Ok but needs updating.
Pros:

The friendly helpful staff. The swimming pool. Location.

Cons:

The place is tired and needs updating. The shower over the bath was not very good. The first room we stayed in wasn't very clean. The bedding didn't look or smell clean. The shower was cold.Also in a very dark position. Around 9pm a male member of staff unlocked our door and entered the room. He said sorry and left How could he possibly get the wrong room and have a key to enter. It has a number on the wall. I think he may have been using the room especially with the bed not smelling very clean on the pillows. Told reception the next day and they just apologised but gave no explanation. Moved to another room which was brighter but still needs updating especially the bathroom.
The pool only had 3 sunbeds.

this historic hotel is an amazing bargain pricewise; it has not priced itself out of the market with upgrades in recent years and as such may not appeal to those wanting 4/5 star treatment. It is quaint and quirky and will appeal to those wanting a genuine vintage experience. Pool is open 24/7, breakfast is set a la carte choices, perfectly OK but not lavish, room spacious with bathtub, good central location, helpful staff

A Grand Old hotel
Pros:

We thoughly enjoyed the peaceful and graceful atmosphere.The historical aspect appealed to us,and the significance of the grand old buildings history.So interesting to see original fittings and fixtures ,and learning of the previous elite guests and Dignitaries in the past. Very appealing swimming pool.

Walkable distance from Badung market, nice textile and batik shops, Bali museum. Beautiful swimming pool. For small extra fee I was allowed to check out late. Quiet rooms
