Food at dinner was exceptional. Very good meal. Waitress on duty was lovely…she was also doing all the other jobs…bar, reception.

Cons:

On arrival we were told they had had a few plumbing issues. No hot water the following morning!!

Bedside lamp didn't work (not reported at the time)

Reported --- loose toilet seat (hard to sit comfortably), loose sink tap (had to hold to use) broken electric fused spur unit in the wardrobe which was a H&S issue.

All three were reported, the Receptionist did not note them down, she promised action that same day but no action taken, reported again next day and the other Receptionist could find no record of the original report.

Cons:

Terrible water pressure in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable though small for a large double bed. It was also very bouncy so every time anyone turned over it was a bit of an interruption to sleep

Historic atmosphere in a well‑maintained property
Pros:

The hotel building itself has a lot of history, yet it is very well maintained. The cafeteria is bright and cosy, and the garden is spacious and beautiful. The car park is large and convenient. The staff are extremely kind and helpful. Good and large breakfast

Cons:

The room was cold at night (in early May), and although we tried to turn on the heater, it did not work. Also, the chess pieces in the garden were not sufficient to play a proper game. Other than these points, there were no particular issues.

Lovely hotel in the forest.
Pros:

The room and staff were excellent. The gardens are really nice but seating is shaded in the evening by the large trees

Cons:

The food in the restaurant wasn't the best and let down what is an otherwise excellent hotel.

Lovely room, clean and well appointed, comfy bed. Peaceful . Access to forest from hotel.

Cons:

Dinner was disappointing, my husbands medium rare steak came medium well. Sauce not freshly made. They did offer to change, however by that time we had waited a while, and mine was served and we wanted to eat together. Staff courteous and helpful. Decided not to have breakfast in house
