Nach einer Hochzeit Nachts vor verschlossenem Hoteltor
Pros:

Die Anlage im Hacienda-Stiel hat uns gut gefallen.
Das Frühstück ist gut, in schönem Ambiente.

Cons:

Wir haben die Hacienda Jimenita wegen ihrer Nähe zur Hochzeitslocation Balbanera de Palugo für 2 Nächte je 2 Zimmer gebucht.
Wir sind Freitags angereist um am Samstag die Hochzeit unseres Sohnes in der Nähe zu feiern.
Am Samstagmorgen wurde uns von der Rezeption zugesichert das wir nach Mitternacht problemlos in die Unterkunft
kommen. Als wir um 01.00am an der Hacienda Jimenita eintrafen war das Tor jedoch verschlossen.
Trotz Leuten, Rufen, Hupen des Minibuses über mehr als 20 Minuten wurde das Tor nicht geöffnet und wir mussten auf eigene Kosten zu einem AirBnB fahren und bei Freunden notdürftig übernachten.
Am nächsten Morgen haben sich die Mitarbeiter der Hacienda Jimenita entschuldigt und uns die Dinnerrechnung vom
Freitag erlassen. Von der Rückforderung von 296$ für die nicht in Anspruch genommene Übernachtung (2 Zimmer) von Samstag auf Sonntag wurde nach mehr als 3 Wochen nur 131$ erstattet.

Lovely Place
Pros:

Hacienda Jimenita offers peace and serenity just minutes from the airport and 40 minutes from the historic center. From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel at home; they are very attentive and always willing to help. On the property, you can stroll along trails while observing the landscape with its birds and llamas. You can also enjoy several viewpoints, a good game of billiards, or simply revel in the tranquility and the breeze in the various spaces of the hacienda. It's worth mentioning that it's a great base for visiting Papallacta, Antisana National Park, and other destinations.

I saw 23 species and six lifers birding a full day around the grounds and the trails.
Pros:

This is an absolutely lovely spot with great birds and a beautiful overlook of a canyon. I had a late flight in the afternoon, so I checked out and birded until my flight.

Cons:

It was a little pricey, but the room, grounds, and trails were top notch.

A great stay and a paradize for birders
Pros:

This place is a paridise for birders. It is situated alangside a canyon and the whole enclosed area is organised for excellent birding. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, the foid in the restaurant of excellent quality and taste

Cons:

Beeing naturalists they should organize manifestations against night flights overflying sub urban zones and take action against noisy USA citizen 😉

Peaceful hideaway nature retreat
Pros:

Super close to the airport (10-15 min), this hideaway is a lovely retreat from the bustle of Quito (40 min away). Set on a family estate over 100 years old, the rooms are beautiful, the grounds are full of birds and the gorge it sits on the edge of is epic. The only wildlife we saw were birds and a couple of llamas. Staff are incredibly helpful and open to people doing day visits on their way back from the Galapagos or Peru. Restaurant is very good, except for the steak. There is an Inca tunnel onsite you can explore.

Cons:

The reserve is on the flight path for Quito airport with 11-14 planes going overhead each day and 3-4 between 11 pm and 1 am. Not a good place if you're a light sleeper but fine if you have earplugs.

Charming family run hotel located close to the airport
Pros:

We stayed one night before leaving Ecuador. We wanted somewhere near to the airport but didn't want to stay in a huge hotel. Hacienda Jimenita Wildlife Reserve was perfect. We had two delicious meals (lunch and dinner), lunch outside watching the birds all around us and then dinner inside as it was a bit too chilly to eat out. We walked around the reserve - it was beautiful, calm and relaxed with plenty of birds to see. The staff were all lovely and we would recommend this family run hotel to other travellers. The hotel also arranged for an airport pick up and drop off (at 3.45am!) for us.

Cons:

One small comment which is a frequent one for many hotels - although the bed was extremely comfortable, the pillows were not great. We take our own pillows when we travel, something I would recommend to others because then it doesn't matter what the pillows are like!

The best place to decompress before heading home
Pros:

The property is an oasis of beauty just minutes from the Quito airport. It is a full service property arranging transportation to and from the airport, a full restaurant, wonderful places to explore and enjoy and a spa providing services by prearranged reservations. We loved the trails, the archaeological cave and the food/bar offerings. Everything was so well cared for! The birds were habituated to feeding stations so they were plentiful and easy to photograph. There is an eclectic mix of very happy flowers, trees and other botanica giving it a kind of Noah’s arc feel with the massive expanse of Quito twinkling from the hills in the distance.

Cons:

At first the noise from the planes was bothersome but the place is so mellow it faded away after one day.

Pros:

The entire setting is gorgeous. If you come to Ecuador to see beautiful birds & flowers this is the place, just minutes from the airport. A fabulous introduction to Ecuador, all with the best comfort, great food and service.
