wouldn’t have been fair then to let us know? There were several of us waiting at the bus stop. We could have been waiting in a nice bar on the beach instead of the crowded and trafficked port parking.
There are only 3 shuttle departures/day from the hotel, and 4 from the port. So if you plan to take an early tour or a dinner somewhere else than the hotel that is not feasible. Each ride is 45$EC, which is 17-20$US. So if you plan to go down to the beach for the day, come back to the hotel for a shower, and then go back down for dinner, that easily gets to 17-20 x 4 = 68-80$US a day, which doesn’t make this hotel cheap anymore.
The restaurant has limited food choice. I had the lobster tail and the lobster was chewy despite this being an island. The day after I ordered a drink to come with my dinner, the drink never came. That being said, the ladies at the restaurant were always nice to me.
For breakfast you have a complimentary continental breakfast included in the price, which includes a fruit platter or a juice, eggs, toast with jam and coffee or tea.
My fruit platter came with 2 tiniest water melon pieces and 1 slice of orange cut in 3 pieces. I get it that it’s included in the price hence they are trying to save money, but come on 1 slice of orange? I was confused.
One more thing to note if you plan to stay here - you won’t get your room cleaned unless you have breakfast, cause that’s when one of the ladies will ask you if you want to have your room cleaned. Since breakfast starts at 7.15am, if you plane to leave early for a tour make sure you let someone know the night before that you want to have your room cleaned, otherwise nobody will come. (Also something that would have been nice to know before. I am a clean person and kept my room tidy, but if you go with a big group / with babies makes sure you let them know).
The hotel sits atop a very, very , very steep hill so the 3 times a day shuttle is useful. There are taxis aplenty to bring you back at a cost of $35 (East Carribean about £10).
The ladies who deal with the bar/hospitality are first rate.
It is a place with little divesion other than rum punch.
Whilst the food is ok the menu is limited and unchanging
Our room was excellent with a balcony and direct sea view.
